Ronney it's tough to lose a longtime pet as they become part of our family.  I had a kitty for just over 20 yrs & when we had to have her put to sleep it really was hard for Don & I.  That was in 2001 & we still laugh abt the funny things she used to do & remember her fondly.  My heartfelt condolences on the loss of Toonces.

Thanks, Susan. I am doing so much better today. Got Toonces buried last night. I can see his little grave from my bedroom window. I put a large (really LARGE) flower pot on top of the grave because our little miniature weenie dog likes to dig them up. The little stinker. Yesterday was very difficult. But, today is a new day and I feel great. I miss Toonces, but I realize that this is a part of life. He is still alive in my heart.
You are such a good friend, Susan. I really appreciate you.

Ronney, I'm so sorry to hear about Toonces.  Sounds like he was your buddy.  I've been through this quite a few times myself and it hurts so much.  I wish I could think of something to ease the pain.  Much love to you and your family.

By the way Linda, neither the rat nor I considered this a laughing matter at the time.

Sad news today. I had to have our 14 1/2-year-old blind cat put down today. The vet took one look at him and gasped, saying, "Oh my gosh. It is definitely time to end his suffering." Needless to say, I was an emotional wreck. That male cat has been my "shadow" for so many years. My daughter and I are going to pick up his body when she gets home from work. Then, some friends are coming over to help us bury him. We will end this evening on a good note having a cookout with our friends and swimming in our pool in Toonces' memory. I had so many happy years with that cat. But, I will miss that little "old man" for a LONG time. One good thing, though: NOW I can get that DAMNED litter box out of our master bathroom. haha!

Richard -- I was needing a good laugh today and you gave it to me; thank you.  My question - do you scream like a girl?

No cats...but, I could use that rat snake somebody talked about a couple of weeks ago.

Richard, I suggest getting a cat to be your "mouser" so you won't have hawks dive-bombing your house or you. The next time you hear a loud noise, however, have Mary Ann follow you with a camcorder and you might get rich when you send it in to America's Funniest Videos.

Alvin, it's good to see you post. Let us hear from you more often.

Sad to hear of Jeannette Schafer Austin's sister passing away. It's been forever since I've seen Jeannette. Sure would be great to see her at a mini.

Richard - That is too weird & just plain funny!!     It's funnier than the lizard story!!!

Several of you have asked me for Mike Dunn's new address in CA as you wanted to send him a card.  He & his family moved to CA bk in Dec - job related move.  But he hasn't given me his add yet, sorry!  I can give you his em address if you'd like to send a persoanl greeting & well wishes via em.  He of course is currently on disabililty due to his health problems.  They put 5 stints in, but still can't get his BP down & don't know why.  He could use some cheering up & encouragement.  Send me an em with the Subject title "Mike" & I'll reply with his em add.  Keep those prayers coming as he could sure use them!!!

Jack, I have a true story for you. I'm working in my home office when "BAM"...a loud crash against my garage door.  I go outside and spot a lot of feathers everywhere. I round the hedges just as a huge bird takes off over me and I'm hit hard in the forehead.  I turn, and at eye level watch a red tailed hawk streaking away with a full grown rat in his claws.  Then I can tell there's blood on my forehead...I'm freaking now.  I go in to check the damage and it's not my blood...it's the rat's.  If you have never submerged your entire head in equal parts water, Lysol and Clorox and screamed uncontrollably...you just haven't experienced life my friends.  Mary Ann won't come near me...she's waiting for the flesh-eating disease to start chewing my face off.

The strange thing is, I think there's hair growing where the rat blood was.
