Comments: The Rebel was the show with steve McQueen. Linda, I hope you get the works at The Worx. LOL
Comments: The Rifleman starred Chuck Connors. Steve McQueen played a bounty hunter, I think it was called Wanted, Dead or Alive. Also, I think Jingles was played by Andy Divine but can't remember the show. Another old western we watched was F Troop with Forrest Tucker and another was Broken Arrow and starred Michael Anseara(sp) who was married to Barbara Eden. Since we only had one TV and these were two of Dad's favorites we watched them every week.
Comments: "The Rifleman", Steve McQueen! Linda have fun this weekend and "Happy Easter"
Comments: Tow small bits of history about Topper and Stand By Me. The St Bernard in Topper was raised by a lady name Bee Knight who is a cousin of Linda's Dad. She raised St Bernard's, New Newfoundlands, Bernese Mountain Dogs and Papillons, all running loose together. Her kennel was called Sanctuary Woods and was an hours drive from the highway up in the mountains. We had one of her Papillons for 15 years, couldn't have asked for a better pet or friend. As for Stand By Me, that was filmed here in Eugene, Brownsville and Triangle Lake. Most of it was filmed in a large warehouse here but the town setting was in Brownsville, about 45 mins from here. I was hired to drive truck for the scenery and made darn good money for the 4 weeks I worked for them. I never got to meet anyone in the movie but it was still fun.
Comments: Sandra -I don't know if WORX has moved yet. I guess I better find out since I have an appt. Sat. I loved "Gunsmoke" with James Arness. I watched it until the series ended. I also watched "Wagon Train." I also watched "Have Gun Will Travel," "The Rifleman," and the one with Steve McQueen (can't remember the name). Later, I liked "Little House on the Prairie." I cried alot at many of their episodes. Michael Landon was good at creating better than average tv shows. I liked "Bonanza," too.
Comments: Linda, has the Worxs moved their shop yet?

Comments: Me too, Karen. I never missed Twilight Zone. On Saturday night's I always watched "Wagon Trail" with my dad as he ate a bowl of Grape Nuts.
Comments: I had forgotten the name Winky Dink but I definitely remember putting the plastic screen on the TV. My Saturday kid's TV favorite was Lunch With Soupy Sales with White Fang and Black Tooth and all the others. One of the worst Saturday morning shows was Land of the Lost with the hardly frightening Sleestacks. I've seen better Halloween costumes at the 5 and Dime. I was a big fan of the Twilight Zone growing up in the 60s. One of my favorite episodes was "The Cook Book" where seemingly friendly aliens were inviting mankind to visit their lovely home planet but instead of being dinner guests, the humans learned too late that they were instead the dinner entree.
Comments: Speaking of TV shows. I liked anything to do with animals --Rin Tin Tin, My Friend Flicka, and Fury (my favorite), Lassie. I also still laugh at the I Love Lucy shows, Carol Burnett (later), and Andy Griffith shows. I'm not familiar with Winky Dink at all. I liked Amos and Andy, The Roy Rogers Show (with Dale Evans) and just about any western show. I did like Zorro. Was that a tv show or a serial movie? I remember sitting on the floor as close to our black & white tv in a cabinet. It was a tv on one side and a phonograph/radio on the other side.
Comments: Have a favor to ask of Ya'll. Please go to Christie's Blog & look at the 2 pics of her. The family is asking if any of us 66ers took those pictures!! WHO took those pictures????? Help!!!!! Let me know!!
Comments: Sandra -- I remember that you, me, and Sherry saw "Breakfast at Tiffany's" together and at the end of the movie we were passing the kleenex box. That's one of my favorite movies. Audrey Hepburn was so beautiful. Another movie I like is a black & white one called "The Enchanted Cottage." It stars Dorothy McGuire and Robert Young (I think). It's a tear jerker about a man who goes off to war (WWII) and comes back scarred physically, but the woman does not see his physical scars. I read years ago that Cher had bought the rights to the movie, but hasn't done anything with it. The movie has a good message about love. What a beautiful day here in Texas.
Comments: Happy Jack...Yes I know about JA.The hand and chirping noise as well. When I saw THEM for the first time, I was scared of anything that produced chirping noises.I heard them evernight and wondered if the ANTS would come and get me.
Comments: Not a day goes by that I don't think of Christie and her family as well as say a prayer for them. It will be a hard road, but struggles always may us stronger. ![]()
Comments: TRJ...The Theme From a Summer Place is still my Fav all time Song! Always puts me in the MOOD! |
