Place: LV, TX Comments: Jack - If you do, watch out for green paint.
Place: DeSoto Comments: Jack, come on over, I want to treat you like family
Place: 66erville Comments: I've always tried to do that "treat everyone who enters my house like family" too. Seems there are some people who balk at that. Some people just won't run the sweeper, do the dishes or the laundry or paint a room. And don't even think about asking them to mow the yard or go toe the grocery store. Some people just refuse to be family. Coasty Don, let me know what chores they have you doing for PT!!
Place: Garland - under all these clouds Comments: Don L, sage advice! Glad you figured out about the stairs...ha!ha! I've been in that club since 1963...yes, 1963! Couldn't have surgery then as I was too young so I have dealt with a lot of pain over the years. So Don, when I say I feel your pain....I really do. I resorted to heavy doses of physical therapy...and it does help my old crippled back. Talked to Karen yesterday about her Aunt Marie. She was her dad's sister. She endured a lot of pain over the years and clearly is in a much better place. She always treated everyone who entered her home like "family" - East Texas friendly!
Place: LV, TX Comments: David 'Doc' - Prayers & best wishes for a smooth procedure & speedy recovery from back surgery. Susan S. has been there & told me she's much better now. I'm still trying to get there. Patience isn't necessarily one of our virtues. But try your best, don't go home w/o good pain drugs, walk often & try to get into a PT program soon after. I took y'all's advice & am teleworking from home today. Those stairs will still be there next week. PT starts tomorrow - yeehah (ouch). ![]()
Place: Sachse Comments: Shortcake, be safe as you travel to East Texas. My prayers will be with you and your aunt and all the family. Love you. David, good luck with the surgery tomorrow and prayers for a speedy recovery. Hope your bud Ron Jobe recovers completely as well.
Place: FW Comments: Karen, you're definitely in my prayers. So sorry about your aunt. Have a safe trip.
Place: Garland Comments: My cousin called me this afternoon and told me that my Aunt had passed away in E. TX. Leaving at 6 tomorrow morning to help my cousin plan her funeral. Pls keep us in your prayers.
Place: Southlake Comments: Haven't been on the GB lately. Happy birthday to all that I missed. Sorry to hear about your Mom Don Fugate. Don L. Did you have back surgery? Hope you are doing better. I'm having surgery on my back too tomorrow. Ron Jobe, The Mystics, had lung surgery Monday. Is doing OK. Robert Faries is with him in Nashville.
Place: Conroe Comments: Toni, I barely squeked by and I had the Cliff Notes and a cheat-sheet. Reminded me of Mr. Bushadas' "BQ'S". Actually had a great visit with JWT. We compared Oak Cliff homes and stuff.
Place: Garland Comments: This time last week it was in the low 20s, and it resembles a spring afternoon today! Only in Texas! SNL, Shortcake if you happen to see blonde hair blowing through the sky, it's just mine! What a windy day to have to be pumping gas! Don L, surely you are kidding all of us! Climbing stairs so soon - wow! Please be careful. Dale, inquiring minds would like to know, did you pass Jerry's test today???
Place: Richardson Comments: All I gotta say is "When do you people sleep??!!" my goodness we have some night owls! KMD - I'm glad to hear your dad is doing better. I know you & your loving family will make the best decision for his well fare & future. He is lucky to have you & your siblings to give him help & your love! Please keep us posted! Don L - What were you thinking???? Going back to work so soon & knowing you had 2 flights of stairs to climb!! You must give your back time to heal or you will cause a set-back! "AT Ease Coasty!"Mike Dunn - I got the info & will take care of it in abt 5 min! Love to all & let's take care of ourselves!! Heck I'm planning a mini for Apr 16 & a big party for our 45th in the fall. I want ALL of you to be here for both!!!
Place: Garland Comments: My family and I wish to thank all of our dear friends for your thought and prayers that were given in the loss of our mother. Your caring has been a blessing for us. As I have always said "SOC Friends are the best friends". thank you again and God bless.
Place: Conroe Comments: KMD, First, what are you doing up at 2:00 A.M.? I have a meeting with Jerry Tillery this morning at 9:30 so I'm cramming for his exam. Sounds like you are on top of your dads' needs. I hope all goes well for him and you during this transition. Don, Maybe one of the Green Bay "4- point" girls will be your rehab specialist. Good luck and (I can't believe I'm saying this) listen to KMD and don't do too much too soon. Happy anniversary to SNL and Don and Happy birthday to JD.
Place: Sachse Comments: Hey Don L., it sounds like you are pushing it a little too hard and fast when you start climbing stairs BEFORE you have begun P.T. Take it easy there partner and remember it takes us a little longer to recupe than when we were, shall we say, a bit younger. Wise move to save some pain pills for when the therapist gets a hold on you. My Dad will be released from rehab next month and we (my sister, brother, Dad and I) have a meeting set for Wednesday afternoon with medical and administrative personal at Christian Care Center where he has lived independently up until his illness/injury a few weeks ago. While my Dad has recovered from all infections, we now know that his knee will not get better, leaving him unable to walk or place any weight on it. We will be discussing whether he is eligible to move to the assisted living facility there (considering his new disability) or if it must be in the rest home facilities. I know many of us have been through this with aging parents and it's not fun. Dad is keeping a pretty good outlook throughout it all and I just hope the transition will be as painless as possible. |
