Comments: John - I cannot believe that you even believe that you might have been arrested at our dinner on Saturday night - that was actually quite mild compared to what we usually have - I mean when we found that you were coming we cancelled the dancing girls because we did not want to embarress you
Comments: This morning at 8:00 I staggered into the dining area at the DoubleTree and was greeted by the still-hanging "Happy 60th Birthday" banner in the lobby. What a hoot the previous day had been. I don't know where to start and can't possibly thank everyone who helped make the weekend extra special for Dru and I. How can one describe the Class of '66? ... Caring, Feisty, Generous, Rowdy, Fun, Youthful, Exhuberant, Successful, Hyperactive etc. It was a treat for us to finally meet face to face with some of the legends of the guestbook. Everyone had a story to tell. One simple question I frequently asked was "where did you live in Oak Cliff?" Invariably, the answer would lead to a flood of memories long forgotten. Jana and Karen floored me by stirring up some memories of fun times on Brownlee and old neighbors like the Radkes and Grimlands. Saturday evening ended with a group of 20 to 25 of us in a cozy backroom at iFratelli's italian restaurant off Macarthur. After the frenzy of the afternoon getogether, Dru and I were ready for a quiet romantic little sit-down dinner with our new friends. Well, forget that. After the riot at IFratelli's, Dru and I considered ourselves lucky not to be sitting handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser. I'm sure the poor waitress will be asking for a two week leave of absence after dealing with our group. But the chow (or is that "ciao"?) was Great! I'll try to post more a little later as I think of others to pick on ... er, I mean "thank".
Comments: JD-I never did get a chance to ask you about a Tech - Minnesota bowl game. Tech had them just where they wanted them at half, Minn up by about 4 td's. you know the final Ada Ann - hope the ride home beats the one getting here. It was so good to see you Sandy Mc - you still look like a million dollars but you had a lot of competition in the room. come see my girl sing with me and Georgene one Sunday
Comments: SNL - I have now downloaded my pictures to a disc and will put them into the mail the first thing in the morning. Well, second thing - I have my dr. appointment with my migraine dr. in the morning.
Comments: WOW! Seems as though I missed quite the party! Jack stripping?!? Bovie as a Deb?!? (Will the hotel allow us to come back?) Barb, I can't think of a nicer person to have won the KC goodies. Enjoy them all. KMG, what did John S. bring for you? Ada, I'm glad that you made it to the party but sorry that you had such a hard time getting there. Hopefully the rest of your trip will be easier. I'm already looking forward to the fall get-together. BLB, it's good that Sarah wasn't hurt too badly. Later - Carol
Comments: Toni I was referring to my bad spelling bounce witch sure have been bunch. Sorry
Comments: It was great seeing everyone again yesterday. Sarah and I had a blast. For those of you who missed the mini reunion, please make an attempt to come to the next one. SNL said it appropriately when we honored Christie with a toast. You never know who will not be around to enjoy the family of SOC friends. J.D. Thanks for the drink, but especially the kind words about me. Sarah was teary eyed. Thanks again Sandy for putting this together. Thought for the week is in honor of stripper Jack. "It doesn't matter if you can't dance, Just get up and dance."
Comments: I must be using the same keyboard as Mr. Capps...J.D., thanks for everything is what I meant to say...lol
Comments: Had a great time yesterday. Hey SNL, I'd have to agree with Ronney about the room being hot but I think it's because of all the glass on one side...and a lot of hot air Bruce added!! The thing I enjoyed was being able to put my ailing foot up on one of the sofas to give it a rest. I never knew Bovie looked so charming in a Golden Deb hat! JD, thanks for everyone....and Karen and Jimmie, we REALLY enjoyed the wine...sorry we got stuck in the corner and couldn't tell you personally! I'm glad everyone enjoyed the pictures we took of OC back in 2/08. Sandy McM, Linda P, Debbie M and I had a great time. John Southworth, it was really nice to finally meet you and I thought you were kidding when you said you had to put on your "eating" pants!!! Your gift to Karen MG brought down the house with laughter last night. Whisking, whisking, whisking the night away.....Jack, that song will be treasured for a long time to come, right Karen? Happy Birthday to all....
Comments: Just got home from the mini-had a really great time. Had breakfast this morning with JD & Southworth - great way to start the morning
Comments: Yesterday was a lot of fun. I had a jaw and headache from talking so much. Buddy, it was great to see you again and nice meeting Geogene. Glad you guys joined up and thanks for bringing the memories. We'll keep in touch. Just about finished packing and about to pay some bills on line before I leave. Bobby sorry we missed you. Glad your daughter is alright. Gary D. I'm not through talking with you yet.
Comments: Carol I was the lucky winner of your wonderful "Best of Kansas City " Don and I have been going thru the box and sampling what we can this morning. Can't wait to try the BBQ sauce next time wee cook out. We missed you being here but are looking forward to seeing you at the next one. Again thank you for the wonderful box of goodies. love Barb
Comments: As I drug myself out of bed this mrng I was thinking, "Wow, what a great time we had yesterday!" Not sure if it was the B-day cakes, the music, Happy Jack stripping or what ... but it was FUN!!! ![]() THANKS to everyone who made the decision to come and especially to those who drove from out of town & to Ada Ann & JD who flew in from NH and WI. We were able to get a great group picture of all SOCites while all the spouses snapped the cameras. PLEASE, if you got shots of the group photo, send me your photos!! Also, today or tomorrow... download your photos from your camera, put them on a CD and mail them ASAP to me. All the cameras have such a high pixel rate now days making each pic huge, so they are hard to send thru email. I prefer you don't reduce them as some of you have altered the size and resolution to where I can't use them on the site. If you want to see pictures ... You gotta participate!! Surely ya'll can download them and get a CD in the mail within two days. Of course it'll take me several nights to go thru a few hundred pics & post about 50... but I can't wait to start!! ![]() I made a decision last night. Everyone who was there will get a 5x7 of the group shot. There had to be at least 8 different cameras clicking ... surely we got one good one! ![]() Now, we're off to the new house to do some more manual labor and tonight to my brothers to help him celebrate his birthday!! I'll be checking the mailbox for CDs & hope to get them soon!! If you only have a few photos to send... go ahead and send them email. But when you have more than 6 it's just too hard using email. THANKS to EVERYONE for making 6-7-8 a memorable date!!
Comments: Missed you again, BLB. It was fun, even though the room was a bit hot. I was sweating like a prisoner on the work line. Katie is fine. Making all A's in grad school and still working as a court-appointed child advocate for the county. And, yes, she and Brandon are still together. But, that "together" is by long distance right now. He is still in Belton and she is in Huntsville. Sorry to hear about your daughter's accident.
Comments: I was looking forward to laughing with all my SOCITES,but something happened. My daughter Sarah,17, was at a camp ,south of Austin, learning to be a counselor for kids.On the way home, outside of Belton, where 4 lanes go down to 2, was in a wreck.Fortunately, her brother John, had given her his SUV to drive for protection, instead of her little honda. She hit going 45 miles an hr.She would have been in Scott and White or maybe even worse had it not been for her brother. She has a severe neck sprain from a whiplash, but so far, thats all.I am blessed thats all that happened and solicit your thoughts and prayers for my Sarah.I look forward to the huggin, kissin, laughing , and shaking hands at our next get together.Hey Ronney, how's our girl doin? Does she still have her beau? |
