RN...My dear friend RN...please...I don't believe that there is a Civics lesson I need to have dictated to me.

However, living next door to Chicago...it is incumbent on me to provide you with a lesson in Civics --- CHICAGO STYLE.

Every bill that has been brought to the forefront this first year of the Obama administration...has been initiated by none other than twinkle toes Rahm Emanuel - WH Chief of Staff...and former congressman from Illinois. And if he is generating the direction, you can bet he is getting his direction from Mr. Obama himself.

All of these programs from Health Care, Climate Change, the Financial Bailouts (under Obama), Gun Control, have come from the campaign. It is the way things are done in Chicago...force fed from the Mayor himself to the city council and state legislature with all kinds of promises to those who go along and threats to those who don't.

Please, look at Reid and Pelosi...do you really think these two have the intellectual capacity to develop these ideas from their own feeble brains? Not on your life!

Just as every President before him, some more than others, many bills are started and directed from the WH...and the only real separation of powers is when the three parts of government are not controlled by the same party...plus the fact that they sit in different buildings.

And please, it is becoming extremely clear that you are either extremely naive and or not politically savvy or connected as some of us are.

I personally sit on a district congressional committee for my congressman and have held the seat for 20 years...through both Democrat and Republican congressmen. They all will tell you the same thing. In many, not all, but many cases everything is generated from the WH...and especially in this case due to his campaign itinerary and promises.

Open your eyes Richard...I know you can see...you have a wonderful and might I say a beautiful wife and you are one of the most impressive dressers in our class...next to Botox Browning of course....but it is extremely obvious that you have great eyesight!

Don L-I started my love affair with Shotguns in the back woods of Louisiana hunting deer, slug followed by buck-shoot, very deadly. Now that AA12 looks like a doe day dream. Knock down a hole herd of Bambies and all the trees behind them !!! bad to the bone

A true story- May have been a potential break in I don't really know. Late one evening I heard some noise in the front, Geo loudly said "get ur gun Buddy." As I arrived at the front cocking the pump on the 12 (the sound is assum), I saw no faces just elbows and ...holes at high speed.

Now everyone knows Cold Cash Dagley is talented. But being a man of men he hunts deer with a rope. Yes Sir with a rope!

SNL - No need to mess around with a 'sweet 16' when you can cut to the chase with an Auto-Assault 12-ga. (AA-12) - versatility & rapid firepower: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4ebtj1jR7c

Linda - If you have an old western 'gun slinger' Colt, I'll gladly trade you a Model 1911 Colt 45 semi-automatic pistol, similar to this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M1911_pistol

I got this one several yrs ago in an estate sale from one of Kathy's deceased uncles, plus a Smith & Wesson 357 Magnum revolver.  I bought Kathy a 'Lady Smith' (also S&W) last Xmas - shoots 38 special or 357 magnum.

RN/JS - Doing our part to help out the S&W market.

Now I know why you have become so well behaved Dale!

Actually, I like to shoot guns.  When I was pre-teen & early teens my Dad wd let me shoot his 22 when we visited our friends in Lancaster.  That's before they're farm was incorporated into the city limits.  Dad & his friend wd drink beer & when they had enough cans they'd stack 'em up & let me shoot them.  I don't like to kill things . . .  I prefer cans.  I'm sure Jack & JD are shuddering at their keyboard thinking abt SNL with a 22 or the sweet 16 offered by Buddy!!

Yuvonne shoots a Winchester 270 deer rifle with a 3x-9x variable Leupold scope, a 20 gauge Remington model 1100 vent rib shotgun and carries a 2-shot Derringer in her purse.(loaded- cause an unloaded gun is just a club!)
I'm almost always on my best behavior.

Linda, sounds like you may have a collectors piece there. Is it the old single action "Peacemaker" model or the newer double action? The older (first production was about 1873) Peacemakers go for between $1550 and $2500 right now. The double actions are generally about $500 to $700. As with most things, condition plays a big part. Cal 41 is an odd bird now days and I imagine ammo is a little hard to come by. Depending on your purposes, you might consider moving to a more modern caliber. Lots of great debates on the pros and cons of each.
Richard, I just knew you'd figure it out!!!

You guys have an opinion on a Colt 41?  Otherwise, you're far too advanced in weaponery.  Most of what you talk about, I've never heard of.

I looked at HR 45...seems fairly intrusive. But, what does it have to do with Obama. Here's how it works JD...there's a separation of powers in the country...you know (judicial, congress, executive branch).  The "HR" stand for House of Representatives (Congress).  This was a bill introduced by a congressman (one that I doubt will get very far in its present form) on Jan.6 of this year...hasn't gone to Obama..he has nothing to do with it. In fact, Bush was the President when it was introduced...blame him.  You're going wild again my friend.

By the by, I was only kidding when I said we should start a gun control debate.  This group is too well armed for me to take on.

Jack - The Springfield Armory XD has been a popular semi-automatic for several years.  Kathy has a 9mm sub-compact & I have a 40cal. tactical.  I wish we had waited for the XD-M, but didn't know they were coming when we bought ours.  However, we're still both very pleased with our purchases.  Greg came home from Iraq & liked shooting ours so much at the range that he also bought 2 XD's, a 40 sub & a 45 svc model.

I was watching a Nova program on PBS this evening & noticed Frontline was coming up afterward with something about 'The Warning' & the financial meltdown that has wreaked havoc across our nation for the last year or so.

This spans at least 3 Whitehouse administrations, predates Enron & is undoubtedly another tip of an iceberg involving the relationships between big business, lobbyists, regulators & politicians.  If true, it pretty much explains why financial thievery has flourished for the last 20 yrs or so in the stock market.

If you have 55 min. to spare, click on the link for 'Watch The Full Program Online'.  Not only are these people not in jail, some are still in powerful positions.

Only one news outlet today that ask questions of this administration besides "what did you have for breakfast Mr President". Maybe that is why they are watched more than 2 to 1 by all news outlets combine. If the White House would respond with answers their rating would fade away. Or even a law suit on false statements. If Freedom of Speech is taken away we need General Washington back in the saddle.
