Place: Cypress Springs Comments: You know Jack....Chicken Express has really good chicken tenders with mashed potatoes, Cole slaw gravy and a really good roll w/honey and drink for less then that. AND it probably would not take two hours. But since it was an anniversary I guess they could have eaten slower! And would have saved enough to have gotten her maybe a banana split instead of just ice cream on the way home. I mean I think that is what we did on our 30th! Lol
Place: Richardson Comments: Learned this morning our classmate,Jane Lasater Pennington, lost her older brother, Danny Lasater. He passed away yesterday from an apparent heart attack. Prayers and thoughts for the Lasater family on the loss of Danny.
Place: Richardson Comments: Quiet frankly Dale, I'm expecting a much better job on the PhotoShop when he posts a pic of me and him. I want to make sure he reveals the true me . . . ??? Guess what? Some more old friends are signing up for the reunion. Donna Riley Pratley & husband Jack and Larry Edwards and wife Pat. Good thing we'll have name badges because I really not sure I will recognize some of these folks I haven't seen in more than 30 years or so. We have a great turnout for this Big 50th. Can hardly wait to . . . See You In September!!
Place: Sachse Comments: Glynda and I went to Bubba Cooks Diner in University Park Saturday. Stood in line to order, took our hot fresh food on trays and found a table. Filled our tea glasses at the counter. Had GREAT fried chicken tenders, mashed potatos and cole slaw. Total bill about $22. No tip. In and out in about 45 minutes. Glynda couldn't eat all of her's so we brought home left-overs. Lunch for me later this week. Living high on the chicken!
Place: lazy s ranch Comments: Jack, they just really pamper you and bring out the courses as they are prepared. It's worth the trip for special occasions. John, that's funny, the way you photo shopped our picture to make us look old and fat. Keep that sense of humor going.
Place: Sachse Comments: 2 hours for a meal?? Did you have to cook it yourself??
Place: The Woodlands, TX Comments: Dale, I saw on the news today that your meal tab more than doubled Talpa's 2016 GDP.
Place: Brownwood, Texas Comments: John, The place we had dinner is called Rancho Loma and is way out in the country between Talpa and Valera. Look them up at rancholoma.com. They serve a five course meal that is unique but there are no substitutions and you better not ask for ketchup. Dinner for two with no alcohol was $243.53 but that included the tip and a dog under your table that ate any scraps you may have dropped. We stopped in Coleman on the way home and got a blizzard. The meal took a little over 2 hours and was delicious.
Place: The Woodlands, TX Comments: Dale, I Googled "Talpa, Texas" but there isn't much info available. In fact, it appears to be one step above a ghost town, having barely 100 citizens. Maybe you'd better phone ahead to the restaurant to make sure they're still in business. Congrats on the 46th anny thingy. Here's a pic of "downtown Talpa" from Texas Escapes.
Place: cypress Springs Comments: I know that we all try to wear colors that do not clash and will blend but you are going overboard Smiley! You clash with everyone... But hey what's new! You have been picking on you poor wife all these years. I am like SNL if you do not show up at the reunion we are not asking questions...we figure you deserve whatever you get!
Place: Richardson Comments: Dale - I can hardly wait to see the interesting photos from the reunion. I'm sure you will be "glowing". Won't be hard to pick you out. Based on the remark you made in the previous post . . . I hope you live to attend the reunion.!!
Place: Der Grosvenor Comments: SNL, It will have to be the lime green paisley leisure suit. As I mentioned it was settled out of court recently. Seems Levine's' records showed my last two payments didn't clear my bank but it's amazing what a stack of ones totaling 8 bucks will do to negotiations these days. Bout to take Von out for a hoity-toity dinner at Rancho-Loma at beautiful sun-filled, fun-filled Talpa, Texas. Tomorrow is our 46th anniversary. If you look up "Long-suffering' in the dictionary you will see my picture.
Place: Richardson Comments: Received two more registrations late this week. Adrienne Cain & Mary Elliott for both nights. Also Donna Riley said she wants to come on Fri. If you haven't checked the Who's Attending tab on our website, you will be surprised at who all is coming to the reunion!! www.soc1966.com Dale - I trust you have made a final decision on whether your going with the paisley or the plaid sport coat?
Place: Richardson Comments: Just finished adding the latest names to our Who's Attending list. Randall Sims and wife, Judy Bass and sister Martha Bass Hunt and Louann Davis. Heard from Adrienne Cain & Mary Elliott today and they're mailing theirs tomorrow. If you haven't gone through the whole list in more than a week, take about two minutes to go through it top to bottom. Think you'll be pleasantly surprised by who's coming to the 50th!! Going to be fun getting to see so many friends we haven't seen in a long time!!
Place: 66erville Comments: That excuse of a sportscaster on channel 8 has on Sunday nights a bit called scholar athletic of the week. He tells the scholar's gpa, standing in their class and all the actives they are involved. A few weeks back he had a kid from SOC on. The line that grabbed my attention was "a grade point average of 89.6 puts him 7th in his class". What has happened to our education system?? |
