Comments: Boy, You old guys sure seem to have alot of time on your hands !!! On-line chatting and golf all day ! Just kidding folks, I know you are all very busy! If you do ever get some free time on the second Thursday of each month, the '68 class started a get together at Chip's Hamburgers on Lovers Lane at the Dallas North Tollway in Dallas. It has since turned into a get together for all Oak Cliff Schools and all classes. We had SOC people from '62 to '73 last month and alot from Sunset, Adamson, Carter and Kimball. If you can, stop by sometime during the year. The more the merrier. Dennis Nance '68
Comments: So, SNL, how's that Wolfe working out for you?
Comments: For those of you living far away, here's another good site for seeing Oak Cliff. Go to www.oakcliff.com . You can ignore the ads! Scroll on down the pg to "Yester Cliff" & click there. It will let you see photos of the Bronco Bowl, Sivil's & The Mystics! Hey Sally, Barbara D & Virginia - - Ya'l all come to Dls to visit relatives, so why not arrange your next visit in June & arrange to be here at the Double Tree on Sat June 13th!! We would all love to see you!!! We get a great $79 rate for a room at the Double Tree. See the Events pg for details.
Comments: DWF-I think Pool Guy is still high on Boma from last nite. He is buying all green fees tomorrow. Something about spreading the wealth. He does a lot of talking to himself lately. I sometimes worry about him but a renewed confidence in him when he showed me the quickest way to double my money was to fold it over and put it back in my pocket. You gatta luv the way the boy thinks
Comments: Pool Guy - just in case you don't take the money from Budman, remember your President said last nite your check is in the mail. It should just about cover your green fee.
Comments: RW, assuming you're in Huntington Beach this Spring, let's make sure we connect this time. We're meeting the Litchford's in LA this weekend-plus, so we're always on the lookout for wayward Texans wandering the beaches and back streets of East LA. I expect to have another "spirited" political discussion with Carol Litchford...we'll see if we can get thrown out of a Beverly Hills bar (shouldn't be tough).
Comments: Richard Nance,,(the California Kid)Thank you for the b-day wish & the tip on the Foley Pinot Noir 2005,,I'll keep an eye out for it...Dear Linda P...I'll be sure that you get a copy of the video uncut..however Jay Hawk Hawkins will have to pay for a copy$$$$$$$$$$..
Comments: Sandy McGee -- It will be good if the stock market ONLY falls 2 points tomorrow.
Comments: linda...thanks for the tips...iwill try them all sometime this year. i will make a brief stop in dallas on my way to san antonio for spring break...but i will be back for thr rangers opening day. anyway, i still love OC. i just saw Oak Cliff t-shirts online...the one with a body being stuffed in the trunk...with the caption"Welcome to Oak Cliff"...don't mess with OC
Comments: I would appreciate that Sandy Joe. Would be good to confirm yes or no if that is our Coach Hughes. Thanks for any info you can obtain from your friend!
Comments: SNL, I think that is Coach Hughes. He was the baseball coach at Skyline when I was at John B. Hood. My catcher, Tony Tovar is Principal at Sunset High School. I'll call him and find out the scoop. The Market will fall 2 pts tomorrow as I take money from Wilmer Capps on Riverside Golf Course.
Comments: I need your help! I'm trying to confirm the death of our SOC baseball coach, Harold Lee Hughes. The only thing I could find was a Harold Lee Hughes 7-20-22 to 8-19-86. That would have made him abt 42 in the Fall of 1964. I have no other info abt coach Hughes, so I'm hesitant to assume it is him. anyone know any addl info abt him?
Comments: Bovie -- You're right about SOCers not being cheap. Take a video. Virginia -- We drive through Oak Cliff often. Just go eat at Cafe Brazil in the Bishop Arts District or Bolsa, or Hatties, or Vera Cruz, then go riding around in Kessler Park and/or Stevens Park. You'd be pleasantly surprised. There are still beautiful, now older homes over there. It's been kept nice.
Comments: I too enjoyed the Oak Cliff website...I had an aunt who lived in Stevens Park..so that was interesting to me. Isn't funny how you never get over Oak Cliff? vm
Comments: Susan, Thank you for that website. There were neighborhoods that I dream about but never knew where they were- Now I know --Beckley Club Estates, Wynnewood North. I made my sisters drive around those neighborhoods with me a few years ago but never really found what I thought was there. Now know- thanks! |
