Comments: I rcvd this from a neighbor & again from another retired Coastie this weekend. It really captures many of our concerns about national issues & our politicians' behavior, but much more eloquently than some of us were able to do yesterday here on the g/b. Call him 'Joe American': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZPch2k63uj4 The 'DC street-gang' up north needs to hear a lot of this from a lot of us, however you care to express it - Amen.
Comments: My mistake in the anniversary note for Bob & Eva - it should read 6/21 & 6/28 - my apologies also. SNL said she would make an online correction soon. Donnie & Barb - You can count us in for prayers that Kellye's surgery will be successful & provide the relief she needs.
Comments: Happy Anniversary to Bob and Eva (whether it's June 21st or July 21st) and hope you make the most of your special day. Barb and Donnie, you know I will keep Kellye in my prayers. She reminds me a lot of my own daughter who is also 37. My niece had that surgery recently and is doing great. JS, your daughter looks absolutely beautiful and it's good to know that her healing continues. I know you are proud of her and her recovery.
Comments: DWF-BARB- Geo and i have Kellye in our prayers in this time of need. her mom and dad too
Comments: Memo To: Don and Barbara Don, I still keep an email that you sent me exactly two years ago. You were offering encouragement and prayer for my daughter Jill (then 22) who was in a coma in a San Antonio hospital. She pulled through and is improving each year. http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/jill-fathers_day.jpg Dru and I are honored to add your Kellye to our prayer list. There's not many things worse than a child in pain.
Comments: I have definitely put her on my prayer list. I told her that if she would drink a bunch of those margaritas and spray some WD40 on her hip she would feel a lot better!!! Of course that was after we had drank a lot of those margaritas
Comments: Hope all are having a wonderful weekend. We certainly are. We would like to ask all our SOC friends that you keep our daughter Kellye in your thoughts and prayers as she goes in for hip replacement surgery on Monday morning. she has been in pain for quite some time and this should get her up to 100% again. She just turned 37 today. Bob and Eva - Happy anniversary
Comments: H a p p y A n n i v e r s a r y !!! to Bob & Eva Bradford, married 6/21 in Cozumel, MX (private & went snorkeling afterwards), & again 6/28 in Waco, TX (w/family). We trust you’ll see this tonight or tomorrow, after resting up from the hot-tub celebration – careful! Congratulations & best wishes for many more!
Comments: Susan P. - you are one step ahead of me KMG - U Da Girl !!! Don L -The DC Street -Gangs is good but Sandy Mc's Dipsticks of DC is a classic. Happy Jack is my political adviser and who can argue with the moves hAPPY jACK can make Kathleen - we all love the USA and as Don said we must keep the "U" as United We Stand as in Strong Economy and Strong Dollar which will take energy independence
Comments: Kathleen BBC and PBS have one viewpoint. Too bad it is so one sided the horses pulling the wagon are about to tip over on the left side. Windfall profits was one of many Carter blumders of the 70's(remember gas lines). Exon's O R (operating ratio) was 92 last Q that is makeing .08 cents on a dollar profit. Coke's OR was 85 that is .15 cents profit on a buck should we double windfall on coke because it makes too much money. Keep in mind after tax breaks Exon pays 15% in taxes for record taxes the last ? years almost twice in taxes than profit. This is data you will never see on BBC,PBS,or CNN. Bottom line we need Clean Nuc, Clean Coal,Clean Oil, Wind, Solar and future energe sources and let a free market see who is king
Comments: Buddy, My information came from the BBC and National Public Radio. You should never encourage drilling on public lands and if you checked it out then you would discover that drilling on our public land would only produce about two percent of the available oil we need. It is interesting that returning some of the "windfall profit tax" was vetoed this week in the Senate by the Republicans. I don't necessarily agree with giving the money back to the people, but I don't believe in giving oil companies all the tax benefits they receive either, Especially since these same companies eliminated all the competition. I was told by a follow classmate who lives in Houston and works in the oil business that there were over 200 oil companies in Houston when President Bush took office. We now have only three major oil companies. I also agree with Don we need to be energy independent and develop alternative sources of energy. Germany(a country with not a lot of sun) is a good example of a country that is using solar power. I understand we are developing wind power in Texas.
Comments: I signed up also, Buddy. As a matter of act, I donated a week ago and ordered a bumper sticker!
Comments: Thanks, Buddy - I'm in also. I don't give a hoot about political parties anymore, so I'm not choosing sides to argue. We're way past that point & all that politics has gotten us is divided & arguing, but not doing anything. Our elected officials have basically become power & control-obsessed, squabbling DC street-gangs. I'd like to see us pursue ALL energy solutions, old & new. And most of all, I'd like to see us put the 'U' back into the USA & start behaving like it, again.
Comments: Kathleen I think you have seen too much Michael Moore for data from Mars. USA needs to tap in its own energy and not make the DICTATORS and WAR LORDS of the world so strong , fat and happy.
Comments: Buddy, I would be happy to sign a petition that would authorize the development of alternative forms of energy and improve public transportation. We do not need to be developing oil fields in the Alaska wilderness and other environmentally sensitive areas. (There isn't enough oil to make much of a difference). Off-shore drilling in Alaska threatens the entire environment of that area. It puts endangered species at greater risk and is negative for native people. I wonder if President Bush truly wants to develop these oil fields because the high price of oil is artificially created between him and the House of Saud. Why else would he go to the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, to get their cooperation to put pressure on the European Union to put sanctions on Iraqi oil? |
