Place: Richardson-Update on Larry Lewis Comments: Yes, it is great news on Larry! As of a few hours ago he is still breathing on his own and has recognized his family. Late yesterday they let him Face Time with his older brother and his G-dtr, whom he is very close to. Thanks to the many Bear Prayer Warriors who have sent prayers, he is still not out of the woods, please pray he gets better each day. They have begun to discuss with his family about him going to rehab for awhile because he has been sedated and lying there for more than 10 days now and counting. He will need time to get his strength back. So far . . . so good!
Place: LV, TX Comments: That's very good news regarding Larry and hope his condition continues to improve. PTL and thanks to all the 'prayer bears'!
Place: Richardson Comments: As of a few minutes ago, Larry is still holding his own. He is coming around and has recognized his kids and Martha. Miracles do happen! Finally, after more than 10 days, he seems to be improving and coming around. Thank you so much for the many prayers. He has been off the ventilator more than 24 hrs, this is great news!
Place: Richardson Comments: There is a bit of good news regarding Larry Lewis. Late yesterday they finally were able to remove the breathing tube and as of now, he's still breathing on his own. That's a big step because all 8 times before they had to put it back in because he couldn't breathe. He's weak and still so Groggy. He doesn't know what all has happened to him. He's been sedated for about 10 days! Thank you to all who sent prayers, please keep them up as he's just taken one small step. Long way to go.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Don! You're right, his SR pic isn't in the Den. For some reason he, Gordy, Gordy's bro & others didn't have their pic taken for SR yr. But if you look at our Soph Den Larry will be in it as a JR. No change in Larry's condition as of today. He can't seem to breath on his own & when they remove the breathing tube it doesn't last very long and it has to go back in. He is mostly sedated and it's really rough on his family, who are right there by his side.
Place: LV, TX Comments: H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Rosemary Zapata Cooper, for 2/19!
Place: LV, TX Comments: I didn't know Larry Lewis and couldn't find him in the '65 Den. But regardless, he's had my prayers since first mentioned and will continue, in hopes of breaking this infection and returning him home with loved ones.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thanks Roe! The latest update on Larry Lewis this morning is that he's still running a fever. They can't figure out why & meds aren't helping reduce it. He is also still on a breathing tube. It has been a week today that all this started from what was to be a "simple procedure". Larry & Martha are really good people and I can't stop thinking about him. Wish I wasn't 300 miles away!
Place: DeKalb Comments: So sorry about Larry Lewis, I too knew him since the 5th grade, I threw his Dallas Times Herald when we were in grade school. Larry lived with his Mother & Grandmother, very nice people. We also play grade school football & basketball. He was a super athletic. God Bless U Larry & Martha.
Place: Richardson Comments: Thank you Paul. Larry needs all the prayers we can muster. I've know him almost as long as Gordy. I've know Gordy since I was 5.
Place: Edmond Comments: Sandy, Consider it done. 🙏
Place: Richardson-Asking for prayers Comments: Many of you may know Larry Lewis, class of '65 from SOC. He always hung around my street as a kid because he was friends with Gordy Johnson & Gordy's one-year-older brother Bradley. But when I moved into an apt. in '68, my next door neighbor was none other than Larry & his new bride Martha. Best neighbor ever and of course, Gordy was always over there and the 4 of us hung out a lot together. Gordy & i went down to Dickinson in Aug 2017 to attend their 50th wedding anniversary. Fast forward to now . . . Larry is in the UTMB, University of TX Medical Branch, in Galveston. He checked-in at 9am last Tue. for a supposedly simple procedure. But something went wrong. He has been in serious condition, on a breathing tube and totally sedated since Tue afternoon. He even had an infection. It's been a very difficult week. Finally late yesterday they had removed the breathing tube & removed the drains and he was actually slightly awake and muttering a few words. We were all elated! Now, as of this morning, he's back on the breathing tube and in serious condition. PLEASE, this SOCite, my dear friend, needs all the prayers he can get. PLEASE PRAY for the recovery of Larry Lewis class of '65. Thank you.
Place: LV, TX Comments: P. S. - Intended to mention - silly little commercial at beginning & end of YouTube video, but the music in between is pretty cool.
Place: LV, TX Comments: I received an e-mail from a former Vietnam Coasty shipmate, subject line: GENERAL MOTORS BILLBOARDS IN DETROIT. It had a coupla dozen or so posters of vintage Chevys that many of us drove to school and cruised our old stomping grounds in. I found several Google links, including 1 YouTube and 1 w/still pix from GM. Thought I'd share in case others might enjoy, unless you're a hard-core Ford, Dodge/Chrysler or foreign-import fan. Here goes anyway: https://gmauthority.com/blog/2012/01/gm-posters-and-billboards-woodward/
Place: Richardson Comments: Because of the past several days of sunshine some of the buds on the trees are opening and a few shrubs have buds too. Crazy TX weather. Poor plants don't know what to do! In our area, enjoy today & tomorrow as Tue thru Thurs brings more rain. Hope everyone had a good Valentine's and now . . . it's back to cooking dinner!
