Place: Richardson Comments: Don - I am so very sorry for the passing of your bro Doug. I know how close y'all were and how difficult his struggle has been. You & Doug have remained in my prayers & I will continue praying for you & Doug's family. I know he was your baby bro and that is a hard one to accept. Do give us a link when available. Love to you & Kathy on this great loss.

Place: Lago Vista, TX Comments: My brother, Warren Douglas (‘Doug’) Lincoln, SOC '68, passed away at his home in Salado, TX, shortly after midnight today. He'd been battling cancer for over 6 years. I'll post an obituary link when available. - Don
Place: Coppell Comments: I just emailed Mike. Thanks for sharing Sandy.
Place: Update on Mike Dunn Comments: As most of you know Mike Dunn has had heart trouble for several yrs. He also had a stroke and has been slow to recover. He sent me an Em from his hospital rm on 10-2 saying he was having heart surgery in the mrng & wd be in ICU for awhile. He was moved to a rm on 10-11. Been t/w him via Em. As you can imagine, it's lonely & cold in the hospital. He has a laptop at his bedside & sd he wd really love hearing from old SOC friends!! Unfortunately he is now bleeding internally & they just told him they wd go back in at 6:00am tmo to see why he's bleeding & repair it. If you can, send him an Em as small kindnesses go along way when you are in a hospital bed. Here's his Em. jmdaed@yahoo.com He could certainly use a few prayers as well. Thank you!
Place: Cypress springs Comments: Just got caught up on GB.....you know Jack I am sure km is going to catch up with you for your remarks about trading her!!! You know that she does not have as good a sense of humor as I do! Lol
Place: Richardson Comments: After nearly 13 yrs we had forgot how much work it was to do a successful garage sale! Our Neighborhood Sale was Fri & Sat. We had everything on the 3 big 6ft tables & started carting them out the front door to the curb at 7:15am. The 1st day went pretty well, but it was Fri & lots of people work. We were out there from 7:15 until 2:00pm. On Sat we did the same thing but people starting showing up as we were bringing out the tables!! We stayed out until 1:30. Good Grief it was humid Sat!! Felt like I was in a sauna! No big ticket items, all small household & Ofc stuff from $2 up to $15. Both days only netted us $251.50, but lots of stuff we don't have to store in the closet anymore! We got some good rain late yesterday, started about 4:45pm. Weatherman says more scattered showers for next 3 days. Hope they're right! And yes, . . . I can't sing, but I'll hum it, "The eyes of Texas are upon you .... "
Place: McKinney, TX Comments: SNL - our addition had a community garage sale yesterday. Made about $50 in 4 hrs. so we were happy. Did sell Rudy's old MAC teal green desktop from the 90s for $5. We were happy someone took it off our hands. One thing I noticed here as compared to Duncanville, the people don't negotiate from $1 item to asking if I'll take $.50. We closed up shop about 12:30 pm and in the process met some nice neighbors. If anyone is interested, we do have a custom made small round conference table (more the size of a game table) with 4 very comfortable arm chairs. The table top is solid birds eye maple (light wood) and weighs a ton. Rudy had it when he owned the advertising company in the 90s - 2001. Excellent condition - $150.00. We asked a consignment store if they would sell it and said that the wood was too light that the style today is more towards dark wood.
Place: Sachse Comments: Hook 'um !!
Place: Muggy & hot in Richardson Comments: This was just to good to pass up! It was on FB & thought y'all would enjoy seeing it. They all had tickets to the Eagles concert last night!! Fugates, Davis & Kidd!
Place: Rocking with the Eagles at the AAC Comments: Just had a wonderful meal at the Victory Tavern Grill with the Fugates and the Kidds, now we are rocking to the music of the Eagles at the AAC. Life is good. Wish all were here.
Place: Coppell Comments: Other than the issue with being inundated with AARP mail solicitors, I keep getting notices from them that my yearly membership fee is due. This is only after I signed up and paid for two years in 2012. I'm paid until November 2014. Their computer system is so antiquated they evidently are not hanging the acorn in the squirrel cage to power it. I for one will not be renewing my membership. Thanks for the website Jack.
Place: Richardson Comments: Very busy this wk. Been preparing for our neighborhood Garage Sale this Fri & Sat! Starts 8:00am! If anyone is interested, we have 6 very nice framed pictures for sale. 3 are Custom Framed & Matted. Also some Ofc Splys, 91-piece set of Dansk dishes, 2 large framed mirrors, and lots of nice household items. Some were my Mom & Dad's and others just don't work in this house! Funny how things can look so good in one house & not work at all in another house!! I also had more kit counter space & book shelves in the other house. If you're interested, you know where I live! Starts at 8:00am!! BTW - Jack TNX for the interesting website! I liked it. I dropped out of AARP about 3 yrs ago. They insisted on inundating me with solicitation for products. No matter how many times I asked them to stop & even put it in writing, they continued. I quit paying dues & it stopped.
Place: 66erville Comments: FYI: For those of you out there who don't like AARP I found another "senior" org that you should look into. It is AMAC, Association of Mature American Citizens. The website is www.amac.us. Take a look at it and see if you like what they stand for and what they are doing.
Place: Coppell Comments: Right Jack. Be right over. By the way, in case your dishwasher stops working you can use mine. Sarah only charges $10.00 per hour. |
