Congrats Ronney, Grandkids are the best!!. Don as an ole sea-dog CPO you should be used to a little pain in the a**, but try and take it easy for a while. Rushing back in the fray can end up undoing the fix. I was over at Mother's house (NW hiway and Plano Rd area) yesterday afternoon and she got a GOOD rain. We had a little rain shower this morning in Sachse. Just enough to cover the car good.

Last night when the winds kicked up the temps dropped 11 degrees is 30 min!!  It was wonderful!  No rain but a relief just the same.

This morning it was thundering & 77 degrees!!!    We haven't seen 77 degrees since early June!  Don went out to mow at 7:45am & all of a sudden . . .  Huge RAIN DROPS starting falling!!!  It never really covered the ground, but even a few drops & lower temps is a miracle during this sweltering, scorched and blistering summer!!   Labor Day weekend is always the turning point for a weather change . . .  can't come soon enough for the DFW area!

Ronney - Looks like things are finally changing for you!  I know you're excited abt the new G-dtr on the way & congrats on landing that full-time good job!!  I think you started bk in June?  I know you're happy abt giving up those part-time & weekend jobs & getting back to a normal work week!  Glad the worm has turned for you!!

Yeah, Ada, send some of that rain this way. We had a little this morning. Just enough to make us mad!!!! haha!

Thanks, Ada and Linda. We are very excited and can hardly wait until little Lila arrives. (The name Lila is after my daughter-in-law's grandmother. Kathleen is after my daughter, Katie.) Katie (Aunt Sissy) is over-the-top excited!!!! Can hardly wait to share my grandbaby's pictures on this website.

Ronney, A little girl....how exciting for Connie and you....and the rest of the family!  I love the name, too!
I guess we are in for a bunch of rain this weekend....we need it, but not as much as Texas does.

Ronney & Connie - congratulations that your d-i-law is having a girl.  What a beautiful name your granddaughter will have.  I know that you are so excited.

Don - hope that you get well soon.  Sometimes we have to have a redo to get it right.

Sandra, are you going to sing the song to me tomorrow?  I'm expecting it.

My daughter-in-law had a sonogram this morning. Our grandbaby is a girl. They are naming her Lila Kathleen McKee. (Lila after my daughter-in-law's grandmother and Kathleen after my daughter). Needless to say, Connie and I can hardly wait until Jan. 10, when the baby is due.

Sure glad I now have a job that gives me the weekends off. We are going to be driving to Abilene a lot, next year.

Thanks for all the well wishes on the 2nd back surgery.  If this one works out, I'll be able to drop 3 meds.  Kathy has no problem with taking a week off while I am my own pain, but quickly included "no curb service either - hung up the roller scates many moons ago!"

Jack - That's a fair assumption about gov't work.  No one has ever stolen any work off my desk or taken over something I was working on, yet.  I guess my co-workers are simply too busy to assume any more workload.

Still not a drop of rain down here in our part of the TX hill country.  Local news report said we broke an all-time record for continuous days of 100 degrees or above. In 1925 the record was 69 - we hit 70 & counting.

I haven't scanned our student directory yet, but wondered how our classmates in DC, VA, NY & elsewhere made out after "Bush's Fault" rumbled thru - good one, James Y .  Those who come to mind are Mike Jacks & Ron Barker, who both work in DC (Ron lives in VA & commutes in), and Sally Taylor in NYC.  I'm sure there are others.

Ron's on my vets' list, so I'll give him a holler.

You lucky dogs!!  The clouds covered the sun, the temp dropped from 101 to 90 within a few minutes & we heard thunder, but that was it!  No rain, not even a drop!!    Glad some of you got a little relief.

We got about 1 1/2 of rain - it was wonderful - walked from Walmart to the car and did not even care that I was getting wet!!   Of course if I end up with a cold before Monday my Dr. will absolutely shoot me!  I had a jacket in the car so I got warm very quickly.  It was great.

It's been thundering for the last hour without a drop, and finally the clouds broke through.  So thankful.  We just need a lot more.

Send some rain, would You send some rain?
'Cause the earth is dry and needs to drink again
And the sun is high and we are sinking in the shade
Would You send a cloud, thunder long and loud?
Let the sky grow black and send some mercy down
Surely You can see that we are thirsty and afraid
But maybe not, not today
Maybe You'll provide in other ways
And if that's the case . . .

(Chorus)

We'll give thanks to You
With gratitude
For lessons learned in how to thirst for You
How to bless the very sun that warms our face
If You never send us rain

Daily bread, give us daily bread
Bless our bodies, keep our children fed
Fill our cups, then fill them up again tonight
Wrap us up and warm us through
Tucked away beneath our sturdy roofs
Let us slumber safe from danger's view this time
Or maybe not, not today
Maybe You'll provide in other ways
And if that's the case . . .

(Chorus)

We'll give thanks to You
With gratitude
A lesson learned to hunger after You
That a starry sky offers a better view if no roof is overhead And if we never taste that bread

Oh, the differences that often are between
What we want and what we really need

So grant us peace, Jesus, grant us peace
Move our hearts to hear a single beat
Between alibis and enemies tonight
Or maybe not, not today
Peace might be another world away
And if that's the case . . .

(Chorus)

We'll give thanks to You
With gratitude
For lessons learned in how to trust in You
That we are blessed beyond what we could ever dream
In abundance or in need
And if You never grant us peace

But Jesus, would You please . .

I too hope this 2nd surgery gives you relief for your ailing back!  I know you've been in misery for months & months.  I'm praying that Labor Day weekend brings a change in the weather here and a change for the better in your back!!  Don't return to work too soon . . .  wait until they start to appreciate what you did, then return slowly.

August 24, 2011. Write it down. Toni is apparently speechless. Had to ditto a comment.
Don, kick back and take a FEW days off. If you are a pain in your own a**, then you can't work standing up or sitting down. Remember, it is a government job, nothing that won't a few days.
