Place: Sachse Comments: Thank you, Ronney. Yes Don is a good friend. Not only did he do the video for us, he stepped up and was a pallbearer for Mom. Special guy. Jerry and Joyce Tillery came up and helped us so very much in ways I didn't even know I needed. Mother always said I had a knack for picking good friends and I am lucky enough that in most cases they picked me back. I can't think of a friend she disapproved. Some of he girls I dated, now that's a different story. I really appreciate all the calls, messages and cards we have received. I am most thankful for all of your thoughts and prayers.
Place: Reminder of our upcoming 70th B-day Party! Comments: This is a quick reminder about our 70th B-day Party for the class of 1966! Please go to our Events pg. to get all the info & registration form. I'm starting to get registration forms & checks coming in but please don't wait to the last minute, as I need to get headcount and make sure there is enough room & food for all who attend. Let's talk-up our party so that everyone is aware even if they don't get on FB! September 22, 2018. Be there or be square!
Place: Richardson Comments: Happy Valentines Day to all the SOC Gang! Today is our 33rd Wedding Anniversary. Wow, hard to believe, the time has gone so quickly! I also believe there are several other SOC couples who got married on Valentines Day. I know Jimmy & Cari did, are there more? Love & Kisses to everyone!
Place: The Woodlands Comments: Carol that would be a hoot! Would love to see and hear you guys perform.
Place: Allen, TX Comments: Jack, I was talking to Don Fugate when he was about to deliver that tribute to your mom to the funeral home. We are lucky to be close friends with Don. I was touched that he did that for you. That shows what a great friend Don is. I thank God for my friendship with Don. And, I know you do also. So sorry I was not able to attend the funeral. I really wanted to be there for you and your sweet wife. The fact that you are such a good man is a great testimony to your mom.
Place: KC, MO Comments: Annette - Our music teacher at Bushman taught us "The Hawaiian War Chant" for a unit that our class was doing on Hawaii. I can sing it at our birthday party if we need entertainment. I'll need Judy Stover Taillac, Arthur Gentry, and Marilou Moore Staniec to help me out!
Place: KC, MO Comments: Hotel reservations made for our birthday party! I'll be staying in McAlester, OK Thursday night, leaving for Richardson around noon on Friday. By splitting up the drive from Overland Park, I won't be too tired to party on Friday night before the big bash on Saturday. (Wow - That makes me sound way older than almost 70!) I'll send my registration form and check to you this week, Sandy. Love to all - Carol
Place: The Woodlands Comments: Does anyone who went to Clara Oliver remember the name of the teacher who used to teach us to sing Hawaiian Songs? That song "My Little Grass Shack in Kialakahou Hawaii" is so embedded in my brain it brings back great memories, but I can't remember the teacher's name.
Place: Richardson Comments: I've received registration #2. So far we have 3 people signed up! Hmmm. Hopefully, as we head into Spring it will pick up. September does sound far away, doesn't it?
Place: Richardson Comments: Carol - I can understand why you can't make the Spring Mini, it's a long drive from KCY! But I'm thrilled you will be making the 70th B-day Party in Sept!! I'm working on the best way for those staying at the hotel, and others who want to join us, to enjoy a dinner together. Regardless of where it is I will have to ask for "Reservations" and "Confirmation" from those who plan to attend. I want to have an area to ourselves so we can eat, laugh, talk & visit without disturbing others. Going to take some planning and working out details, but I feel sure I can come up with something that will provide us a good venue. Later gang . . . gotta finally get out of the house and start attending to some things that got stacked up while we were sick.
Place: KC, MO Comments: Sandy, you know me well! Yes, I would love to have dinner with everyone Friday night. I haven't tried to make my room reservation since you had the hotel fix their issues; I will do that this week, though. I'm really looking forward to the birthday party, especially since I'm practically positive that I won't make the Spring get-together. I've changed my retirement date from the last week of April to the first week of September in order to complete my current project (by September 1st) and to be available to help as my responsibilities transition to someone else...or maybe to several "someone elses", as that decision is still to be made. I'll hate to miss the Spring gathering, but that's just the way it will have to be this time. Love to all - Carol
Place: Richardson Comments: Ada Ann I haven't heard back from Carol C. but I suspect she will do her usual . . . She drives in Friday and stays Fri & Sat night for a Mini and leaves Sun morning. Yes, I'm working on dinner plans for Fri night for all who are in town and at the hotel. I don't won't you to be alone, so we'll have a dinner of some kind. It will be optional & everyone pays for their own dinner/drinks. I'm mulling over some options. Glad you are interested as I know Carol will be.
Place: NH Comments: General consensus of hotel stayers......Fri and Sat nights? Did someone say that there would be an out to dinner experience on Friday night?
Place: 70th B-day Party Coming Soon!! Comments: Don't forget to go to our Events pg http://www.soc1966.com/company.html to get the registration form & all details regarding our 70th Bash for the Class of 66!! I'm not mailing out invitations, so you must go to our Events pg ( I've put a link above) if you plan to attend. I've done the leg work & signed the contract, so let's start signing up NOW! It will be casual & fun with lots of time to visit!!
Place: Sachse Comments: I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to email, text, post, called or attended services in support of my family and our loss. A special thanks to Don Fugate, who stepped in and made a video when the funeral home couldn't. Mother was all about family and treated all my brother's, mine, my two nephews (who she raised) friends as her own. She loved them all. When any of us screwed up, she let us know and straightened us out. Ask Tillery or Dagley. She was loved by many. Life will be different now. Your thoughts and prayers are comforting and GREATLY appreciated. Thank you! I am blessed with great friends. |
