Ada - Thanks for the clarification!  Might ask SNL if she'd kindly add 'JNBryan' to your pic in Early Days.

Jim - I was one of the 1st graders who had to switch from Lisbon to Oliver around mid-year.  As I said previously, it seemed like I'd known Sidney all along, but just couldn't place him at Oliver.  David Hamm swears he could though.

Regarding that post about your sheriff's deputy being gunned down, that's an awful tragedy no matter what time of the year, but especially when youngsters are left fatherless during the holidays.  I heard on the radio today another news story of an officer who was run-down by a guy after a high-speed chase.  He left 3 kids behind.  Count your blessings.

Let me get off that sad subject and wish all my classmates a very happy, safe, prosperous & get-together New Year 2020!  Here's a link Kathy suggested: https://abcnews.go.com/ - scroll down to the New Year's fireworks displays for France & the U. K. (separate links) & open full-screen - heck of a show!

P. S. - Kathy's 'new' knee is healing up pretty well and she's off the cane - PT twice a week, plus meds to help sleep somewhat comfortably at night (Jameson will help a lot more tonight). [cool]

We had one of our deputies shot and killed while on a traffic stop early this AM. Chris Dickerson age 28 with a wife and two small children. The actor was caught in Shreveport and will be brought back for Capital Murder of a Peace Officer. Chris was with the SO for 8 years and was a member for 6 years as a fellow member of the Carthage FD. Great young family man and community minded. Giving back to the City/County. Tragic loss and just heartbroken.
Prayers for our SO, FD and County.

Not sure if any of you have noticed but, a week or so before Christmas, I had SSL added to our site.  That stands for "Secure Sockets Layer" and it gives us a secure protocol when on our website. With all the scamming & info stealing going on in the world I thought it was time to make us more secure.

For those not familiar with a Secure site, you need only look at the URL.  Instead of having a "http://"  it will have "https://"  the "s" indicates a secure site as well as the icon of the lock.

Hope everyone has a safe New Year's Eve and look forward to lots of get-togethers with our SOC family of friends in 2020!

Annette is correct. Sidney did go to Oliver. I have a Student Directory from our Soph year at SOC and he lived on the end of Kushla close to Pentagon Pkwy.
Who spent the first semester of First grade at Lisbon and then went to Oliver for the rest of Elementary school. Annette and Dale Smiley may have. I know there were several.

I remember Sydney being a smart student at Clara Oliver.  Very nice person, and sad to hear of his death.

Thank You Jerry & Jack for the b-day wishes!  Yes, Jerry has always referred to us as twins because we were born on the same day at the same hospital.  But since Jerry is still celebrating his 40th b-day .  .  .  I'm beginning to look like the older twin!  Hey Jerry, hope it's a good one for you today, as every day is a good one! I too am grateful for still having friends from as far back as Lisbon, Zumwalt & SOC.  Having this '66 Gang as my friends as got me thru a lot of bad times.  May each of you have a safe and joyful Christmas!  Here's to Good Friends, may we always have each others back!  May God Bless us with love, peace and health!

A very Happy 32nd Anniversary of your 40th Birthday, Jerry and a very happy birthday to Sandy aka SNL. It's been a while since our meeting at Lisbon. Shoot, it's been a while since SOC. But here we are, still friends and celebrating. Thanks to you and all you others for being my friend. Merry Christmas and hopes for a great new year.

Well today is the day.  I am wishing my old friend SNL a Happy Birthday.  As some  of you know we have referred to each other as twins for years.  However, I quit having birthdays several years ago.  So today is the 32nd anniversary of my 40th birthday.  That way I can tell everyone that I am not getting older.
Also, A MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all my old friends from SOC.
