Kits, i believe they were called was one of my favorites.  They were little squares wrapped individually three are four to a package.  They came in strawberry, banana, and chocolate.  Tasted like thick taffy.  Then there was the Laffy Taffy thin and flat, about twelve inches long and three inches wide., wrapped in a waxed paper.  I bought all my candy at the variety store in Deerpath Shopping Center.  When we stayed at my grandmother's, who lived on Marfa, we would walk to the V-Mac.  There I bought ice cream, banana fudgecicle.
Just got back from taking Courtney and Puppy Maggie home.  That puppy exhaust me.  SNL, I guess that's what triples feel like.

Carol C., Happy Birthday, most of us say something stupid on a regular basis, join in anytime.

Streaker Rick, amen brother. Wanna play cards in a few weeks? It's a guy thing. Everyone will be welcome. Cheezehead will spring for the booze.

Ms Karen MG., who do you peddle for? I'm 5 min. away. I probably bounced one off your roof.

DWF, I'm in on the meal too. Takeout, or do we have to be polite and eat with him.....

I worked at V Mac when I was in the 9th grade and Don L worked across the street at Dobbs. What fun days back then.

Thanks, everyone, for the birthday wishes.  (Tomorrow is actually the big 60, but I'll take all the good wishes that I can get!)

Sandy, McM - It took about 5 nights to catch up on our posts.  I feel really awful about missing so many announcements - both good ones and bad.  I didn't want to post until I was completely caught up, for fear of saying something stupid and then finding out that something awful had happened to someone.  I WILL NOT let myself get so far behind again!

So - Congratulations to all who have had good things happen to them (birthdays, anniversaries, awards, promotions, new jobs, good health pronouncements, great weight losses, the news that John S. and Dru will be joining us at the mini, and more).  To all who have suffered sadness and hardships, I now am part of those thinking about you and praying for you.

I will be leaving work early today to start celebrating and will not be back until Friday.  Talk with you then.

 - Carol

Miss Sandra -- Someone told me months ago what BTW means.  I had to ask, but now I won't forget?

Rick -- If Sandra and I drive by the Cherry Pit, I'll have a hat on and be slumped down in the seat.  Sandra will be laughing and recognized on the camera.

I don't remember what my favorite candy was back then, although I did like Milk Duds and something red and crunchy.  I don't remember what it was called.  About the ONLY candy I don't like is Licorice.  Over my lifetime, the dentist has LOVED me, b/c I like candy.

Let me also wish a happy birthday to Carol Carpenter.

The last time I talked with you was in the women's restroom at last year's getogether.

Perhaps I should also point out that we were talking via Sheryl Bunyard's cell phone.

Toni, my memory is not like Gary Dagley's but I lived at the corner of Utah and Garza. To get to VMack's, you go out the back door, cross Garza, down the alley, turn right onto Overton Rd., pass Jerry Mott's house (), to the next street (I forget the name) and turn left into VMack's driveway. It was a poor man's 7-11 and I made many trips there on foot when it was still safe for kids to walk to the store. If we wanted candy, we turned in coke bottles for money. (sigh) Those were the innocent days.

Linda P, The Cherry pit guy put a pole with a camera on it by the
drive way so he can watch people that are standing in front of the house, like news men , police etc. He might be able to see you drive by too, but if he's not familiar with your car then you don't have anything to worry about. LOL

Howdy to all. Congrats Sandy McM on your new position and great news about Courtney.
Dr. Dave, my favorite candy was also Slo Poke- don't know why they stopped making it. Yum, Yum. At Dollar General they have "Chicken Bones" 10 for $1.00 (although they are thinner, but still my Alan's favorite). Yes, I remember V-Macks and the sister store across the street- they owned both; but V-Macks was the best. Mama could get what few "staples" she needed, sign for it and pay them on Fri. and Daddy could take whatever "tube" that went out on the TV, check it out on the machine they had, open the cabinet drawer(s) get the correct one, pay for it and come home and replace it, and watch TV all in one trip to VMacks!!
Not any more stores like that anymore where your signature is proof enough for payment!!
