Happy Anniversary to Sandy and SueSue.  What a wonderful thing to make 41 years and still look as good as you two do.  May you have 41 more wonderful years.

When I was in my 20s someone asked me if I was Spanish?  Why? I don't know; I don't have anything but a Texas accent.  Go figure.

On Facebook, Alvin Rogers mentioned a wonderful web site to me.  Remember Brockles Dressing?  Here is a recipe for it from the Brockles Family Web Site:

Brockles Restaurant and Special Dressing

Remembering my Brockles Family, Restaurant, and Dressing

Special Dressing Recipe

For all who have asked and any who may be interested, here is the recipe for the homemade version of Brockles Special Dressing:

Ingredients:
1 pint jar of real Mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip)
4 Tbsp of drained sweet pickle relish
2 tsp of paprika
1.5 ounces of crumbled Blue Cheese
1 to 1.5 Tbsp of garlic powder (adjust as desired for taste)

- Spoon Mayo into a mixing bowl
- Put the relish in a fine mesh strainer and press with paper towel to eliminate excess liquid.
- Add ingredients, each with a little stirring.
- Hand mix to an even color and texture.  A wire whip works well.
- Add another half-tsp of paprika for a little bolder color, if desired.
- Put finished mix back into cleaned mayonnaise jar (or container of your choice).
- Keep refrigerated.
- It always tastes better after a day in the fridge.

We often double or triple the recipe, making two or three jars at a time. Let us hear from you if you make some. :-)

The website itself is interesting....pics and info about the Brockles Restaurant. http://brockles.wordpress.com/

Rick, back in the 1980's my former wife and I were touring New England to see the fall foliage. One evening we checked into a little bed & breakfast place and the owner remarked "You're not from around here, are you?".

I made the mistake of asking "Where do you think I'm from?". He crushed my spirit when he answered "... uh, Alabama?".

[Since then I've been overly worried about having an Alabama accent]

Well I never considered myself as having an accent but when I was in Vancouver Washington last week, Marilyn and I were in an elevator and a man got on and all we said was "hi, how are you" and he said "are you from Texas". Then he said he was raised in Waco and his parents still live there.
