My 2 cents,
Not one act of terrorism has happened on American soil since 9-11-2001 thanks to President Bush. And there has been many attempts. The War that many blame on Bush was approved by a Democratic congress.
Even Hillary admits to voting for it. Bush kept us safe, I wonder what Obama will do.

Okay, Everyone.  It is time to agree to disagree.  Last night, after Joe's evening tirade about all of this stuff, I told him that I need positive thoughts around me and that I did not want to hear it again from him.  I am asking all of you to get on a more positive subject.  Thanks!

It is really nice to see that we all have some what the same opinion (except nance) about the new prez. Get your guns, buy your ammo and get ready to defend your property till he wants it for his family summer place. do not be fooled by his smooth talk, smooth looks and the way he tries to seem like he cares for this country,it ain't so and hopefully we can get a real person in his place in a short four years . pray for the health for the prez and vice prez ,cause we do not want the witch from california in charge! sorry if I spoke out of turn!

My very dear friend Richard...our relationship is worth more to me than this discussion...however...the politicians LOST, if you want to use the term, the war...not our military. 1933 was when the tax increases by the then President plunged the country into the depression...1929 was the collapse of wall street...and although a very bad time in history...it really was 1933 that made the economy fail. And finally...I can't understand, except that you appear neither conservative not progressive...a middle man...I just can't see why W is so much on your POOP List...and if you look at history of Presidential ratings...even John Kennedy's ratings were in the tank just before he was killed. My point is that even Jesus would have bad ratings and he does with the liberal press...because the liberal press want us to be a socialist country...I hope Obama is successful...but not with his socialists agenda...however the Messiah will be forever on top of the ratings because the media as much as anything else elected this guy by not telling the truth...I live close enough to Illinois to have seen this guy in action...or non action. His freezing of wages is PR...nothing to scream about...his executive orders on ethics is not the greatest thing ever done and will not...I repeat will not stop the cheating, lying and deception of those in Washington.
And please...his review of GITMO is also political...water boarding and torture appears to be his reason...this country water-boarded 3 people...and it works...with no real physical harm...unlike what the Viet Cong did to our POWs's...now that was torture!

Love you guy...will have noting more to say...and will not respond to anything Hussein does unless it costs military loss of life giving them no manner to defend themselves...I honestly hope that our dark days don't start when Hussein realizes he can do whatever he wants...

Left, right, center or undecided - let it never be said that SOC folks don't give a damn or their opinions are irrelevant - especially during times when mutual respect & unity have been hard to come by.

JD, I'm waiting for the logic.

(just kidding)

Just so I don't have to revisit history class the following is taken from an encyclopedia:  The Great Depression was a worldwide economic downturn starting in most places in 1929 and ending at different times in the 1930s or early 1940s for different countries.

I won't belabor all of you points other than the first; it's not only a weak argument, it's irrelevant....attacks on US soil are quite rare under all circumstances; also, your second point...Bin Laden is generally given credit for those attacks, or at least linked to them.  The French were in VN in the 50's and Kennedy got us there in the 60's.  And we lost Vietnam, not because of the service men/women, but because of the mis-management of the war by Johnson and his crew, and Nixon to a great extent. Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon all agreed that a land war in Asia couldn't be won and it wasn't.  Bush has put us in the same position. I don't like you being wounded or seeing dying young men, I'd just rather we didn't have another generation of wounded and dying young men/women and that's where we are.

As I read our comments...this is pretty heady stuff...probably more than it needs to be.  We all share the same basic principles...we must since we grew up in the same neighborhoods. I just don't like Bush (I like his father), I'm glad he's gone and I think Barack Obama has earned his shot at the job and should do well.

Richard i'm sure we could have a cold one and agree on many things. i think in Nov of 06 Bush was the coach or Q-back and the team didn't want to play for him (new players). the past is the past no more Bush bash he is gone. now there is a new team in town show me some game. show me what you got, stop the finger pointing, stand on you re on two feet needs to apply now. bash Bush is just a country divider. no spin on this end JS

on the lighter side Sandy Joe, Garry the Dag and i had the honor to meet and play golf with (the big Gum in heaven) Jim Stoehr's son. Gum i know would be so proud, Diane and step dad Bob Round did a good job on Jr(Kyle)

As I respect all of your comments...please follow my logic.

1. I'm not sure that not being attacked since 9-11 is, as described...weak...given the fact that it is true.
2. The entire "radical" Muslim world has for years...before Mr. Bin Ladin...addressed the eradication of America...our Embassy's being bombed over the last 20 years. The USS Cole. Marine barracks in the middle east...and could with more time provide additional examples. America didn't have to do anything for these events to happen...even if we locked ourselves within our boarders.
3. Our involvement in Vietnam actually started in the 50's and didn't end until the 70's. Yes, men and women of our military have died in the course of the 2 wars...or conflicts or whatever you want to call them...but this is a all volunteer military...no draft and all who enter...know but one thing...their job is to do their job to the best of their ability...and know that death may be the outcome. As sad as that is...and as upset each death makes me...they know the risk. And...I still believe...if the worlds intelligence had any conflicting evidence that Iraq did not have weapons of mass destruction...then where was it...everyone reported identical information and accusations...my President Bush acted on this intelligence as did other countries who did join him.
4. We, the U.S. military did not lose a battle in Vietnam...after Tet 1968, the N. Vietnamese were prepared to surrender until they heard Cronkite say that this attack (TET) was the worse defeat in American history...the enemy knew they could wait us out because the media and the weak politicians would fold. Wait us out they did...but we never lost the War.
5. History will judge Bush as it did Jimmy Carter...who is now considered  the worst President...let's let 20 years go by and judge W at that time...you might be correct...but one day is not enough time to judge.
6. This recession is no where near 1929...and it was actually 1933 when it all collapsed...stop watching CNN and turn to the truth in the Fox Business Network...we are no where near that bad.
7. Most of the world has always hated America...the French, the Germans...even though we have saved them twice...I personally don't care what other countries think...because most countries do nothing to help the world like we in America do.
8. please be more clear about the global damage he has done before I can respond...if you are talking Global Warming...well that is a problem with this theory...come to Wisconsin and see how hot it is today...and if we believe we can change this globe and God's creation...we are a really arrogant group of people...the temperature over the past 10 years has gone down...not up.
9. Also please advise what he has done to science and health...
10. The republican party had been going down hill long before W came along...look at their control of congress...these were not spend thrifts...they blew as much money as any democrat lead congress...except the one we now have when they are through...

I love you and all my classmates like my own family...but if you believe W could...by himself do all this and completely by himself...he should have a lot more power than he actually did.
Hate is a terrible word...but this triad you gave is full of Democratic talking points...as presented by the liberal left media.

Please take a deep breath and look through some one else glasses.

Did he disappoint me...yes...but I've been to war...I have had men die in my arms...because I couldn't save them...and I know what death is...and our homeland has not had another attack since 9-11...and it is hard to believe it was an accident. Also...consider all the men & women who have died in our 2 wars...then count all the people in America murdered in 2008, killed on highways by drunken drivers...the the number of our military look small.

But you as my fellow American have the right, and responsibility to air your thoughts...it is one of the major differences between us and almost every other country in the world.

I apologize if this was long...but My brother RN asked my response...

Richard,

I feel certain that Obama will be successful with his agenda, which is what scares the doodle out of me.  He will face virtually no opposition from Congress, and of course the media will continue to back him without question...and we of the loyal opposition will be sent to his re-education camps by his Civilian National Security Force.  (Just slightly kidding regarding that last point.)

While Obama may not be as radical as I believe him to be, I'm pretty sure that he's not as centrist as his machine has portrayed him to be.  I'm afraid that the "America is just another country" crowd and the "I deserve a handout" crowd will see their expectations regarding Obama fulfilled, while those of you of goodwill who voted for him (I still think of you as one of the good guys!) will get the shaft and have your pockets picked along with the rest of us.

...but maybe I'm wrong.

Buddy C, I'm not entirely in disagreement with your comments.  But I would tend to hold a two term President accountable for the state of the union, economy, etc.  I haven't gotten over Carter in 30 years, and I'm certainly not going to get over Bush overnight.  By the way, did you notice the Clinton's completely ignore the Carter's even refusing the shake their hands....tough crowd.

Socites, I suggest we treat all elected (local, state, national) officals as they do thieves in China. If they are crooks, or caught stealing, cut their hands off.
We would not have to buy as many mittens for the SOB's during the winter months.
Question, who would have held the Bible for this guy yesterday.......
