Place: Dallas Comments: Any song by Simon and Garfunkel, The Righteous Brothers and Neal Diamond. Sarah and I were fortunate to see The Righteous Brothers perform at Moody Coliseum in Dallas and Neal Diamond twice at American Airlines Arena.
Place: Richardson Comments: That's why I do better with a hairbrush in my hand rather than a mic! Love me some R-E-S-P-E-C-T .
Place: Edmond OK Comments: I suppose that could prove problematic. 🗣😁
Place: 66erville Comments: Sometimes she forgets she's lip syncing and sings!
Place: Richarson Comments: Careful what you wish for . . .
Place: Edmond OK Comments: To see you do the Aretha Franklin thing would be worth the price of admission.
Place: Richardson Comments: I'm a big Sam & Dave fan, so Hold On I'm Comin' is a personal favorite of mine as well as Soul Man! I also still like In the Midnight Hour by Wilson Picket. I'm an ol' Rock n Roller and just ask the girls . . . don't play Aretha's RESPECT unless you want me to lip sync it. LOL Hopefully Sally T. will come back here and let us know what made her go to NYC. Maybe her handsome husband was the incentive?
Place: Edmond OK Comments: Remarking on your comment, Sandy, I do wonder how a classic Texas gal like Sally ended up in the Apple. I have never heard the story if it has been told. 🤔
Place: Edmond OK Comments: Speaking of those wonderful days, do any of you have a really special song from our SOC years that goes beyond just, “I liked that song alot”? On the playlist I have for my gym workouts, I have “All These Things” by Joe Stampley and the Uniques. Not sure it made much impact at the time outside Texas and Louisiana, but it was popular during our graduation activities, especially our Senior party at the Country Club. KLIF played it either while driving to or from (maybe both) and that was such a great evening, it is really special to me. Y’all have one?
Place: Richardson Comments: This site over the last 14 years has been instrumental in bringing together old friends that have been separated for years and many miles. Had no idea Sally & Paul were friends in typing class! Y'all should chat & catch up on old times.
Place: Edmond OK Comments: I echo Sandy’s “great to hear from you Sally.” And God Bless Texas INDEED!
Place: Richardson Comments: It is always good to hear from my NYC friend, Sally T. Let us know how "In the New World" turns out. I know y'all had a horrible winter that just wouldn't end! Enjoy the spring as it may be short lived. We're going into summer here and it started early, in May! Take care Sally and do stay in touch!
Place: NYC Comments: Hello Everyone, Seems I have not looked at this in months. I had to go back 11 pages to catch up!! I see Paul Scholte was on the Guest Book. We, Lyn ( if my memory is correct) and I had a good time in Typing with Paul. And Paul wins the youngest person in the class award as far as I can tell--by months! I thought it was me but Paul is 7 or 8 months younger! He is still 68! I just started a book called In the New World by Lawrence Wright. It is an older book (20 years old, I think) and it starts with a little history of Dallas. Let's see if it is interesting! I bet you all know about all of the books about Texas but we don't get that much information up here. The only reason I know about this is because his new book , God Save Texas was reviewed by the New York Times and I actually saw that review. Anyway, God Bless Texas! I hear that it is hot down there. Our spring finally started a few weeks ago and will finish in June. But we suffered from a long winter. Funny how these things go! Hope you all have a great summer!
Place: Richardson Comments: How wonderful to have a painting from Ms. Hess . . . what a treasure! I was at the SOC Girls lunch bunch yesterday (all of them are 63, 64 & 65) and I'm the only 66er. Susan Crume Young was married to Chris Stoehr & she sent a notice to one of the girls at our luncheon. Jim Stoehr, his younger brother, was in our class and he died of a massive heart attack a long time ago, it was even before our 40th. On a happier note - - - we have 50 people registered for our 70th B-day Party! C'mon guys, we have room for 75, so let's fill up the room.
Place: Kerrville Comments: Here is an interesting item about Peggy H. In later life Peggy took up painting. Mostly religious paintings - life size. She gave me one of her earlier paintings. It is not life size but pretty big. It is of a little girl -said it kind of looked like me. It is one of my most prized possessions. |
