Comments: Let's see, I got married in Oct., 68 and moved to Okinawa for 2 1/2 years - gosh what memories that brings back! Not actually in the military but might as well have been for some of the stuff we went through over there!
Comments: The summer of 66 I worked with David Sturges (65) for Southern Trust and Mortgage, "inspecting" the area houses that they mortgaged. During that time David talked me into attending UT Austin and being his roommate instead of going to Arlington State. Since I had a "mentor" to show me the ropes of UT, I, my parents and the school decided that It was not necessary for me to attend freshman orientation scheduled for August. Fate decided that I would not be on campus on the day that there was a sniper in the tower. I still have never been to the top of the tower.
Comments: JS - Tnx for the interesting article about the Sorenson family! I knew Faith frm Zumwalt thru SOC but never knew abt the trip to Nigeria. Great read! Summer of '66 - I loafed around for Jun & Jul & then my Mom said if I wasn't going to go to college I needed ot get my butt out there & get a job! She took me down to main ofc of SW Bell & I filled out an application. Started to work in the Bus Ofc 2 days later. Worked for SWB & AT&T for 19yrs! Got married ( 1st time) in Aug '67.
Comments: JS - David Hamm & I headed off to CG boot camp on Gov't Island in scenic Alameda, CA. Might as well have been Alcatraz - we probably would've met nicer people in Nigeria.
Comments: Where were YOU in the summer of 1966? Slacking off at Freezette? Packing for college? Rushing into marriage? Headed for boot camp? Well, if your name was Faith Sorenson you were helping the family pack up for a long visit to Nigeria. Faith has a sister (Tally) in the Class of '63 and 5 other younger siblings. That summer their Dad made the decision to move the entire family overseas. Their story is explained in the following article (go to the link then click to enlarge). Pretty gutsy move. http://people.consolidated.net/swsw/1966-0708-sorenson.gif
Comments: The only HOT DOG that needs a warning label is the Barney Frank !
Comments: Exuse me, what are you doing with Glynda!? (that weekend) Get back in that doghouse.
Comments: Sure SNL, I'll believe that when Nance shows up with a head of hair, Pool Guy stops dressing funny or Botox Boy looks his age. Sandy Mc, I wouldn't know how to act if I wasn't in somebody's doghouse. Susan, I assure you IF I was going to crash one of the girls events, I WOULDN'T bring my Mother. She knows too many embarrassing stories about me. (and likes to tell them). Barb, tell Don to come in that weekend, we'll find something to do while you're out with the girls!
