Place: Pottsboro, Tx Comments: Sandy, I just wanted you all to know that Betty’s sister Mary Ann Tucker, class of 62, had lost her husband David Tucker recently last year, she just lost her best friend a few days before Betty (her younger sister) passed. Please keep Mary Ann in your prayers as she is devastated. They have one brother Robert left, but lots of grandkids and family. Unexpected deaths are hard to take, but this one has her sis in shock. Pleas pray for them.
Place: Richardson Comments: For those of you not on FB, I'm posting the info regarding Betty Gibbs services. I copied & pasted it below. "Betty Gibb's service will be Saturday, January 20, at Midlothian Funeral Home, 200 E. Ave East, Midlothian, TX. Visitation is from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and the service is at 3:00p.m."
Place: League City, TX Comments: I’m still reeling after hearing of Betty Gibbs passing. Knowing she is resting in the arms of Jesus now is a comfort. Prayers for her family left behind to morn her passing. Prayers also for Vernon’s sweet wife JoAnn to recover fully. Many thanks to Don L for his beautiful accounting of our heroic classmate Robert(Bob) Hook. It was very moving.
Place: Buuurrrrr in Richardson Comments: Wanted to give you what little we know about the passing of Betty Gibbs, class of '64. Her sister, Mary Ann, said she went to the hospital there in Sulfur Springs (that's where she lives) on Thursday. They found she had blockage in some arteries going in/out of her heart. She was Care-Flighted to Dallas Medical City Hospital Friday. She had a heart attack at 4:30am Saturday morning and passed away. Betty was a very private person and until her sister or son post something on FB, please respect their privacy as they grieve. As soon as Peaches gets any add'l info, I will pass it along. We have lost a really wonderful Mom, Grandma to her G-dtr Rieley and good friend to many.
Place: Richardson Comments: James, thank you so much for this post! I'm friends with Barbara but haven't seen this. I guess she posted it on the '65 site only. I can't believe Betty is gone. She was so sweet and never conceited even thought she was very beautiful. This makes me very sad.
I'll have to talk with Peaches or Barbara to see what the info is. Thank you James!
Place: Carthage, Texas Comments: This was on Barbara Boerschinger Moffett’s FBook page today for the ‘65 class. Betty was a very nice person who was always appreciative of the Band when we played or practiced with the Debs. Betty Gibbs , class of '64 Deb Captain, went to be with Jesus this morning. She was a very special person and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Place: Richardson Comments: Talked with Charles this morning and JoAnn Moreland isn't doing as well as they first thought. Not able to stand, so not able to go to a rehab. Vernon is still exploring what their options are and trying to navigate the medical system and make decisions. Please continue the prayers for JoAnn. Thank you SOC Bears!!
Place: Richardson Comments: Don Lincoln, thank you from the bottom of my heart for seeing this through and giving us such a wonderful, yet heartbreaking, story of our friend, Bob Hook. And bless Jim Bennett, he can now feel a closure for his best friend.
Place: LV, TX Comments: *Urgent* - Lost Medals of Sgt. Robert W Hook - American Legion Special Presentation - Sat., Jan. 13th, Noon All – My apologies for the late notice, but I want to share this regarding our only Vietnam KIA and classmate, Bob Hook – not only because of the bizarre turn of events, but also to invite any of you who are able to a very special event. Unfortunately, I will be unable to attend due to a family memorial service. I've already sent this to all SOC ’66 Military Vets. Please pass the word to anyone else you feel might be unaware. (very long reading, but edited to save some space - if you want full text, pls let me know)
Place: Richardson Comments: Good to hear from you Vernon. You and JoAnn will remain on my prayer list. I hope you can find a good rehab place close to your home. Let Charles or us on the GB know when she's able to leave the hospital.
Place: Fairview TX Comments: Continued prayers for Vernon’s wife, JoAnn. It’s so good to hear good news these days. I hope JoAnn continues to improve and that Vernon remembers to take a few minutes to exhale.
Place: Clement hospital Dallas, Texas Comments: To all SOC 66 prayer warriors. Thank you for all your prayers. JoAnn is better has a long struggle ahead of her.
Place: Richardson Comments: My apologies to Charles & Vernon, I should have posted this last night. I started watching a good H-M movie and literally forgot! Per Charles' conversation with Vernon yesterday, the prayers are working! Yesterday, Saturday, JoAnn took a turn for the better! She was more alert and wanting to go home! Vernon is checking out Rehab places closer to where they live down in Italy. Hopes she can be moved there soon. But she has a long road to go as been down and in bed for 10-12 days and recovering from that terrible back infection.Vernon is thankful for all his SOC Friends and for your prayers, keep them coming as she is not in good shape and will be a long recovery.
Place: Richardson Comments: No apologies needed Tanya. This 1st showed up on FB but Don already knew about the issue. There's more to this situation than most people know and Don is aware of it and his widow. If, for whatever reason, she doesn't want them Don will ask to obtain them. Once the issue is resolved I will post the conclusion here and on FB so everyone will know. Thank you for thinking about us. ❤️
Place: Pottsboro Comments: Sorry about all the unwanted calls, etc re Your classmate. Gary had just got the message and my first thought was you. I apologize for the notice, and upsetting anyone. I didn’t want this to happen to any classmate. To me their lives matter and felt I should bring it to your class attention in case the medals might be donated to the class. |
