Place: Richardson Comments: James, I hated to hear about your health scare but glad it sounds like you are taking care of it and so far so good. Well SOCites, it seems like we are all in the same boat and we're determined to keep paddling to reach the shore. SOCites are tough and we never give up! As the old saying goes, "Get knocked down 3 times, get up four. Get knocked down 5 times, get up six." and so on. This is why I love our little GB here. We can tell our friends what's going on without having to post it on FB. I have some good and very encouraging news. Today, Sunday, Don said he feels pretty good! He's not dizzy at all and he's moving around very well. I think he's finally got all those drugs out of his system and getting his system back in order. He still has a little bit of Trigeminal pain while eating but it's minor, so we'll keep working on that with the meds. Thank you for your support and prayers as we appreciate both. Love to all, and, God Bless the class of '66.
Place: Carthage, TX Comments: Here’s hoping all are on the mend. I have had some issues with polyps in my esophagus and where the stomach meets. Regular gastric Dr found a large benign polyp and she sent me to a Dr with higher expertise/equipment. Went yesterday (Fri) to have the polyp removed. Excused and put clips to stop bleeding. Back in 8 weeks to check clips etc. all in all we were Blessed.
Place: Oak Cliff Comments: Dear Friends, Here's a brief note about positive health news for me: after all the scans and bloodwork for my shortness of breath and coughing, the pathologist's report came in. We knew there was no cancer nor pulmonary embolisms, but the pathology report reveals a manageable type of lung disease often responsive to medication and (temporarily, I hope) oxygen therapy. The last two weeks have been a long haul, but this proud Golden Bear will be seeing y'all. Thanks for the kind wishes and notes and prayers. Randy
Place: Edmond OK Comments: Prayer list is getting really long but that is one of the things we are here for. Ada Ann and Don....let’s see 100% soon! And Randy and ....one thing I will say...Golden Bears are no wimps. 💪
Place: Richardson Comments: Paul - You are so right! El Fenix is Don's & my go-to place to eat. It's always good, fast & hot. Don has already started thinking about El Fenix and can't wait until he's able to go there for dinner! ![]() Ada Ann - I'm so sad to learn you were back in the hospital for a week. I hope you & the doc got it under control so you won't have to go back. I will continue to include you, Paul, Randy & Martha in my prayers. Yes, I got to finally bring Don home Wed afternoon. We are laying low and taking it easy as his body has to recover from the awful trauma it went thru for 5 days & nights with the Trigeminal Nerve, and having had heart surgery 2 weeks earlier, it has been taxing. But, today was a good day as there was some improvement in his stability & well being. I think it's a great sign! Don wanted me to thank all of you for your prayers and your concern. We both greatly appreciate it. Next week is filled with follow-up Dr. appointments (3), hopefully they will have encouraging news for us. Goodnight my friends, and may God Bless and keep us all safe for another Mini. ![]()

Place: LV, TX Comments: H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Eileen Sandefer & Bovie Browning today, Feb. 23!
Place: LV, TX Comments: I'm also getting caught up from a few days ago. Sandy - Sure glad the two of you are back home, caught up on your rest and hope Don is recovering well. Randy - Sorry to hear you're having pulmonary issues, and it didn't sound like they had it diagnosed from your previous post. Hopefully, they do by now and it will be brought under control soon. Ada - So, you're an Afib'er, too? Found out about mine a few yrs ago after surgery. Tried to shock it back, but wouldn't stay, so meds & bi-annual check-ups now. Otherwise, I can't feel it. Hope you have it & bleeding ulcers under control - and no more hospital trips for a while. Just FYI - I'm may be missing some info or behind the times on issues affecting our class, if the info is posted on FB. That's because I don't have an account setup on FB. Someone recently assumed I knew about another classmate's medical condition, based upon FB updates, but I have to rely on info that's re-posted on the g/b - thanks.
Place: Kerrville Comments: Have been off of guestbook for awhile so it is going to take some time to get caught up. Sandy - so sorry to hear about Don. I trust that, with prayers he is doing much better. Everyone else needs to stay well! Do not skip your checkups etc.
Place: NH Comments: I hope that everyone is healing.....too much has been happening to all of us. I spent last week in the hospital.....a good part of the time in the ICU. AFib acting up and bleeding ulcers. I was anemic, so received 2 pts of blood. Don, you need to get better so you can get out on that bike! Paul, cancer sucks...hang in there. Randy....glad you are seeing an improvement....take it easy....listen to your body. Prayers for all.
Place: Sachse Comments: Glad to hear the good news. Hope and prayers of all who under the weather to get well soon. Anybody know Kimberly Wealthforth? Or who she is??
Place: Oak Cliff Comments: P.S. SOC '66 Friends: I overlooked adding that the rest of us who are not well or have loved ones ailing are in my prayers. Just know that I am thinking of you. Randy
Place: Oak Cliff Comments: Dear Friends, Let me explain the references to my health. A couple of weeks ago I went to my internist with shortness of breath and a cough. After getting the results of my blood work and x-rays, he sent me to the ER overnight for more tests and a CAT scan because he saw indications of a pulmonary embolism. He used he phrase "life-threatening." But I have no PE nor lung cancer. It took a while to find an appt. with an excellent pulmonologist who did a high-resolution CAT scan and a gallon's worth of more blood work to rule out hundreds of lung diseases/conditions. All is normal so far. He just yesterday got a report from pathology after he did my bronchoscopy, and I am hoping for a call this afternoon. I'm on oxygen, and that helps, but I have the energy of a wet rag. Still short of breath, still coughing. But it appears my condition can be managed. I thought this forum the best for my SOC friends though several of you have seen my Facebook posts before today. Please keep me in your prayers. I'll keep you posted as best I can. Many thanks, Randy
Place: Calif Comments: I'm just getting caught up here. Seems like a lot of drama that's working out. I hope SNL and Don are working through this. I'm unaware of problems with Randy C., however. I trust he and his family are well, as with all the SOC family. |
