Well, Richard - The 'senior moment' (... day or two) finally passed and Mary, the cashier's, last name came to me - Gorman.  Also, I mentioned 'Harry' Trotter in Men's hats, but his 1st name was 'Walter'.  However, it was Cunningham who twisted our arms into wearing those dress hats.

You mentioned Bill Chisholm was a piece of work - you got that right.  Bill deserved to die one day while we were on the job together at the DT store, but I'll e-mail you about it separately.  If I could've 'let go' and grabbed his throat ... ! [sneaky]

Bill Chisolm; now he was a piece of work.  They moved him to the OC store and I worked with him; my dad managed the OC store for 15 years.  Cunningham (my first supervisor in furn.) started at the OC store and moved DT.  Those hats were always the style back then....sort of coming back now for both men and women.  You have a great memory for names.

Richard - Wow, I'd forgotten Bond's had an OC location til now!  But, I recall dropping by the OC store while home on leave & saw Bill Chisholm, who used to be our Shoe Dept Mgr downtown.

Other downtown names I recall, besides Joe Lombard: Perry White (Asst. Store Mgr), Howard Cunningham (Men's Furnishings, plus my & Duane's boss), Al Ruiz (Asst. to Cunningham), Maude Spradlin, Mary ? (Cashier), and Harry Trotter (Men's Hats).

Duane & I were both 'sold' on the idea of buying & wearing a slim-brimmed felt men's dress hat to & from work to sort of make a fashion statement, I guess.  I took mine off as soon as I got on the bus leaving downtown for OC, so I wouldn't get laughed outa the neighborhood if seen wearing it. [sneaky]

Well, Don I was at the OC Bond store (Sanger-Harris Center).  I also worked at the downtown store in the credit dept. for a while.  Joe Lombard managed that store.  Small world.

Very sorry to hear of Charles Terry's passing.  I remember him, but we didn't run around together.  I'm not familiar with all the organizations & abbreviations mentioned in his obit, but he was obviously quite active & involved throughout his life.  I didn't find his Senior photo in the ’66 Den, but his Junior photo is shown in the ’65 Den.

I was also in the Distributed (Distributive?) Education (DE) program, under Mr. Dyer.  As Richard said, we left school after lunch to go jobs the program helped coordinate.  Managers reported on our performance, which was factored into our grade for the semester.  Duane Chafin & I both worked at Bond's Clothing store on Main St., downtown.

I'll send a copy of this to the SOC '66 Vets listing for others who may not visit the GB often.

Well, darn; Charles Terry is gone.  He was my closest friend growing up in the Russell/Storey days as he lived less than half a block away from us.  We rode our bikes all over SOC (not the school), and beyond.  We sort of lost touch during HS days as he was on a program that let him out early to go to a job, and then the Navy came along, etc. etc.  Someone who visits this site is his cousin (a female) though I don't remember who it was.  Sorry to hear this.

You're welcome Paul.  We don't post personal stuff on FB, don't think it's wise.  I still like to think our little GB is where '66ers go when they want to know what's going on with our group.  Not everyone is on FB!

Sandy, thanks for sharing these with us. I never have convinced myself I want to do the Facebook thing (a carryover from the personal security briefings we got in the USAF) so this is the way I get classmate news. Again, thanks.

With the help of Jeannette I found this nice tribute to Charles Terry on Google.  It's much better than the two-liner by the funeral home.  Click the link below to see the nice tribute.  It's a secured link.  it has a good photo too.

When it rains, it pours .  .  .  and I'm not talking about water!  In addition to our 3 friends who passed away in March, I just found out another classmate, Charles Henry Terry, passed away 2-12-19.  Jeannette Strickland found out and was nice enough to let me about his passing.

I found the confirming obit, but it was only two sentences.  It said, "Charles was born on January 20, 1948 and passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2019.  Charles was a resident of Texas at the time of his passing."

My records show he was living in DeSoto but the funeral home was in Waxahachie.  Thank you Jeannette.

Brillant idea Paul.  Drop that enchilada  idea in the docs suggestion box tomorrow!  Keep the faith kiddo, we all pray for each other and are here if you need to vent or just let out a few complaints.  Take care, keep your mind strong and pray for a light to start shinning at the end of that tunnel.

Y’all are the greatest. With God and the SOC team on my side, how can this not turn out well? Please keep the prayers coming. I pray for you all every day. I feel for others who don’t have a class like ours.
PS. I start the new type of chemo tomorrow...Thurs/Fri every week. Too bad they don't have chemo that comes in the form of El Fenix enchiladas.

Paul - Haven't been on the guestbook since the weekend; just now read your health update. I'm so sorry that you didn't receive the report that all were hoping for. I know that you know that your SOC friends are with you as you face this latest hurdle. Here's to your conquering that hurdle and being met with "sunshine all the while". 💕
Love to all - Carol

Thank you Don L and Paul Scholte.  We did have a nice dinner at our favorite seafood place.  Paul, I've added you to my prayer list.
