Hey Jim good neighbor:

So glad to hear you had an "easy surgery."  Stay healthy.

Sandy, you're the greatest.  What would we do without you.

McGee, I need some help with an indoor spa.  Looks like it needs to be shocked, but doesn't.  Could it be that the plaster has discolored?  It's only four years old.

Linda, I thought you got rid of those worms  It's going on six months now isn't it?  Rick, please help the poor child.  They are not contagious.
Where has everybody been, on vacation?  Very little posting over the last few days.
The Goofers where suppose to play golf today, weren't they.  Oh, sorry the golfers.  Beautiful day to be outdoors.
The last two days at the hotel have been great.  The system is nothing like what it use to be.  Once i get the programs down it should be smooth sailing.  Thank goodness.
Jim sorry to hear about your surgery.  Glad it went well and you are recuperating.

I've heard from Jim Young (via em) that he is recovering nicely frm his gall bladder surgery yesterday!    It was not as difficult as the hernia surgery he had in Nov 06.  This was a laparoscopic surgery & has less down time.  He wanted to let everyone know he's fine & hopes to post on GB by tmo or the next day!  Take care Jim . . . we miss you!

I find out all kinds of stuff by asking questions.  With Rick's input I have some options when I need worm help.  My 23 year old daughter was a little embarrassed by my questions, but, hey, people who are antique dealers know all kinds of stuff about furniture and I needed help. I think some of the dealers at that particular anitque mall are a little "hungry" so they were happy to talk.  Besides, my daughter bought her first piece of antique furniture, a sideboard.  It is English, but I did the bargaining for her and got it for less than the sale price.

Linda, that is how you get rid of borers in tree trunks, suffocating them that is, by tightly sealing the hole where they bored in. I would think that would work for furniture as well.

Rick Watts -- FYI -- Was at Montgomery Street Antique Mall in Ft. Worth Saturday and asked a dealer  about wood worms.  What he and his partner told me was to put the "stick" of WD 40 into each hole and "blast"  it.  Then wrap the piece with plastic wrap and that should suffocate the little buggars, er worms.  They also told me that I should have the "bun" (leg) replaced, that replacing it would not hurt the value of the chest. I haven't checked the bun again to make sure there is no activity; but if there is I'm going to try the WD 40.  Have you heard that method of killing wood worms b/f?

Say JS, did you ever hear anything from your feral twin sisters, Phoebe and Phobia, who were stolen and raised by wolves? Did they ever get that dental work they needed? Just wondering.

Nice of you to inquire. Elvira is still working for H&R Block and, as usual, is up to her neck in tax returns. Her busiest time of the year.

Maybe the tax season has swallowed R. Nance, also?

Yes, Linda, "Old Red" was built in 1913. On October 22, 1957 two hundred and thirty-five students from Sunset were invited to take part in a week long event of painting the old building that off-red color that we all know and appreciate today.

I know this, because my older sister, Elvira, was part of that group.

Linda, I'll warn you now, there should probably be a sign taped to John Southworth's forehead.  It should read something like this:  "Caution! Words coming from this person may be Interesting, but not necessarily true!  Believe at your own risk!!"       JS has been known to pull the wool over more than one set of eyes!
