Comments: James, the airplane was a few miles down the river-- I am at 115th St and it landed in the 50's or 60s I think. What an amazing story! Sandy, the name sounds familiar but. . . I would love to stay there--probably quite expensive though ( I didn't check). This got me thinking-- I haven't been to Dallas since the reunion. I go to Galveston all the time but. . . I have to think of a way. . . So, my favorite Mexican dish is chicken enchiladas with salsa verde and the place my parents would take me closed. Where can I get that? Are there any places to hear country western music? We used to go to the Longhorn ballroom many years ago. What places should I go to?. The NYTimes article was trying to say how cosmopolitan Dallas is but did not get any of the local flavor. We did finally make it to the Nasher but other than that, when my parents lived in Richardson (for almost forty years) we mainly stayed in N. Dallas. My daughter loves the shopping malls since we have none but . . Really! Is there anything in Oak Clff that is interesting? --has to be!! Isn't there a place called Bishop Arts? I would love all the information you can give. I didn't get the condescending tone of the article but I know from experience that what is written about is often not worth doing--and is out of date-- unless it is specifically focused on one thing, such as a partaicular art exhibition or event in town. Best wishes to Bobby, and special thoughts to Karen's mom and Ada Ann (hope you are warm!) and her mom. Actually, at this point so many of our parents need special thoughts and prayers! It is tough getting old!
Comments: Now we do have a problem...go to Drudge Report and find the report on Health Care under this new stimulus plan...wow...if the overseeing body thinks you are to old to get a life saving procedure...you won't get it...sounds like President Hussein wants to get rid of us old people...but it will save money...especially if the old people start dying because they can get medical aid because of their age and life expectancy!

Comments: Sally I don't know if you remember Lena Lyles, but she was, and probably still is managing The Belmont. It's a pretty neat place and has a fabulous view.
Comments: Happy Birthday Bobby - hope it is great! Thanks for dinner tonight Toni - I know that it was great!!!!! Mom is going to have to have a test tomorrow to see if she has any blockages.  They did a stress test and said there is definitely a problem - they just don't know what.

Comments: Sally, I'm guessing the author of the 36 Hours in Dallas was attempting to write a positive article about Big D. I'm not sure she got there. She seemed to have some fairly dated and preconceived notions about what Dallas is all about. From out here on the west coast, it seemed she was spinning her story a bit poorly...condensending, almost. Of course, you'll get the same spin if a Texas writes about NYC....or LA.
Comments: jack, what part is wrong? Nothing in the article talked about the Dallas I lived in but that was years ago. I would have preferred some local color--honky tonks, dance halls, etc. No more longhorn ballroom-- is there any of this left in Dallas? Other parts of Texas have them but. . .. I thought it was interesting that they found the Belmont Hotel in Oak Cliff. The place must be Cool-- or Hot or. . . whatever!
