Place: Richardson Comments: Roe - I don't remember a Wilson Roe. Couldn't find him on the graduation list or in the Den. Was he a '66er? Man, that hailstorm in our area Wed night was a doozy! It really hit Plano, Richardson, Murphy, Sachse & Wylie hard. Adjusters are all over our neighborhood. We checked our roof today and it has dimples all in it on the west side. All the fences look like Jack's photo on FB, they are all pock-marked! Looks like a hammer was taken to them. I'm thankful no shingles flew off and no windows were broken. My flowers are gone . . . just a few stems left. But I can plant again and the leaves on the trees will come back.
Place: DeKalb, Tx Comments: Susan, U R right we R in our Golden Years. I noticed Wilson Roe is not on the list, he drowned in 68 at the gravel pitts off hwy 175. Will this list please stop growing?
Place: North Richland Hills Comments: Believe it or not, I'm checking in! I just looked over the In Memoriam page. That list sure is getting long! Very sad. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the 9th!
Place: Calif. Comments: Happy St. Pat's Day all, and Sláinte (to your health, or cheers). My mother spoke a little of the "old language".
Place: Richardson Comments: Today marks 7 yrs since my Dad passed away from complications of Alzheimer's. It was a hard 15 yrs for him and us. But the irony of it is that he's Irish. He had red hair, green eyes and yes, he loved his beer! So what more appropriate day than St. Patrick's Day. I posted a TBT pic on FB. Here's to you Dad . . . Happy St. Patrick's Day to All.
Place: Richardson Comments: Sammy - It does seem that it's always on the residents side. But we didn't even call the plumber until early Monday as weren't about to pay "overtime" charges. He did come out early Monday and we got away with $251 total for the whole thing. I'm definitely keeping his name & # as he was good and didn't rip us off. He came recommended by a neighbor.
Place: The Lake Comments: Sandy, your story is déjà vu all over again. The exact same thing happened to Sarah and I when we lived in Coppell. The water leak at the meter was 1/8th of an inch on our side. It was on a Sunday and we had the audacity to call "Joe the plumber" right in the middle of his Ribeye steak lunch. Soooooo, $475.00 later, leak fixed. Sounds like to me plumbers have a deal with cities. Just sayin.
Place: Water flowing in Richardson Comments: Yeah!!! Water line fixed and we're back in business. Oh how fortunate we are to have water with the touch of a handle . . . makes me realize how good we have it! ![]() Hey . . . Anyone wrapping empty boxes yet?? I have collected 5 boxes in the last few days. Going to the Dollar Store later today to look for pretty paper.
Place: No Water - Richardson Comments: Got a hold of plumber this morning & he's working us in as has full load today. Area dug out & broken pipe removed. Has to go get a new connector to fit. Supposed to have water before end of day. Man, this is like being at my Grandmas house back in Arkansas before she had plumbing! You don't realize what all is affected by not having water!
Place: Richardson Comments: Hooray for the sunshine! Late yesterday we had a big water issue. At 4:30pm went to get the mail and saw all this water standing on the sidewalk. Our sidewalk has sunk there anyway so water will stand for awhile when it rains. But this was different and it didn't rain here yesterday. Told Don I think we have a meter leak. After checking everything out and eating supper, we took another look and Oh Yeah, big time leak. Called City, they came out within 45 min. Pumped water out, turned off water and said, the bad leaking/broken pipe is on YOUR side! No water & it's Sunday. Hopefully tomorrow will get a repair and water back on.
Place: Richardson Comments: I think it's finally stopped raining!! have a little sun peeking out. Sammy, nice talking with you yesterday & thrilled to hear the good news about your foot. Looking forward to seeing you & Sarah , and hopefully Shirley & Marvin Mullins too, at the Mini. Lots of you have emailed to let me know you'd bring several small boxes all wrapped in Gold paper. It will really help and be appreciated. I'd hate for Barb to have to wrap 50-60 boxes all by herself!! LOL LOL Mark your calendar for April 9th - Spring Mini. And don't forget to Spring Forward tonight for DST!
Place: Lake Tawakoni Comments: Sarah and I sent our pictures to Don last week for the 50th. For those of you who haven't yet, now would be a good time. September will be here before you know it and no point in scurrying the last minute. This will be a great presentation for all to see. Got a good report from my foot doctor last week for my 4th post op visit. He said I can drive again, despite Sarah's strong objections. He wrote her a prescription for chill pills. See you guys at the spring mini.
Place: Richardson Comments: Many of you always ask if there’s anything you can do to help with the reunion. As a matter of fact, there is. Barbara and I would like you to bring an empty box wrapped in Gold paper to the Mini. Weird . . . not really. They will be used as part of our 50th Reunion decorations! Make sure you wrap it in some type of Gold wrapping paper. Any kind, gold & white stripped, solid gold, glitter gold, gold and white polka dots . . . you get the idea. The largest size should be no larger than about 7 inches by 7 inches and the smallest no smaller than about 4 inches by 4 inches. They can be any combination in between. We need about 26 or so each of the large, medium and small sizes. In looking around for empty boxes I’ve found the ones protein bars, breakfast bars, Belvita cookies, etc come in are good medium to large boxes. The box our Quicken software came in is a perfect size. Also the boxes individual bars of soap and checkbooks come in are great for the small size. Use your imagination and start saving boxes. Please bring as many as you can to the April 9th Mini. It will be appreciated and you will have made a great contribution to the 50th décor. It’s OK to use ribbon, but don’t put bows on them as they will be stacked. So come on girls and guys, wrap a few boxes and bring them to the Mini. P.S. I have no idea what the heck they've done to our GB. If you go to make a post don't worry about all the "extra" stuff, just type your comments and it works. I'll contact them now.
Place: DeSoto Comments: Boy have I been in the dark about the goings on in DISD, enjoyed the history of C.P.Russell. I remember a lady the sold candy and such out of her converted garage I think about a block from the school. Went by the school last spring just to see what it looked like, sad really sad. I remember the "toilet bomb" with parts flying and every one hitting the door at the same time and I had just lit my cigarette!!! (bad habit I dropped 38 years ago) I'm not sure we'll make the reunion as we're planing a trip about the same time but will try.
Place: Mini Date is 4-9-16 Comments: JS - That was interesting about the history of Clinton P. Russell. I'm surprised it didn't have a name change in 1951. How would J. Southworth Elementary sound? Everyone take note that our next Mini will be held April 9th at the Hyatt - Richardson. All the details are listed on our Events pg. |
