Thank you for your kind words and encouragement, Don. A day late but still with enthusiasm...Happy Birthday, Rosemary. In fact, best wishes to all who are celebrating anniversaries, birthdays and just life in general. 🥳

Sandy - My jaw really dropped after reading your post about Don's ordeal (and yours) at the hospital, but so glad the 2nd post said y'all were expected to head home tomorrow.  What a relief and will pray for you both.

Paul - It's difficult to hear of your news, as well.  But your resolve shines thru as you offer encouragement and prayers to others, ahead of describing your own troubles.  Then, following up with more show of support for our SOC '66 family and the strength of prayer.  There's plenty to go around and you're certainly in ours, along with many others previously mentioned.

All - I wanted to be sure to recognize the most serious of our issues before following up with birthday wishes for another classmate.  (I know it's late, but some of us still have to work, and besides - I need to do this while it's still today!)

At least when we “hang in there” we hang in there together. SNL...so glad Don is doing better. Being home will make it even better still. God is probably enjoying seeing the class of 66 go to bat for one another.

Thank you all so very much!!  I love this class & all our SOC Friends.  They've finally got that darn Trigeminal nerve calmed down and if nothing else happens overnight, he can come home tomorrow.  He only spent 4 nights in the hospital when he had bypass surgery, tonight is 5 nights for this Trigeminal episode.  Weird and hard to believe.

Larry- I'm so sorry to hear Martha has had such a rough time with her heart because I know she has a big wonderful heart!  Let her know she will be in my prayers.

Paul - Darn, I hate hearing that.  Sounds like you are taking care of business and putting the whop-ass on that awful disease! I will also include you in my prayers.

May God Bless and keep all my SOC friends and give us strength to heal and get better.  Love to all, and to all a good nite.

Sandy,
Our prayers are with you and Don.
I know what you are going through. Martha has been in the hospital nine times since 1November
with heart issues. The last time she was in nine days. Many prayers helped us through this time.
I know this site will lift you up in prayer.

Words seem inadequate at this point, so prayer is what I am offering up for you both. I resolve to be diligent in this regard not just “one and done.” While we are being so open, I will let you know I have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Am in 4th installment (3 weeks each) of 7 installments of chemo. I am responding well but it is a challenging disease. I think it is clear from our GB that prayer for all of us is much needed. I intend to make it a priority.

If your wondering what happened to me & why I've been missing from GB & FB, here's the situation.
Don had an angiogram done 12-18-18.  He thought they would probably put in 1 or 2 stents.  Instead they found numerous blockages and he needed bypass surgery.  Of course it's one week till Christmas.  After the first of yr there wee Dr appointments and tests before he had quadruple bypass surgery on 1-29-19. 5 days/4 nights and he's home.  Doing really good for for 12 days and then a little problem he's had for about 9-10 yrs cropped up on 2-14.

He started having the extremely painful shocks on the right side of his face on 2-14.  It escalated on 2-15.  The Trigeminal nerve is just behind the right ear.  It's a rare ailment and most doctors have very little knowledge on what to do for it.  He takes meds for it when it acts up.  It will bother him for a week or so and then fade away, only to return at odd intervals.  But on 2-15 it was worse than it's ever been before.  It was so bad that he couldn't eat or move his lips or the pain hit.  He's told me it's light a bolt of lightning that hits you in the face.  As the pain in creased so did his blood pressure. It hit 212 / 110 at 5:15pm and I grabbed my purse and his Id & ins card & we headed to ER at the Heart hospital where he had his surgery done.

I'll cut to the chase . . . we spent from 5:45pm 2-15 in the ER with the pain escalating by the minute & BP sky high.  Nothing worked, they had to practically knock him out to stop the pain. He couldn't even talk it was so bad, so he kept scribbling me messages.  At 2:30am Sat morning they took us via the Sky Bridge from Heart Hospital to the regular Scott & White Medical Center next door.  It wasn't until nearly 11:00am when a Neurologist came in and ordered the correct meds to stop the pain.  Unfortunately it's coming an going and Don is still in the hospital as I type this.

So, in answer to the mystery as to what I've been up to . . .  long days and many nights at the hospitals.  When he can't talk , I won't leave because someone has to answer all the many questions each and every Dr asked every time they come in the room.  And each day there are different Drs.  Here's the irony to this whole situation.  We thought the day of his bypass surgery & the first night would be the worst day/night we would spend in the hospital.  Turns out it wasn't !  The 30 hours from Friday evening and up to 11:00am Saturday were the worst ever!  He came thru bypass surgery with flying colors, but turns out a little tiny turn took him down!

Please do me two favors.  1) Please don't mention this on FB or other medias.  This is our little 66 GB and this is where we share our hearts and problem, not on FB.  2) please send up some prayers for Don's Trigeminal to stop acting up and give him some peace and healing time.  You might also include a prayer for me too.  I have to stay well & strong to be there for Don & make sure he's getting everything he needs to get him well.  At this age, being at the hospital for 12 hours and all that entails, is very draining.  My butt is dragging!  I will let you know when I bring him home and where we stand.  Until then, take care of each other and know that your SOC Friends are always the Best!
