Pool Guy; slat is the code word for salt. Doctors tell us to stay away from salt. Mine doesn't even want me to use the word so it is encoded.
It is OK that you don't know that. You probably haven't seen a doctor since your last football physical.
KMG love your gravy! May I suggest you use flank steak or round steak?
I think I had some friends who made that back in the 70's. Only they didn't heat it. Called it trash can punch!

Rick, good to see you post.  Congratulations on your new position.
You never loan a friend or relative money, if you still want them for a friend or relative and you never borrow from them either!
Now if you want to give it to them, that's a different story.

Re. loaning someone money, I loaned a friend in the Army $150. and he never paid me back.
I hope I never see him again because it would hurt to find out
he is a millionaire and won't pay back what he owes me.

Good morning!  Hope your day is fabulous and your week is even better .  My daughter from California was in this past weekend and we had a ball.  I can't remember the last time I had so much fun.  It was non stop and we got very little sleep, but it was worth every minute.

Good morning Mr Dagley

Happy Jack, what is 1 and 1/2 teaspoon of slat? Is this an herb?
Something grown in your bathroom under a blue light?
Do you buy it in a street corner?
Does it come from South America?
Next time you go to a fix'n chicken fried steak, I'd sure be proud to join ya

JD, we had biscuits & gravy with sausage & eggs yesterday & again this mrng !!  As Jack said, the gravy is best when made in the skillet you just made sausage or chicken friend steak in.  I've never "warmed" the milk before adding it to my skillet with the browned and thickened grease, but that will work too.  But trust me, there is an art to getting the right amount of grease & drippings combined with the right amount of flour and pouring in the milk so it doesn't lump.  Bring Kathy with you in June & we'll show her how to do it southern Oak Cliff style!!    She's such a good cook we'll have her cookin' up cream gravy before you head back to the tundra!  (Jack's not a bad cook either)

Did everyone set their clocks forward????

While we are talking about gravy recipes, here a good one:

Take one filet mignon steak and place in large pot and add the following ingredients.
1 cup vodka
1 cup sour mash whiskey
1 cup gin
1 cup bourbon
1 cup cognac
1 twist of lime (optional)
Heat all ingredients until piping hot (do not boil)
Throw out the steak, it's ruined. But ooooohhh that gravy!
For more festive occasions, substitute 1 cup champagne for the sour mash whiskey.

OK, JD. Print the page or write it down and put in a safe place.

In a heavy, 2 quart saucepan, heat 3 cups of milk BUT DON'T LET IT BOIL.
Use a skillet ( hopefully where you have just cook a chicken fried steak) put 4 or 5 tablespoons of grease. (better if you use that much left over from cooking the steaks)
Over medium heat, heat the grease and add 3 tablespoons of flour, 1 tablespoon at a time. Continue stirring to brown flour.
When brown, hot and bubbling, add hot milk.
Stir constantly until thick and creamy.
Add 1 & 1/2 teaspoon slat and 1 teaspoon pepper or season to taste.
There it is.....DON'T BURN IT.
Enjoy.

Does anyone have a quality "White Cream Gravy" Recipe?

Please help...use my e-mail address to the right in BLUE

Thanks

SNL, you fell hook, line and sinker for Smiley's gagline.

JS, I agree with you whole-heartedly that Michael Clayton was a big let down. I don't know what all the hype was about.Yvonne and Dale are the greatest (but just ignore the megalomaniacal ramblings of Dale about winning a spelling bee - pure gibberish!)

Sam, I can't loan you money. I like you and want to see you again.
Good to hear the Smileys and the Southworths got together and enjoied it.
Sorry to hear Dale report that Von is sluring her words.
Hey Southworth, did Dale have any problem hearing/understnding you?
With that foursome you can bet there were some big words flying around.

John, nice to see the class of 63 getting together with class of 66.  Odd about the time though, we usually found 2 hrs with Dale felt like all day! .  Nice to see that wasn't the case!

Why don't you & Dru come on up in June & meet the rest of the crowd.  You already know all of us by name and I know many of the grp would love to meet you!   I believe Dale & Yuvonne said they were planning to attend.

Pigs & deer . . . ????     I'm lost!

Jack,
Let me get this straight. You want Sam to give you 50 female pigs and 50 male deer?
