Comments: Well, well, well...what has happened to the GB...did Obama threaten to take away your money by taxing you to death. Oh, I'm sorry we knew he has with OBAMACARE... I promise I won't go into my political attack mode as I have finally determined when I will be retiring from my current position. The date is one of two. 1. February 15, 2011 2. February 28, 2011 I have been developing a matrix that would provide me with enough data to make a strong, educated, informed decision that I could sell to myself as well as my wife. I have been developing the process since last September when we celebrated our 40th anniversary. The last piece of the puzzle came into play just the other day...and I must say that it came from a very unexpected participant...yes Jack...you guessed it...Bovie has decided to adopt both me and Kathy so he would have enough dependents to write off on his taxes for the next 15 years or so... Since I thought that was so generous of him I agreed. The only catch was that he advised me I can never come to his house again...I thought about that a minute but accepted the offer because it came with tumble weeds and a cloud of dust that would run across my yard every other day. Everyone should go through this process as it is really an excellent method with coming to grips with every problem you have ever had and determining how to over come all the objections from classmates when Kathy and I come to visit asking if we can stay for a week...over the next 15 years. So, I hope my best friend Sally Taylor will be kind to kick off our national tour next February in NY. Then I go to visit Ada Ann. Then Phil Wilkerson...if he is still in New Jersey. See all of you soon...!!!

Comments: Happy Jack- After being away from the Dallas metro for about 25 years, and driving experience in less traffic arenas, then moving back to the metro in the mid 90's, I found it helpful for life and limb when at a red light that turns green LOOK both ways then proceed. ***driving tip of the day***
Comments: While I think it is a good law, IMHO, the 20MPH reduction is a little too much. I know about the law and when I have been unable to move over one lane I worry about the guy behind me not slowing down. We all know how much people don't like to be inconvenienced by having to slow down, so when you slow down for any reason, often, you get a tailgater. Sometimes they are not aware of what's going on because they are busy talking on the phone or shaving or applying makeup or any of many different things people do instead of DRIVING while behind the wheel of the car. People around here are terrible drivers. Way too many don't drive the car, they just point it. Many seem to think driving is secondary to whatever else they "need" to do in the car. Another thing that we have lost from our past. Good drivers who drove friendly!
Comments: They passed a similar law here in Oregon but only require us to slow down by 5 mph if we can't move over. Not sure of the reason, maybe we're better drivers, our emergency personnel are better at getting out of the way, or Texans have better aim and you get more of them that we do. I'm surprised because our wonderful lawmakers usually are the ones to go way overboard and over react.
Comments: Rick - I knew about that "move over a lane or slow dwn by 20mph" law but didn't realize it had bn in effect since 03! I knew Margaret Ann Burgin well as she & her family lived behind us & dwn 3 houses. Her mom & mine used to car pool all us kids to Lisbon. It worked fine until Jr High & Margaret went the way of Band & I chose drill team. But she had at least 2 & maybe 3 sisters. The one a few yrs younger was Vicki Lynn, she was closer to my bro age. Mrs Burgin was from Australia & she had an Aussie accent that wdn't quit!! I cd never understand what she sd to me?? One day as she let me & my bro out of the car she told me they were having a birthday "Potty" for Margaret & I was invited. I had no idea what she said & told my Mom it was something for Margaret but I didn't know what or when. Mom got where she cd decipher most everything Mrs Burgin sd. Mom cld & then told me I was invited to a B-day Party at their hse on Sat.!!!!
Comments: I hope everyone is aware of this "move over law" in Texas. If not please read this. This knowledge could save you $200. http://www.snopes.com/politics/traffic/moveover.asp
