Comments: Now Toni - You know better than to ref to something Richard said if it's more than 2 posts ago! His mind is clean slate, kinda like the outside of his mind!
Comments: Toni, what could I possibly have said in recent postings that anyone on this GB would agree with? (is that funny, SNL?)
Comments: I remember Barney....had strikingly dark hair as I recall....and whose girls' knees didn't quiver when Doug Hutt walked by?? Prayers go up for these SOCites and their families. I agree with you, Richard!
Comments: Don, you made a good point & I know it seems kinda awkward to post something happy or silly after a serious post. BUT, PLEASE, do NOT feel guilty abt remembering B-days, Anniversaries or good things!! Please continue to do so every day! This GB was established in order to reconnect classmates & allow the flow of info. Sometimes that info is not very good and is sad and heart-breaking. But I personally feel we owe it to each other to post info, good or bad, abt our friends & other SOCites. If we don't. . . I believe it wd be negligence on our part. This should not be a "woe is me" site, but a place you can go to share your good fortune & happy events, ask for help or prayers in bad times & to be a little silly so we can all laugh with you! This is my persoanl opinion & I'd like to hear from YOU, the GB Gang, regarding what YOU want out of this GB. As for my friend Barney (aka Sonny) Kemp, he's a trueblue SOCite & the biggest Cowboys fan ever! He turned the rm above his garage into a Dallas Cowboys memorbilia rm! You wd not believe the thousands of pieces of Cowboys themed items he has up there. I was fortunate enough to get a tour of the rm & I was in awe! He has things I'd never seen & lots of things gng bk to the 60s. Even has a life-size Cowboys Cheerleader cut-out! But as many of you can relate, after battling cancer for over 6 yrs the mediacal bills have mounted. Even with ins there are deductables & copays plus things that aren't covered at all. He wants to make his funeral arrangements so it will be done & Brenda won't have to worry how to pay for it when he goes. But he has no life ins & no money. Just wanted you to know what the mnoney is for . . . the funeral home & services. If you want to help the ck shd be made out to "Barney Lee Kemp Fund" & you can send it to: Gary Leverett 2055 Flowing wells Rd, Potsboro, TX 75076. Gary & Sonny hve bn friends since before 1st grade. Excuse the length of this post, just needed to clarify a few things. Now plse, someone say something funny!! Life goes on . . .
Comments: Happy Birthday Rodger!! It would be great to see you at the mini. Somebody would probably buy you a drink. Don, everybody understands that's how life is. Ups and downs, happy and sad. Too much of it happens at the same time Yes, Richard, that is cynical.
Comments: I hate to follow bad news regarding any of our SOC folks with a seemingly festive & inconsiderate birthday greeting. I assure you, nothing was lost in the posts preceding this one. I had to look-up Doug Hutt, but remember his face & had some sort of interaction with him - can't recall the details. I didn't know Barney Kemp. But, I'll certainly include both in my prayers & try to help out in response to Tanya's post.
Comments: BELATED H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Roger Polson, for yesterday, 9/22! Very sorry, Roger, if you’re lurking out there. Why not slide out of that DJ job & check-in with us sometime? Better yet, c’mon up & see us Sat., 10/3, for our next mini - best wishes!
Comments: Kathy Orr - Thank you for the update on Doug Hutt. I was hoping someone close to the family wd post something so I wouldn't have to call Diane. Doug & Diane Hutt along with Carolynn Edgar & Wilbur Wilhite & I all went to St Paul Lutheran church all through sch. Doug spent several months last yr at MD Anderson in Hstn. The treatment was very aggressive as his cancer is very aggressive! The treatments have taken a toll on his body & the pneumonia is bad. His body can't fight it off & so far antibiotics aren't working. Prayers indeed are needed for Doug & the Hutt family. While ya'll are sending prayers for Doug & family, would you please send a prayer for my friend Barney (Sonny) Kemp frm '63! He is a wonderful SOCite & has bn battling cancer for 6 yrs. He is courageous & a real fighter, but we've now been told he is losing the battle. He too caught pneumonia but his body is too weak to get rid of it. He is now back home & on Hospice. It's very difficult watching your friends leave this world, it makes you realize how precious each day is & how grateful we should be for the life God gave us!
Comments: KOA (is that Kathy Orr?)...thanks for that update and I'm glad it's not as dire as I envisioned. And he nearly died from the treatment?....now that is weird.
Comments: This is an update on Doug Hutt. My sister just went by to visit with him yesterday. He is now sitting up and trying to walk a little. Yes, he has been battling cancer over a year, however, they say it is in remission. The problem is he has pneumonia and none of the antibiotics are working. They gave him some kind of test and it nearly killed him. That's why the family was called in. He certainly isn't out of the woods, but at least he has made some improvement. He will be in ICU until Sunday and we just don't know what to expect until then. The urgent need is an antibiotic or something to get rid of the pneumonia. I will keep you all updated as I hear more. Prayers will be appreciated by he and his family.
Comments: Thanks Richard, Doug is a good guy. I hate to hear the bad news. We lifegaurded together as kids and later him, Mick O'Riley and I shared an appt. in N Dallas. Doug was a lot of fun to be around. Prayers needed for this great guy and his family
Comments: Buddy, he is apparently in ICU having fought cancer for over a year. They've called in his family from around the country....doesn't sound good.
Comments: Jack what happen to Doug ?
Comments: Jack, you know it's strange hearing about death-beds, illness, etc. about a "kid" you haven't seen since they were 17 years old. That's the last memory you have of them and it somehow seems more tragic...I don't know why. But, this whole cancer, diabetes thing seems to have quite the grip on our generation...maybe they always did and I just didn't notice so much. You have to wonder why the medical field has been unable to cure anything since polio...in the 50's. I suppose they figured out they haven't made any money on polio and won't make the same mistake on other diseases. Is that cynical?
Comments: Toni, you beat me to the punch. I was thinking the same thing. OH, BTW, our ringer can't join us Sunday, she has to be at work at noon. Should we tell or leave it up to her who she is?? Richard, saw your post on the 65 site. I didn't know you went to their prom too. Sorry to hear about Doug Hutt. He was a nice guy. |
