Place: Lago Vista, TX Comments: Check's in the mail & reservation made. We'll see y'all to wish each other Happy 70th Birthday in Sep - hopefully, before some of us click-over another digit!
Place: Richardson Comments: Don & I are very carefully with our cr cds and personal info as well, but when you have to give your card to a wait person and it disappears and then comes back to you . . . anyone can copy the # and 3-digit code. We got a similar call, like yours Jack, 2 years ago & someone in another state had bought several thousand dollars of electronic Eq. Master card was also very quick and good about cancelling the card right then & sending a new one. But, that's our main card and the Toll Tag people as well as several others use it for auto payments. Had to contact everyone as soon as I got the new card. In a world of scammers and thieves, it's hard not to get your card hacked at least once in your life. Sad but true! And Richard - Are you checking all 50 states on those "possible" arrest warrants?? Just asking.
Place: California Comments: Yep, Jack, it does happen. I tend to check my accounts more than once a day; banks, credit cards, warrants for my arrest, etc. You know....just tryin' to stay a step ahead.
Place: Sachse Texas Comments: Well, I guess it was just a matter of time. Got a text from Discover asking if I am or had been in San Antonio and ordered $80.00 from Domino's and $88.00 from Mr. Jim's and a couple of $1.00 charges. Told them NO, I have not been in San Antonio is quite a while. They closed the account and said I would not be billed and they are Fed Ex ing me a new card. Discover is my least used card, mainly for work. It is my billing card for Fed Ex, post office and parts I have to buy on line. All companies I know and have used for a long time. I did slip up and used it at Wildwood in Firewheel last month. That is a "new" restaurant. Not saying that is where the "lost" happened but I think I will let them know, just in case. I'm very pleased that Discover jumped on this. I always check my statements but this is at the beginning of the billing cycle so it could have gone on for a time before I would have caught it. I thought I was pretty careful with my cards but I does happen. Just sharing.
Place: CA Comments: Actually, the only potential catastrophe that does bother me is a fire. Floods, earthquakes, etc., don't have much of an effect on me. But, watching a fire close in can be......unsettling. That was the closest a fire came to my house. It was a few blocks away, and less as the crow flies (over the canyon, less than a mile). However, as close at is was, I never smelled smoke which told me the wind was actually in my favor, even though flags on houses seemed to tell a different story (yes, we fly the America flag in Calif.). At any rate, they put it out, and that's a good thing. |
