Comments: Bobby Bradford: Contratulations on finding out you are having another grandchild. That's cool. To the two Karens: I know how to find out which is the good Karen and which is the Bad Karen. At the next get-together, we will remove a little of your makeup and see who has the GREEN skin. We might want to check your mode of transportation, also. Are either of you afraid of water?
Comments: Karen, let me join with the other well-wishers today in saying Happy Birthday. I hope you got one of those birthday cakes with yellow cake and chocolate frosting. And that you saved me a big slice. And froze it. For later shipping. Soon.

Comments: H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Karen Reynolds 'Shortcake' Louton, today! Hey, ‘Shortcake’ – Hope Bobby will be wining & dining you today, as well as delivering nice gifts. As I’m writing this, I haven’t looked at the g/b, but guess you’ll be at the lake trying to stay cool this weekend – that’ll be a real task. Hope you have a great one!
Comments: What a fantastic hike! Tent Rocks is like nothing compared to your trip. I would have been totally wiped out also!
Comments: Kathy, my hiking days ended in May 1995 when my classmate Charlie Howarth talked me into hiking to the bottom of the Grand Canyon to celebrate our turning 50. We took a steep 7 mile trail down to the Colorado River. Even going downhill, it nearly did me in. The next day we took a 9 mile trail up out of the canyon. It took me 13 hours and the steepest part was the last two miles. My legs were like spaghetti at the end of the day. Most of the dialog went like this every 15 minutes: JS: Are we there yet? Charlie: No. JS: Are we half way there? Charlie: Shut up! Here's a pic of me on the South Rim at sunrise; before desperatation and panic set in: http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/gc_sunrise.jpg
Comments: John, That's what the problem is. I think I'm still 40ish!!!! If you ever make it to Tent Rocks, at least attempt the hike to the summit. It gives you a 360 view and is absolutely beautiful.
Comments: Well, we're waiting for a report from some of you fashionistas about the new movie Bruno that hit the big screen yesterday. I hear it's rated "F" for Fabulous. Bruno claims he will soon be as well known as our American astronaut hero, Louis Armstrong. |
