This is from an article on the subject...just so we know.

"When the cards are used without a PIN, it is called an "off-line" transaction. A thief who has a copy of a debit card restaurant receipt can drain your checking account, even if your card itself or PIN hasn't been stolen. Worse, under the law, your liability is higher for debit card fraud than for credit card fraud, although VISA and Mastercard have announced that their issuing banks are voluntarily reducing liability, due to pressure from PIRG and other consumer advocates. Worse, regardless of your ultimate liability, with ATM debit card fraud, the thief has your money, from your checking account, and you still have to fight to get it back from the bank.
(1) YOUR LIABILITY IS GREATER THAN WITH A CREDIT CARD: The law limits consumer liability for credit card fraud to $50. For debit card fraud, your liability is $50 if you notify the bank with 2 days of learning of the fraud, and $500 or more after two days, up to the entire amount stolen under certain circumstances."

Toni, that's just a real nightmare for you.  It's after the fact, but just so you know, debit cards have gotten lots of criticism for just this reason.  I've never had one, and always encourage Mary Ann to not use hers...just the "credit" card piece of it. It's easier for banks to reverse a "credit" charge than to get cash back.  Just my thoughts on the matter.

About that rat snake....we get them all the time and they're large enough to really get your attention (2-3 feet).  However, the alternative is........rats.  So, I leave them alone as the snake is harmless and the rats are, less harmless.

Holly Crap indeed Toni!!!  How did someone get your debit card #??  Was it thru FB?  Good grief what a nightmare.  I can only imagine the "dance" at the bank!!   I do hope ya'll get it fixed quickly.  Oh, as of this morning you & Bruce are still shown on FB.

Good thing Bruce got his birthday present early or he might have missed out with all of that going on.  Glad things turned out alright for you, Toni!

HOLY S&%#!!!!  For those of you who go on Facebook, you noticed yesterday that I announced my departure from Facebook.  It seems thta FB notified us that an attempt to compromise Bruce's account had been made from somewhere in Canada!  We were assured that FB was doing everything they could do to assure security but they wanted us to know.  Okay, we get it THEN the other shoe dropped!  It seems that some ass^&%$ in Canada got my debit card # and cleaned out our bank accounts!!!!   Needless to say, I was on the phone with the bank and at the bank all day yesterday.  It seems that this process of getting our money back may take as long as 90 days.  Oh, happy day!  It goes without saying that Bruce and I are not happy campers right now.  Thanks for the birthday wishes for Bruce.  I'll be sure to tell him!  As luck would have it, yesterday while I'm pulling my hair out and doing a dance on my banker's desk, Bruce managed to find a golf course in Kansas to try out his new Golf Logix toy!  Isn't is strange to see a man walking all over a golf course WITHOUT golf clubs?

Jack, Bruce will be available on Saturday morning!  Brayden's games are at 4 and 6 p.m.

Shortcake, are you keeping up with Ronney lately??  I haven't heard from him lately but I received a surprise package and so did you!  Just a thought!

Happy Birthday, Bruce!!
Glad you finally realized your error and found your way back, Sam. We wondered when you had wandered off to.
Shortcake, rat snakes are GOOD snakes! They eat rats and other bad things. Ronney may have dropped it off at your house thinking you would call Toni over to help you with it. We know how you two share everything!!!

That's quite a story Shortcake, glad you found the source of the problem.  At first I thought it was Jack sneaking over & moving things around, but usually it's the beer that's missing!!

Hey Bruce - -  Happy B-day you young looking rascal!!!!  Are you celebrating at the golf course with your new toy??  Hope you get 18 in & have a good day!!!

Sam, why didn't you tell us you switched classes.  We wondered what happened to you!

It was a 3 ft. Rat snake - but it might as well have been a 10 ft cobra as far as I am concerned.  The only good snake is a dead one if it is around me.......

Ok so I thought that somewhere outside the rv an animal had died because I kept smelling something and then in the middle of the night last night I heard a noise!!!  Thought the storm had moved in.  When I got up this moving and had gotten dressed and ready to go noticed that the lamp and pictures had been knocked off the table...immediately called Bobby-he thought we had a mouse, rat or something & told me to get some of those sticky thing & leave them out- so I did. Came by about 3 and they were GONE.  One of the neighors went in with me (I am chicken) we found a rat snake under to dash....bet you guys did not know how fast I can exit a bldg.  Called 911 & they had animal control remove it.  Thanks goodness!  That much excitement I can do without.

Happy Jack, here is one for you. I know "Plaid is Bad" Fingers likes it. It motivates him to put his apron on and cook for the boys. But then again Butterfinger is a Martha kinda guy.

Yes Toni, we have Sirius in the Sebring. I listen when I use the car, although Cousin Brucey gets on my nerves. I have a radio in the window at work and listen to something all day. I wish they made a portable radio with buttons. Trying to find stations by turning the knob is not easy. Those indicators on the dial are never right. The string slips and they get off position. Oh Well!
