John S., I was spoiled rotten as my older brother (19 yrs my senior) was gone from our home when I was born!  I really wish I could have had another brother or sister closer to my age.  I didn't have a pony but I did have a Cushman motorized car that I drove all over Singing Hills.  The kids used to line up to ride in it - kept us entertained for hours!

Don L, I really enjoyed Gran Torino - not a show for sissies that's for sure.  It's hard to believe that Clint Eastwood is that old.

Sandy McM....you can be my pilot anytime...anywhere!  Annette, how could you have possibly known about the Butt-Hole Surfers?

Ada Ann, our Shortcake should be the class posterchild for severe illnesses.  She has withstood more than her share and just like a well maintained Timex...she took a lickin' and kept on tickin'....and I am wishing for the same thing for you too.   My late husband went through an entire summer of colon-surgeries (3) and bounced back.  Bruce and I will be praying for you.

Happy Anniversary to Don and Barbara - our class' answer to Ken and Barbie!!

Rosemary Zapata Cooper had a biopsy done last Friday.  She is needing prayers for the results on Tuesday and the surgery she is undergoing at Baylor - Irving on Thursday.  Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Janet Hohhertz Bronstad - happy belated birthday cutie!

Happy Anniversary Donnie & Barbara!  Hope ya'll have a really great day planned.

You are so right KMG.....that really does explain a lot that we have been wondering about - and, yes I did fall and hit my head when I was about four and split it open and have to have stitches also so you can stop wondering about that also

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY TO LOVE LEGENDS DONNIE AND BARBARA FUGATE!! Hope you guys have a special evening to celebrate.

I remember going to Chester Clinic when I was 6 years old after my neighbor Gary Anderson (when I lived on Overton) was pulling me in a wagon and it turned over and my head hit a brick bordering his flowerbed. (Yes, I know that explains a lot. lol) I got three stitches and a lollipop. My family doctor was Dr. Samuel
Roland Brown.

Ada Ann, I have seen that article but it doesn't say anything about other family members other than his wife & son who plays in that odd-named band!   If I have Dr. Dean's first name I might can make the connection.  But thanks for looking.

Ada Ann, You are in my prayers for a good report & I believe it will be nothing!!  As Shortcake said, waiting is probably the worst part!  Keep your mind off it by talking with us here!!!  Love you!

OK, I put the wrong last name, but I promise it's true!  Dr. Dean (can't remember his first name) is/was the brother of Jerry Haynes - aka Mr. Peppermint.  Jack if you can remember Dr. Dean's first name I'll research it.  I believe my mom told me they had different Dad's & that's why their last names were diff. I know Jerry Haynes was a Woodrow Wilson graduate!

Congratulations to Donnie & Barbara on their 41st Anniversary today!!  (I guess all that ether & alcohol affected Don L's calculating ability     Ya'll are an outstanding example of a great marriage!

Don L get with me before you call George abt the tapes.  He lives here in the area and I've spoken with him before.  I agree, we should get whatever we can and have them converted.  Who knows what we may find!

Pool Guy - I was hoping somebody else knew Dr. Woody or his family.  I found the following article about his passing earlier before posting & sent a copy to my brother - p. 31, top left:

Don L., Dr. Woody passed away a few months ago. I dated daughter Sandy (Kimball) who married Chris Johnson (Sunset, Tx. A&M). Our sons grew up together in Plano. Wonderful family, had many a cold beers with that group.

I noticed several recent posts about Chester Clinic - that little white brick/stone bldg, located on Lancaster Rd., roughly across from Griff's hamburgers - later became McDonald's, I think.

It did not bring back any fond memories - just pain, plus the smell of ether & alcohol.  I had tonsils removed there, as well as embedded glass from a foot, was stitched up a few times, and of course, had all those childhood shots.

I worked for a while at the A&P grocery store in SOC shopping center, a.k.a. Lancaster-Kiest shopping center, just north of the clinic, along with a few other SOC guys.

Our family doctor became Lloyd C. Woody, D.O., who originally had a small family practice clinic near Clarendon & Ewing, then moved to Jefferson Blvd, near Westmoreland - very nice guy.
