Place: Dallas Texas Comments: Hello to all my SOUTHOakcLIFF HIGH SCHOOL FRIENDS
Place: Richardson Comments: Carol - Thanks for posting the info regarding Chips! Since it's 2 weeks away, I believe I'll be good enough to go to Chips for lunch. Don & I really like the beautiful place in Plano just off the DNT & 121. If it's pretty weather, that's the place to be! From what I can see, Dennis & Richard are very much alike. Both are kind, caring and very generous men. Thank you in advance Dennis - you do good work! Hope to be there on Feb 4th!
Place: Overland Park, KS Comments: Facebook post from Richard Nance from today: "Those in the Dallas vicinity interested should go to Chips Restaurant on Feb. 4th. Brother Dennis says they're donating all profits for the day to the Australian fire-relief fund(s). This includes all 3 stores. Pretty fair chance you'll run across some friends from the past. Just so you know. (share this if you wish)." Thanks to Richard for letting us know about this...and extra special thanks to Dennis and to Chips for doing this awesome thing! ❤️🇦🇺
Place: Richardson Comments: After 12 miserable days I'm finally feeling decent! I've been catching up on FB & GB and the stuff piling up on my desk. I have some pics to post on our site & hope to do it soon, just a lot to catch up on. Many thanks to Jack for sharing about Sidney's memorial & to Carol & Janice & Kathy for sharing info and pics from SOC. I saw so many people on the FB pics, WOW, the 60's really showed up at SOC! As for the coffee & cookies, well . . . cold weather always makes me think of that! Also the beautiful birds out my window that I feed. Very pretty.
Place: Sachse Comments: Now, Karen, you know I got "let go" from that place. They said I was beyond their capabilities. I took that as "cured".
Place: Kerrville Comments: Thanks Don and Jack for your comments - especially you Jack. I tried the regular therapy but they said they really needed to get you in there first so I guess I will stick to physical therapy for now. At least til they find a cure for you.
Place: Edmond Comments: Would love to have witnessed the “SOC reveal” with the rest of you that went.
Place: LV, TX Comments: H a p p y B i r t h d a y wishes go out to Janet Hohhertz Bronstad, yesterday, Jan. 11th and to Kay Brumley, today, Jan. 12th!
Place: LV, TX Comments: Jack - Thank you for sharing Kim's note from Sidney's memorial service. I'm sure there wasn't a dry eye in attendance, but certainly after reading her words. Until reading his obit, I wasn't aware that Sidney had served in the Army Reserves. If you or anyone else knows the family well enough to introduce me, I'd like to add him to our SOC '66 vets roster. No rush - thanks.
Place: SW of Fort Worth Comments: What a celebration! It was obvious many hours were given to the ribbon cutting and following celebration for the newly remodeled SOC. The transformation was incredible. I was so glad to see they left the brick courtyard and a few original parts, “The Golden Bear” still having its presence, front and center ❤️ Randall, Janice, Carol and I had a delightful day touring and spending the day together. We were so warmly welcomed. JOB WELL DONE❣️
Place: Richatdson Comments: Thank you Jack! I so badly wanted to go to Sidney's memorial, just couldn't get out of the bed and make it,too sick. Thank you for sharing! I also had planned to go to SOC today. I'm up & walking around the house but far from feeling good or able to get out and about. This infection has been long-lasting, since Jan 1, but I believe by tomorrow I will be much better and start trying to return to normal. Those that go to the SOC Ribbon Cutting, please give a report when you get back.
Place: Sachse Comments: I attended Sidney Banz memorial service. Janice, Randall and Lloyd Wilson were there too. It was a nice service. Sidney's sister gave a eulogy. She warned us, she liked to talk and she did. Kim, Sidney's wife wrote on the back of the program and I thought I might share it with y'all. God saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you and whispered, "Come with me" With tearful eyes we watched you slowly fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we would not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, your hard-working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best. I reminded Kim she is part of the SOC family.
Place: Plano, TX Comments: Hello and Happy New Year!!! Regarding the SOC Ribbon cutting ceremony, Randall Sims, Carol Carpenter and I are slated to attend on Saturday. Bundle up, it may be cold but will be fun to see the New SOC. Janice
Place: Richardson Comments: After 8 days . . . I think I'm going to make it. It's been a rough 8 days. I'm doing better today but I'm not 100% and, as much as I really want to go, I'm not going to the Ribbon Cutting & Opening for SOC. Can't risk having a relapse. It's going to be cold & showers that morning as well. BTW - Once again, the Parade is 9 - 11. The Ribbon Cutting & Open House is at 11:00am. Nothing has changed since I first posted it on the Events page. Hope y'all enjoy & will tell us about it later!
Place: 3212 s Ravinia dr Comments: this Saturday 9am to 2pm open for tours all alumni welcome. 1/11/20 |
