Last night was a great night for this SOC group!  Everyone should be feeling proud this morning!!  Last night when we (Barb, KMG, Toni & me) met at Amy's house (Christie's dtr) we found Pat Williams was also there visiting. You get 6 SOC 66 girls in one room & there is definitely a lot of laughter & talkin' goin' on!!

Here's a run down of last nights events.  A SOC friend here in Dls gave me money with instructions I was to buy dinner for Amy's  family & us.  So I brought plenty of Dickey's BBQ & trimmings and dessert!  After we ate & put away the leftovers we brought Amy & Merk in the Den where Christie and all of us were visiting.  We presented Christie,Amy & Merk with a $525 Target gift certificate as that is where she buys the groceries.  I believe we actually saw Christie smile, but tears came to Amy's eyes!  She and Merk (her husband) couldn't believe it.  They were overjoyed! Then we told them there was one more gift & we gave them a beautiful card and an envelope with $1550 cash in it.  We let them know verbally, as well as in the card, that all this money was given by lots of Christie's SOC Friends because everyone loves her and wants to help.  We made sure they knew it was not just from us 4, but from her SOC Friends all over the country!  It was too much for Merk, he had to go outside.  Amy cried ... we cried!

On behalf of Christie,Amy & Merk, they want each of you to know how much your gift is appreciated & it will be a big help to them!!  It was a very emotional night to say the least.  Later we gave Christie the slot machine & she definitely liked it!!!  Ignored us the rest of the night while she pulled the handle! LOL

Christie was having a good day yesterday & that's great because she's had several really bad days.  Her brain has been swelling which has caused seizures.  The seizures are becoming more frequent.  As most of you may know by now, they were only able to get 60% of the brain tumor.  The other 40% is causing many problems.  It is becoming apparent we are losing a dear friend sooner than we thought . . .

I recvd several cks last night & expect several more this week.  I'll pool them all & take the add'l money out again next week.  God Bless ya'll for acting so quick with your gifts of love!  I am so very proud to be a member of this group!

Richard,
Just got in from church and saw the comment about the Madras coat. That was the ugly est thing I ever saw and I was so proud of it. Bought it at Turners Men's Wear in the Sanger Harris Shopping Center. Hard to find a tie that matched. It was, I think, preparing me for the "Leisure Suits" of future days. On a serious note, I always remember you as being well dressed and sporting the newest styles If we had had a "Best Dressed" favorite division I'm pretty sure you would have been elected.. There would have been no shortage of young ladies eligible for the female roll in that division also.

Richard N., I am doing exactly as you say my friend. I intend to harass, prod, insult, and shame all of the guys to enjoy each other's company. The respect, warmth, true friendship is something I have seen for months. A game of golf, baseball game, poker game, is only the excuse to meet. The Golden Bear Open will be the beginning. I wish I had known you better in our school days, come back to Texas. We will take your ice cream money too......

JD,
Those of us that opened up Clara Oliver got a special treat. We got to go to another school (in my case Lisbon) and meet all those great guys then came together the second semester at Clara Oliver and met a new group of friends. Yuvonne and I met at Oliver in the first grade. She didn't ask me for a date until our SR year at SOC. You are right we made many great friends and have known each other for a long time.

 Karen, Karen, Karen,
What color is the sky in that misguided world you live in? I even remember the word that won the contest for me:  dissirregardless. Sorry to have to keep setting you straight. I will agree with JD though "You are a Winner ! " Just not in the 3rd grade Super All World Spelling Championship.

Hey Trouble, when you say "some" 54 years, what exactly do you mean 50, 51, 52, 53, or 54 years??   I've known Shortcake for 53 years!

Woohoo!! Thanks JD, you are definitely the best!

Well Smiley, it looks like we are "co-winners" today. Better run down to Walmart for those $4 prescriptions and load up on anti-dementia pills. I know it's a hard pill to swallow but I did beat you like a red-headed stepchild back then.

Hey, my brother once belched the entire "1812 Overture" in perfect pitch. The cannon fire he handled a bit differently, however.  I like it when this group bring the topics down to a level I can understand.
