Go to the Update Your Info pg here on the site or send to me direct. I too loved A Harris shopping Center. Louis Langford and I used t go there on Sat nights for their dance contests! We would practice several hours at my house on Sat before one of our parents took us up there. This was back in elementary sch in 5th & 6th grade, Louis and I used t go-steady back then! He gave me a ring on Christmas and I used to wear it around my neck. I still have that ring in my jewelery box!! No kidding! Now that's a great memory!! Another wonderful memory is making homemade ice cream. The kind you make from scratch and cook on the stove. After it cooled you poured it into the freezer container and added the ice and rock salt around it & cranked! When it froze you took out the blade, put the top back on & then cover it with a quilt until after supper. Some of the best ice cream I ever ate was homemade in our back yard!!
Comments: Sandy, I really enjoyed reading your list and even more than that the one in my head as I thought about what i remembered most. So here goes.... 1. Long evening walks with my granny and my friends. Never occured to us to be frightened and we were walking in our baby doll pj's. Not my granny though. 2. Friday night dances at the Beckley/Sanger gym. 3. Going to the Crest and never really seeing the movie because we were all cutting up to much. 4. Being a Boude Storey Eaglette and strutting my stuff for my school. 5. A greasy hamburger from the freezette. 6. A bunch of us kids decorating our car with tons of crepe paper getting ready for the big game. And they were all big remember. 7. Learning to drive in A Harris shopping center parking lot. 8. Fair day and riding the bus with all my friends and having the time of our life. 9. Tuesdays at Daughtery's Pharmacy when the new Teen Magazine came out. 10. Shopping for new school clothes at all the stores on Jefferson. Just to let you wonderful people know that everything i did with all my friends is a wonderful memory but the brain is getting older and can not remember like it should...all of you have a great day

Comments: SNL Well, I took you're advise and ripped one. The ladies around me are throwing things over my cube wall at me. MC Gee, not being the athlete like most of you guys, I never suffered from Jock Itch. At Zumwalt, I didn't have a clue what they were for so I put it on and used it as a flag poll to carry during band practice. Shoot Ronney, I could have used the Valium. Sarah and I went back to University Park at 4:00 yesterday to babysit Casey and Kathryn until 8:30. We went to sleep last night at 11:00 or was it 10:00? Alarm went off at 5:30 or was it 4:30? I'll be glad when this time change is over. I was late for work today, so I'm leaving early to make up for it.

Comments: I tried to keep it at 10 but by doing so I realized I left out "cruisin' Kiest Park on Sundays". That was a big part of my life! I also left off Fri morning SOC Hops both at Zumwalt & SOC. One of my very best favorites!!! So go ahead, don't contain yourself to 10 .. . let it rip!!!! This master list ought to bring us plenty of memories & fun at the June get-together!!! So post your list & I can cut n paste it into Word for translation. Hey, look at the EVENTS pg. Do you know the answer???? 
Comments: SNL, sorry that I haven't taken the time to compile a top ten list of the good ole days. I've just been too busy and, hence, a little brain dead. I really did enjoy reading yours and Ms. SandyMC's list and I hope others will do the same as it is fun to remember. JD, I was gonna vote for Sam Moon's Imports as the store to spend in and therefore save but I guess that really isn't an American company. I guess you will be wanting to keep the Tinactin company in business because of your "condition". 
Comments: Jack/JD, did you know that at 5:00 AM, a tube of anti-itch cream looks identical to a tube of toothpaste. Let me just say the taste is a dead give away as to which one you've spread on your toothbrush(true incident); the good news is, your teeth won't itch at all.
Comments: Well, I guess when you live where it is too cold to go outside this time of year, you sit around and come up with ideas on how to spend money. MAYBE we, as a group, should back a cause to help out. Maybe if we all pulled together we could save one store. Now all we need to do is decide which one. I don't think we should include any of the "all in one" or "big box" stores, as we need to spread around our spending to keep as many choices as we can. OK, let's hear it chums. What department store shall we support?? Pool Guy, is that why you jocks all wore stocking caps??

Comments: FYI! Did you know Jock itch is actually the same thing as Ringworm. It's true. Courtney had a ringworm about a month ago and that's what the doctor told her. I didn't know that, and if you didn't, you do now!

I've discovered another use for my tax money...I'm going to purchase a years subscription of the WSJ for President Hussein...then he can really read about the polling on the stock market!!!
Comments: Cheezehead, I found a place for you to spend your Govt. rebate from our clueless President. I saw a billboard on Preston Rd. at the George Bush Turnpike today. Someone is doing a research project on jock itch. If you call the phone number, and qualify, you could receive supplies and get paid for your time. If you have interest, I'll drive by, get you the number, and order you a "small size" kit. |
