We like to watch the Nightly National News that comes on here from 5:30 to 6:00pm.  Last night watching Ch 11 (CBS) they had quite a few clips, photos and songs from Aretha.  But the tease was that later they would disclose info about her big hit RESPECT.  About last 6-7 minutes they interviewed her about the song and gave a bunch of info.  I did not know the song was original written & sung by Otis Redding in 1965.  Her new & improved version was in 1967!!

They played a bit of Otis' version & then Aretha's version.  She said she & her sister punched it up with some background singers and the infamous "Sock it to me" chorus.  I was so glad I was watching CBS last night because it was really a good tribute.

Sadly, Aretha Franklin passed away earlier today.  R-E-S-P-E-C-T, you earned it Aretha.  RIP.

I heard on the news late yesterday that the Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is in the hospital gravely ill.  They said she has cancer.  Today they said she is very gravelly ill and family is with her.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T,  THINK,  Chain of Fools . . .  I could go on and on.  To this day when I hear RESPECT I can't help but sing along!  Right girls??!!

Hi Sandy!!  I wish that I could make the upcoming event.  Would so love to see everyone.  Having company from South Carolina on the 22nd.  I will be coming down the first or second week in October.  My son just bought a house on Lake Granbury and I am going to visit him and then over to east Texas to visit my brothers and their families..  Will just be missing all of the fun on the 22nd, darn!

Ada Ann, good thoughts and prayers coming your way..Yes, I know from first hand experience that radiation does a toll on ones body.  You hang in there and I agree with others.  Don't worry until they tell you to.

Good health and much happiness to all!

I just wanted to let y'all know that I am having bladder surgery tomorrow. The lining of the bladder will be cauterized and a sample will be taken to be biopsied. The radiation in 2009 did some damage....as the Urologist said, "Radiation is the gift that keeps on giving"!

That is true, Richard, but it seems like a good way to go at this point in time.
