Place: LV, TX Comments: Our temp dropped to 7 degrees overnight, lost power between 3:30-9:45 this a.m., and we have 4-6" of snow - all local records since the 60's.

Place: Edmond Comments: The University of Siberia just offered reduced rates for the Spring semester. The only catch is if it never turns to Spring you pay full tuition.
Place: Frozen in Richardson Comments: Dang it . . . we Texans didn't sign up for Alaska weather!! This cold has gone all the way down to Houston & Galveston. Our dtr in Dripping Springs, it's sw of Austin, has same thing there. single digit temps and more snow than we have. I'm so worried they may loose all their trees. Her husband owns his own tree company and they have hundreds of trees ready to go out in huge planters there on their land, they live in the country. This cold could kill the trees by freezing the root balls. If it kills all his trees that will be a huge financial loss! One of our upstairs sink pipes is frozen this morning despite leaving cabinet doors open & heat on upstairs all this time. Just hoping it will slowly thaw and we won't have water running everywhere. How's everyone else doing, besides Paul, who is in Siberia!? I know many of you are experiencing rolling blackouts. So far, not here yet. This arctic cold is going to cause so much damage to all of us in TX and OK. Looks like 2021 is taking it's cue from 2020.

Place: Frozen White Tundra/aka Richardson Comments: Paul - I hadn't either until I was browsing Total Wine (I love that liquor store) and was looking for Bailey's Coffee liquor. All sold out but for one bottle of Bailey's Chocolate Cherry. What the heck, I bought it. Place: Still very cold in Richardson, TX Comments: Thanks Jack, this is the coldest Feb 14 I can ever remember! The snow has definitely picked up and larger flakes. It's coming! I can hardly wait to get up in the morning!!! Paul, If you like a little kick to your coffee, pour a little, or a lot, of Bailey's Chocolate Cherry in it. I don't usually care that much for Bailey's but, when I saw the Chocolate Cherry . . . I bought it. I love chocolate covered cherries candy and this is soooo good in my coffee!!!!

H a p p y 36th A n n i v e r s a r y to Sandy Norman Lynn & Don Broughton, who ‘tied the knot’ on this date, Feb. 14th, at Wynn Chapel of Highland Park Church, Dallas, TX, in 1985! Sandy & Don - Hope you two have a wonderful anniversary celebration and best wishes for many more!
Place: Fropzen in Richardson Comments: Thanks Paul. I just looked at our NBC weather app and I can hardly believe the forecast. It says going into tonight and early tomorrow morning the low is gonna drop down to 6 at 7am in the morning. Holly Cow, that's too cold for Dallas!! Paul, you have my empathy! I can't imagine all that snow coming in and zero degrees with a wind chill of minus anything!!! Hope no one is on the roads and thank goodness we have a holiday tomorrow. Maybe that will keep a bunch of people off the roads.

Place: Frozen Richardson Comments: Woke to the sidewalks & streets white. thin layer of ice last night with a thin layer of snow. 20 degrees and dropping plus now it's snowing. Weatherman says we may get 4 to 8 inches in and around DFW. I trucked out this morning to feed my birds & pick up paper at curb. Tiger is entranced by all the birds flying around in our yard and trees. Haven't seen a single car or dog walker this morning. Happy Valentine's Day and, yes, today is 36 years for Don & me. Hard to believe we've been married that long. At least 36 yrs ago it wasn't snowing, it was a pretty Feb day. Didn't even need a coat.
Place: Kerrville Comments: It is supposed to be 3 degrees here Monday night. At least it let up long enough for us to go get our shot. It is a mess around here! Two of our main highways to Fredericksburg were closed for awhile today. Thanks to my great friends that sent Valentines. They were much appreciated. That was a really great idea Sandy. Being this far away from everyone it helps opening the mail and hearing from friends. |
