I wanted to let you know Charles Moss went into the hospital a few days ago.  We all know his health isn't good and never has been.  But, his heart, lungs and kidneys are in bad shape.  He won't know anything until late next week.

We all know Charles doesn't like to talk about his health and never wants anyone to worry about him.  In fact, I'm not supposed to say anything! [nono] But .  .  .  he sure could use some prayers and that's why I'm posting.  Please pray for him to get better and be able to leave the hospital. If you call him, don't ask lots of questions about his health. He just went into the hospital and they told him nothing will be done until next week as doctors are off for the weekend!! Just a call to say hello and praying for him to get better would be so encouraging.

Interesting John how Oak Cliff seemed like a small town back then.  We all knew our neighbors and all the kids on the blocked played together in the summer.  We had 5 of us who were all within a year or so of each other living on the 4900 block of Kildare St.  Gordy Johnson & brother Bradley, Janice Horner and her brother and sisters, Gary Penn and John Prasifca.  Marion Fuentes was on the next block of Kildare, Jack Hawkins was 2 blocks up on Denley and so was Zane Clayton and so many more all in and around us.

Gordy & me have been friends since we were 5, John Prasifca passed away many years ago as did Zane Clayton. Don't know about the others except still friends with Mario & his wife Barbara  and Jack & wife Glynda.

No one out side of South Oak Cliff back in the 50s & 60s will ever know what a special place that was back then. [love]

The earlier mention of Eileen Sandefer brings back some memories. In the late 1950's and early 1960's my family lived on Calcutta Drive, two blocks north of T.L. Marsalis Elementary. Eileen lived on my same street four houses down. At the time, I pretty much thought of her as that little pest with the long blonde hair. A few years back I was talking with my younger brother (Scott) about our days on Calcutta. I was surprised when he mentioned Eileen. He claimed she was the first girl he'd ever kissed, and she was two years older than him! Happy (belated) Birthday, Eileen ... wherever you are.

Visited with Paul William (Bill) and Jeannie Smith yesterday. Bill was in good spirits. Said he has been up walking a couple of times each day, but was really tired. Jeannie seemed to be holding up pretty well. Next round of chemo starts today. Jeannie said they would be there at least another week. Both were keeping positive. If you get a chance drop by for a short visit. Both seemed grateful for a break in routine.

Prayers for Bill and Jeannie Smith during this time.
Today, according to Facebook, is Eileen Sandefer’s Birthday. Has anyone seen or heard from her or have any info to her well being?
Good to hear Vernon’s wife is home and doing better.

I just received an email from Jeannie Smith and she asked me to let everyone know that her husband, Bill has been diagnosed with Acute Leukemia and started chemotherapy today. He is in Richardson Methodist. The hospital has  him as Paul Smith instead of Bill  Smith. Please keep Jeannie and Bill in your prayers

Vernon, thank you for the update. So glad she is home and I know you are too as it's hard to be at a hospital every day worrying about someone.
Praying you both can get some rest now that y'all are back home. 🙏

No, I haven't forgot about the always possible freeze that can happen here.  When my mom and I would talk about putting in bedding plants she always told me, "Don't plant those tender bedding plants until after Easter."  It doesn't make any difference "when" Easter is, don't put them in the ground until after Easter.  This year Easter is March 31st.

I see a long slow stroll thru the nursery on Saturday March 30th and a big planting the following week. [smile]

Spring has sprung, at least here in DFW area.  Starting today, we've got sunshine and temps beginning at upper 60s, tomorrow upper 70s and Wed & Thurs low 80s. [cool] The next 2 weeks look great with sun and good weather. [smile] Maybe winter has hit the road!!

Now that is funny!!  What are the odds of the same card, and I believe you told you each bought the card at different stores.  Glad it was a good Valentine's for you two.  Ours was good too. No flowers, he knows I'm allergic, but a good day with cards and nice dinner at Wildwood.

Sandy, that was a very nice message to everyone! Thanks for the update on Vernon’s wife. She’s had a lot on her plate. Here’s hoping that being home will be just what she needs!
I couldn’t let this go without sharing with everyone! Just how well do we know our spouse? On Valentine’s Day, he remembered…. I got a beautiful bouquet of roses, Lillie’s and baby’s wreath in a nice vase and a great card! He didn’t just think about it (inside joke) but he remembered! When we exchanged cards we both looked confused for a split second and then we both burst out in laughter! The joke was on both of us! We gave each other the same card!! How does that EVER happen? It made for a funny and absolutely great evening over dinner! It’s the little things after all!
