Place: The Woodlands Comments: Wonderful hear from you Sandy Shellito! I have so many wonderful memories of you. How great you live in Amish country. When we had our business we had a project in Bucks County Pennsylvania. The people were so wonderful. Hope to see you one day soon.
Place: KC, MO Comments: "Hi" to all. Hope that everyone is well and staying cool. We had some damaging storms over the weekend. My brother Bobby lost a large portion of a big tree - it landed on a chain-link fence instead of on his house, thankfully. A big tree catty-cornered across the street from me was sheared off level to the ground - but no damage to the apartment building or to cars. Has anyone heard news about Smokey Kimbrough lately? For some reason his name popped into my head earlier this afternoon. Love to all - Carol
Place: Richardson Comments: A big hello to Sandy Shellito!! Last time we saw you was at our 40th. Hope you are doing well and please drop by more often! Sammy - in all honesty, I can't remember every burning up a meal. I've cooked a pie crust a little too brown before I learned about a foil tent, I've cooked some hash browns pretty crispy while talking on the phone and I've over-cooked some chicken breast on the grill but not burned. Can I say that all my dishes come out perfect every time . . . No Way in Heck! I've cooked many a dish, usually a new recipe, and it was a disaster! A few times I've said, "Let's just throw it out!" Heck, I've even mis-measured an item in a recipe before and boy did that screw it up!! I thought it said 2/3 cup of oil and it said 1/3 cup. Should of had my glasses on!!
Place: Amish Country, PA Comments: What a great website you have created Sandy. I look in every once in a while. So many sad things that happen in lives of our classmates and their families. Then the funny silly posts are fantastic. So much work you have put into this and it is great to see what is going on periodically. If I lived down there I would love to go to the minis and reunions. God bless you! Sandy
Place: KC, MO Comments: Sam- I'm not sure that this was the first in my long line of cooking mishaps - but I once burned boiled eggs. I forgot about them and let the water totally boil away. I'm listening to the Royals game right now. If we win tonight, there is a possibility that we can be a half game out of first place in the AL Central. If we could just erase our rotten April! The countdown is on! Eleven weeks from Monday I head for Aspen! Thinking of you, Don and Barbara - and your family, too. Love to all - Carol (Oh - and a triple rimshot for you, Annette!)
Place: 66erville Comments: OK, Sam. My family had a place at Cedar Creek lake. I took Glynda and the kids down for a weekend and brought a brisket to cook. I fired up the grill, threw in some wet wood chips, put on the brisket and closed the lid. Four or five hours later, I opened the lid and had a big crispy, black lump. An area of about 3" by 3" in the very center was eatable. Grills don't make good smokers. Went to town and got fried chicken for dinner.
Place: Big D Comments: C'mon Sandy, and the rest of you, y'all are telling me you never burned a meal? Just interested in your very first. You know Sarah's from reading my post. We still laugh about that.
Place: Richardson Comments: Now we're getting down & dirty . . . and Smiley hasn't even weighed in yet! LOL Glad to see some of you are still reading the GB and have a sense of humor . . . or not?
Place: The Woodlands Comments: Never compliment a senior for their flip flops.
Place: Dallas Comments: Or not.
Place: Richardson Comments: Annette - I've found almost everything is a lot lower these days!
Place: Woodlands Comments: Yeah but it's a whole lot lower.
Place: Calif. Comments: Annette, you need to get back on stage. Ya' still got it. |
