By the way Jack, the flat tax issue has been debated for years. It sounds good, but has lots of problems implementing. Other ideas include eliminating income taxes and just have a federal sales tax..the theory being the more the rich spend the more taxes they pay, etc.  It also has problems.  There is a view that one of the biggest reasons the US has evolved as the strongest on earth goes back to initiating the income tax and building a strong income source for the government.  Just thoughts...no positions one way or the other.

JD, please, you pick up bar tabs bigger than most folks tax bill.  You know the old saying, nobody has compasion for the guy with a scratch on his Porsche.

One good thing about the tax cheaters; at least they're sending Tom Daschle packing...again. Now he is another character I view with some loathing...really arrogant, vicious, mean-spirited guy.

Kathleen, we don't NEED to reform the IRS and the tax codes, we need to do away with them and go to a flat tax. What the necessary percentage would be can be debated. I'm glad that you think paying MOST of your taxes is OK.
You know good and well that if the same thing happened with the Bush administration you would have been yelling about big conspiracies, good ol' boys clubs, fraud and cheaters and demanding head roll and jail time.
Oh, did you hear? NONE of them are paying any penalties for the unpaid taxes.  Did you understand that the "changes" campaigned about were changing back to the Clinton retreads??

Pool Guy, any idea why the Blondie guy had a towel in his pocket??

Cheezehead, Bay Watch Capps has looked at some old films of Golden Bear football games. He says there is a skinney blonde guy with a towel in his back pocket running the sidelines. The geek is kissing Chrome Dome Mattingley's butt, and trying to get the attention of any female in the stands that will look his way. Who is this guy?

OK, 'Shovel' - There you go digging again, earning your new nickname.  Help us understand where this guilt trip came from; the one that 'the rest' of us should be taking during Black History Month, but you're exempt due to voting for Obama?

BTW - The 'IRS' may be well-overdue for a name change.  It's never really been what you might call a customary 'Service' - have you been 'served' lately (other than an audit notice)?  Why not call it 'RCA' - Revenue Collection Agency?

John, Richard - I think if THE PREZ keeps making appointments we may balance the budget but run out of Democrats to appoint

Nice response.

Are there any further gatherings planned in the near future?...besides GNO's.

Richard, at least you and I can take comfort in knowing that our earlier votes for Obama pretty much relieve us of any guilt induced obligations that may face the rest of our classmates during Black History Month.

Now regarding all the tax cheats that are emerging in Washington, I find that most unsettling. Particularly when they only come clean once they're nominated for a Cabinet post. One can assume that had they not been scrutinized for their prospective job, then most likely they'd NEVER have coughed up those back taxes.

And I imagine Tom Daschle withdrew himself from consideration because he didn't want to give up the millions he was making lobbying the health care industry. Why forfeit the Big Bucks for a low paying, but high profile job on Team Obama?

Bay Watch Capps, say hey no. 45, is that you wearing garters on yo' thigh pads? You were the straw that stirred the ladies drinks.
Richard, you didn't need a helmet. Just walk the sidelines with a black book. You would have been a busy lad after the games.

...and the tax code, I think, is perfect the way it is.  You make money and send it in to the IRS....not confusing at all.

I don't think people are saying these folks didn't pay their taxes.  I think THEY said they didn't pay their taxes.

Jack, I wish they would quit saying that these people refused to pay their taxes because they did pay most of them. With over 70,000 pages in the tax code, it is no wonder some honest Americans are confused when it comes to paying taxes. I think we desperately need to reform the IRS and our tax codes.
