Comments: Thanks everyone, we are very excited!!! Rick.... you need to speak with Sally Taylor, she lives in the heart of NYC!!! Sally, can you help Rick out? When is your trip Rick?
Comments: Does anyone know what the weather is usually like in New York in May. Cold, Hot, Rain, etc. I am planning a trip.
Comments: SNL great news about your new house ,I think you will like granite better, just have to clean it a little diffrent, I love mine ,have in the kitchen , bar and small bath off the laundry room. Congrats again , you will have to have a party or should I say some one will have to give you a House Warming !
Comments: Not shopping ladies! I'm working like crazy & eating lunch while reading GB. Our shopping is at night & all weekend!! The Great Indoors has a terrific sale on their Zodiac stone (Zodiac is a different brand than Silestone, which is made by DuPont) and also their Granite! It only lasts thur this Sat!! Silestone & other products like that are man-made & are 93% quartz & very hard. They are stain resistant & yes almost as expensive as granite. But they are 1 1/2 to 2 mil thick & if you have a nice bull nose cut put on your edges they glue another piece on it to make it thicker. You can't tell as the seams are transparent. But, granite comes in 3 mil thickness and the edge is all one piece and all of it is 3 mil thick. We've shopped 4 major stores & right now Great Indoors has the best deal going! THEY are offering the Zodiac and the granite without an extra charge for the edge being put on it. All the other stores charge by the Sq Ft PLUS charge you by the linear foot for the edging. G. I. does not! At least not for this sale! Last night we found out the beautiful granite we've seen in numerous expensive model homes is one of the pieces G.I. offers! We also found out it is only .80 cents more for the granite than the man-made Zodiac!! So there you have it Linda & Susan. Silestone or any oth product like it are great but their patterns are very consistent. I absolutely love the varying and sweeping patterns on the natural granite stone. So when I saw that beautiful piece of granite... I knew it well from all the model homes we've been in lately. When I did the math & realized we were talking .80 cents difference . . . I'm getting my granite countertops!! I've picked out the sink & faucet & know exactly what color & what stain I want on my cabinets. I've also found the double ovens & microwave I want. Now all we gotta do is spend the weekend ordering it all. And Yes Toni, it does have a sink bay window and I will run the granite up to the windows edge. I agree, that's the best way. Don left for Calif this mrng & will return Fri evening. We're going to be at the new house bright & early Sat so he can sketch out our kitchen countertops & we can measure. Then it's a mad dash to Grt Indoors to order it! Then it's home to change & leave by 5:30 to arrive at the Royal Oaks Country Club by 6:00. We promised my brother we'd come to the Lake Highlands Exchange Club dinner & casino party as it's to raise money for the charities the Exchange Club sponsors. He is heading up the benefit and party. Geez, ya'll shouldn't have got me started talking about my kitchen . . . I'm consumed with it!!
Comments: Busy, busy and not shopping!
Comments: Must be a full moon inside of me...I have watery eyes for those who have lost loved ones...I have watery eyes for those who have been with their spouses for many yrs,I have watery eyes for those who have lost children and family members.I have watery eyes for those that seek peace and comfort.I have watery eyes for those who have given their lives so that we might be free...some day a BOOK
Comments: Hey ladies -- I'm back from lunch and earlier had to do a little work. Alex O'Laughlin is an Australian actor (30) who plays the lead character in the tv show "Moonlight." Unfortunately, the show has been off the air due to the writers' strike. Hopefully, it will be on again this season, or I'll wait for him....uh, it next season. A friend of mine watches the show, too and we drool over him. If you saw "August Rush" he had a minor part as a band member with Jonathan Rhys M.......,whatever. I wish I was shopping.
Comments: Uh oh! There's no telling when or if they'll be back!
Comments: Susan....granite might be just a little more expensive...I don't remember actually. Yes, we did a full backsplash in silestone too. Susan, I guess we've lost Sandy and Linda....they're shopping!
Comments: Linda, who is Alex O'Laughlin? Toni, didn't you say you used Silestone for your backsplash, too? Is it less expensive than granite?
Comments: Linda P...silestone is a manufactured look-alike to granite! The big difference....it can be guaranteed where granite cannot...natural stone...you're not in the dark ages by any stretch
Comments: Debbie, great to hear the good report from your doctor. Little "a", I guess you have been busy unpacking and settling in. Let us know when your next "gig" will be. We might just come down for a GNO to see you perform. ![]() Sandy, I know how excited you must be planning the renovations for your new home. I get a vicarious thrill out of seeing our new home customers make their selections for their new homes and then seeing them come to fruition as the home is built. My daughter is getting married in May and they are purchasing a home that they will be making some changes to as well. Sorry, McGee, the pool is already there or I would have suggested they use you. ![]() Sandra McM, how is Courtney doing?
Comments: Sandra -- Yes, you're on my "favorite" list. I tried to send you an email at home today and it got blocked. It was only a picture of Barak Obama holding a phone upside down (photo op) talking on it. When you can, email me something from your home. Did you girls go to Snuffers at Preston Center on Saturday and not Houston's? What is silestone? I'm in the dark ages on that.
Comments: Linda, look on one of the emails I've sent to you and get my address off of that. Surely I am on you favorite list. Well, maybe not after today. Jack, I like Sandy's George Clooney hair/haircut.
Comments: Great news, Deb! Keep up the good work! Sandy Mc.....I've got your back!!!!!!!! I knew exactly what you were going to come back with but didn't......lol.. ![]() ![]() Jack, I'm so glad you asked that burning question....I knew you would![]() This morning I got an email from Christie's daughter, Amy, who is extending an invitation to all of us to visit her in the evening this week. She says Christie is adjusting well to her routine. She has posted her telehone number on http://christietorbett.blogspot.com for anyone who would like to phone her for directions to her home in Rowlett. SNL, think about adding the silestone to your windowsills. It really looks good and it really cuts down on maintenance. I love mine. I can hardly wait to see your house! |
