Place: Garland Comments: We vote for #3
Place: KC, MO Comments: I'm with Susan and Ada - whatever works best for most (but if I have to choose one, I vote for number 3). THANK YOU, SANDY!
Place: Nh Comments: What ever is easiest for SNL!
Place: North Richland Hills, TX Comments: The Spring Mini and the 70th Party in Sept sounds good to me, but I'm easy. I'll go with whatever everyone else decides. Thanks for doing all these get togethers for us Sandy. I know it's a lot of work even though it's done with love.
Place: Questionaire Regarding 70th BD Party! Comments: OK Gang - Here's the big question - Pick Option 1, 2 or 3 1) Do you want to have a Spring Mini in Mar or April and then a 70th B-day Party in June OR 2) Have only a 70th B-day party in June (no Mini) OR 3) Would you rather have a Spring Mini and wait until Sept to have a 70th B-day Party? I was meeting with the Holiday Inn yesterday and they are being very accommodating. I would need until June to be able to put everything in place for B-day Party. The Minis are easy so no problem. I think a Mini in the Spring and a big Bash in Sept would be great, but I'll leave it up to YOU! Feel free to send me an Em vote or post here. I'll keep a tally. I would appreciate your input!
Place: Cold & Breezy in Richardson Comments: Well Richard, Darci is a forward thinking woman. I'd like to turn the clock back about 15 yrs! Since the eastern states seem to be so high on DST & D.C. keeps extending it longer & longer, why don't the states East of the Mason Dixon Line keep DST & let the rest of us keep standard time!
Place: Calif. Comments: Well, I think on DST my daughter Darci got it right. She said, "moving the clock back an hour? Big deal. If it were up to me I'd move it back to Friday". She loves her weekends.
Place: Sachse Comments: Can't dispute what SNL says, but farmers and ranchers have always gotten up with the sun and came in when it got to dark to work. It didn't matter what the clock said. DTS started in the east. I assume it was because people who can make money from people staying outdoors longer wanted it done. After many years people who were in the same money making businesses saw the value and lobbied congress to make it nationwide. And so they did. Biggest losers were Drive-in movies. Probably was their downfall. Congress continued to push the start up date earlier and shut down date later until it got where it is now. Kids going to school in the dark, but there is more light time when they get home. I have always hated it and think it is a stupid idea, but nobody asked me. Especially now with many having flex time available, we don't need it. Wish they would repeal it or Texas would opt out.
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy - I"m no expert on this & I haven't gone into Google to get specific dates & other things, but . . . Back in the early 1900s America & the many immigrants fro all over settled here and began farming. My mom was 1 of 7 children and her parents immigrated from Austria in the late 1800s to get away from the German invasions. They settled in Crawford, TX and yes they had acres of farmland & livestock. My mom told me they tended the livestock & gathered eggs of a morning before school & then worked in the fields after school until dark. The DST started way back in the early 1900s so farmers would have more light to tend/gather their crops before dark. But let's face it - - Who does that now! No one! We're automated and I can just about guarantee you don't know anyone whose kids work in the fields! Ican see why AZ opted out of DST, who needs more hot sunlight!
Place: Twilight Zone Comments: So, I don't even know what day it is, much less the hour. I still can't figure it out why we bother with D.S.T. changes. Any of you know the history behind it?
Place: Richardson Comments: Did anyone else have trouble figuring out what time it was yesterday? We were out Saturday night so before e left I reset our bedroom clock. I was fine till I walked in the kitchen to get my coffee. I wasn't sure which was correct and which one I changed. To heck with it... get my coffee & read the Sunday paper. Who cares!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Don't forget . . . turn your clocks BACK 1 hour tonight Nov. 4th or 1st thing in the morning!
Place: Richardson Comments: RATS! Maybe that's why he didn't respond. Now I gotta change it!! Thanks Richard!
Place: Calif. Comments: I'm guessing that should read "should've". Maybe.
Place: Richardson Comments: I'm sorry you didn't make it too! If you were baby-sitting you should've brought her with you as she would have been the hit of the party. She is so cute & adorable. |
