Comments: Rick, yes we did get a great pic of the Crest Theater. Surprisingly, it looked better than anything else in that shopping center, but it was vacant. What a shame. John, what movie theaters are you attending these days? The theaters I go to don't have balconies...did I miss something?
Comments: Sally, I went to the Belmont hotel with the class of 63' (Southworth's class) We ate at the Cliff Cafe, had a lot of fun (Southworth wasn't there) We toured the Belmont hotel. I gave a description of the tour on the guestbook several months ago. I drove down Lancaster rd last Friday. the crest theater has been torn down and they are building a Sav-a-lot store in it's place. Cedar Crest shopping center doesn't appear to be thriving but they are enlarging the square footage with the sav-a-lot. Toni did you get a picture of the Crest Theater on your tour of Oak Cliff?
Comments: SNL, what if we get the group to congregate up in the balcony and set all the phones to "vibrate" mode? ... for the popcorn, that is.
Comments: JS - That's a hoot!! Not sure it would work well in a movie though. The usher might throw you & your cell popper out!!
Comments: What movie did we decide to go see? By the way, here is a way we can save some money on popcorn and fry our brains at the same time: http://tinyurl.com/46frwo [sidebar: I hope this link works. I'm experimenting with a URL shortener]
Comments: SNL, Hughes was my homeroom teacher as well and I'm under the impression he did pass away some time ago. Alive, or not, he was a good guy...I remember liking him and his style.
Comments: Just in . . . The next SOC '66 & Friends Get-Together will be on June 13, 2009!! It will be our usual place, the Double Tree on Luna Rd 1 blk down the street from the Omni. I'll post an invite on our Events pg soon. This should give everyone plenty of time to make arrangements to be there & let the kids know Grandma & Grandpa can't baby sit on the 13th of June! ![]() Question - Does anyone have any info on our teacher/coach Harold Hughes? He taught history & was the baseball head coach. Someone sent me a note saying they "think" he passed away some time ago? But to effectively search I need at least a middle name/initial & anyhting else wd be helpful. If you have any additional info abt Mr. Hughes please let me know. Apparently we are the only SOC site that lists our teacher deaths so I have nothing tin which to compare notes! TNX for any info you may have!!
Comments: Sally, that Bishop Arts area you referred to is quite the deal...very impressive. The quality of the restaurants there is comp. to anything I'm aware of. We have two Brits at our company, though they're US citizens now. They speak quite highly of the medical care in the UK. One thing that struck me, is they both think that Thanksgiving is their favorite holiday...no other country they're aware of has a holiday to just be thankful. JD, you probably take this for granted, but I was with my grand kids this weekend at Big Bear Lake (a ski resort). It was their first experience with snow. Watching a 1 & 4 year old in waist deep white stuff builds quite the memory.
Comments: Bay Watch, only guys that hit from the red tees drive a F-150. Look behind you, my guys hit from the blacks and drive F-250's, 4 wheel drive with diesel engines.
Comments: bUTTERFINGERS-Looking for a 09 F-150 Texas Edition in drive today (red would be nice with double T on the back, Oh need the trailer package too. No sissy wheels here please). When I'm too old to fish and golf pull the plug time to go
Comments: Where is my lexus? where is my driveway? This article says the French despise "socialized medicine" . http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=92419273
Comments: Pool Guy - thanks for the Lexus. Good luck on the tour.
Comments: This morning I felt the need to blow my nose. I removed a tissue from a nearby box. Holding the fully utilized tissue over a waste basket, I opened my hand - observing gravity drawing the tissue in a downward direction through the circular rim of the aforementioned receptacle of waste.
Comments: J.D., our new President and his group believe that Health care should be controlled by our government. The model Daschel wants to follow is France and England. My daughter has a friend that lives in London. She has 2 toddler girls, and must schedule a apt. 6-8 weeks out. The service is free, the care poor, and most Doc's come from other countries. Private care Doc's are available, expensive and very busy. Daschel, who President Obama tried to apt. to his Cabinet, has written a book on the subject. He has made millions as a lobbyist to the health care industry. He proposes a government oversite committee to regulate costs, procedures, and who gets what treatment. If you are elderly, and the procedure will not insure quality of life, you will not receive it. I'm bringing this up, because if the Democrats are thinking this is how we should live our lives, I have a problem with this. Politics has become a touchy subject with this group. We as voters should discuss the issues, express our opinons, respect each other, and lookout for the well being of our children and grandchildren. These people are making decisions that will affect this country for many years to come. If you have taken the time to read this, there will be a new Lexus sedan parked on your driveway today. And I am joining the Senior Golf Tour next week. Have a great day..... Pool Guy
Comments: Sally there are many interesting places to see and eat at in Dallas. Are you planning a trip to Dallas? I will email you later this week, I've got to get to the hotel. It's going to be a late night. |
