Place: LV, TX Comments: I posted some birthday & anniversary wishes early because Kathy & I are leaving Fri. a.m., 8/16, for a 2-week road trip to Colorado - not a bad place to escape from TX during Aug. Kathy & her neighbor lady friend are members of the Lago Vista Women's Club and have been working on various projects with the club president, Ann, who's also a long-time Lake Travis area realtor. As a reward for their support, Ann invited Kathy & the neighbor lady, plus their spouses, to join her and 2 other couples for a week's free stay in a she rented in Estes Park CO, near Rocky Mountain National Park. All we need to do is provide our share of the food, drink & transportation. Ann will eat, drink & ride free - well, OK, what a deal, we're in! So, we're planning to take a few side trips along the way and I was wondering if any of you have been up that direction and have any suggested "do's & don'ts"? Here's are the stops-overs we're planning before & after staying at Estes Park: Going up, before: Royal Gorge near Canon City & Garden of The Gods near Colorado Springs Coming back, after: Pikes Peak near Colorado Springs We're taking some small cans of compressed oxygen, since we'll be at 7,522 ft. elevation, and we will not feed the wildlife. Any other ideas, tips or info will be appreciated.
Place: LV, TX Comments: I'm posting this one a week early, since we'll be out of town til almost a week after: H a p p y 50th A n n i v e r s a r y to Sandy Joe & SueSue McGee, Fri., Aug. 23rd! Notes say: “Aug. 23, 1969, a year my wife wonders what she was thinking.” Major congrats to you two love-birds during your golden celebration & best wishes for many more!

Place: LV, TX Comments: SNL - It was about 97 & cloudy down here near Lake Travis early last evening when I saw your note about rain in Richardson. We could only wish some of it would drift down our way. Well, our luck changed later in the evening with a good, hard downpour for about 15 min., complete w/thunder & lightning. Like you, we'll take it - even if it felt like a sauna out there this morning while feeding the deer.

Place: Richardson Comments: Toni - Glad y'all are back and that it was a great vacation! I can hardly believe it rained this morning!! Mid-Aug, no rain, steaming and low and behold this morning before dawn it was raining!! Nothing big but, a slow light rain for several hours here in E. Richardson and then cloudy skies. I'll take it!
Place: Melissa TX USA Comments: Just wanted to send happy birthday and happy anniversary wishes to all of those celebrating in my absence from the GB. We had a great trip to Florida with my son and his family. I will share some photos with everyone on FB. For the first time in my life I rested well while on vacation. Not sure if it was the wonderful bed or the salt water! Hope everyone stays cool as we returned to an inferno! For the first time I along w/Sally Taylor) am not going to be picked on for being the youngest in the group! Who knew Paul was really the baby in the class? Glad to be home but looking forward to our vacation from our vacation soon! I’m pooped! Love to all!
Place: LV, TX Comments: OK, Paul - we see the connection now - thanks for the refresher!
Place: LV, TX Comments: A bit past midnight - hope no one turned into a pumpkin ... H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Paul Scholte & Sheryl (67’r) Bunyard, for Aug. 12th!
Place: Edmond Comments: Don, Thanks for the well wishes and for how you keep up with us all. I will clear up the confusion. While they do a bone marrow biopsy to determine stem cell eligibility, the procedure is actually stem cell replacement therapy using my own stem cells.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Getting this caught up ... H a p p y 46th A n n i v e r s a r y to Paul & Kathy Scholte, for Aug. 10th!
Place: LV, TX Comments: Paul - Your test results are terrific news - and we sure haven't been getting a lot of that lately! Sandy said you could now have a bone marrow transplant. I thought you were having stem cell replacement therapy. Are you having one or both these procedures performed? That sounds like a helluva load. Also glad to hear about your & Kathy's anniversary, as well as your birthday, and I'll add both to my lists.
Place: LV, TX Comments: Jerry & others beat me to it, but here goes anyway ... H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Jack Hawkins, for Fri., Aug. 9th!
Place: Richardson Comments: Good thing you never made that claim!
Place: Edmond Comments: I’ve never claimed I’m not crazy. 🤪 |
