Comments: That's "push" my button. I had a customer and had to hurry
Comments: I remember "Winky Dink", Buffalo Bob and Claribell, Hop a long Cassidy. It's fun to remember ![]() ![]() ![]() My mother told me I would get nose bleed if I sat in the balcony, and I Never had nose bleed. Some people just know how to put my button.
Comments: Thank you KMG for the vote & saying it in proper English!! ![]() ![]() Also, I forgot about It's a Wonderful Life! Considering I've watched it more than any other movie, it must be a favorite! I see it every Christmas and never get tired of it. Some of the oldest shows I can remember are Howdy Doody, Topper, I Love Lucy and then the old Westerns like Lone Ranger & Hopalong Cassidy. Doc, make sure you & Shirley come on June 7th & you can meet the elder Mr. Southworth live & in person!
Comments: Hey, Reynolds-Wrap: Looks like I have something for ORANGE. But, to be honest, it is only a coincidence.
Comments: OK Ronney - did you just pick out movies with Orange in them and go see them? Mesquite has activated out CERT group from the Fire Dept. to help find the teenager that drowned in the flood Monday. They still have not been able to locate him. So we are going over there this morning. We had a group there Monday night but it did not help. It seems like everytime it rains that happens somewhere! Sad!
Comments: On the subject of movies, did any of you guys ever see "Running on Empty"? River Phoenix was nominated for an Oscar for it. And, he deserved it. Everyone in it was GREAT. But, get ready. Even the guys get teary-eyed watching it. Very, very moving flick. If you haven't seen it, check it out sometime. It came out in the late 1980s. You will love it, I am sure. Another great European flick is from Holland, named "Soldier of Orange." I guess being part Dutch make me a little partial to it. It made Rutger Hauer famous internationally.
Comments: Doc Mitchell - to answer your question, the earliest TV show I can recall is "Winky Dink" around 1953-ish. It is perhaps the first "interactive" video game. You could buy a plastic screen that adhered to the TV and special crayons to draw with. In each episode Winky would get in dire trouble. Let's say he was being chased by cannibals and ended up at a river. The announcer would tell us kids to "draw a bridge from here to here so Winky can cross the river". We would do so, and miraculously, Winky would cross the improvised bridge and be safe. Sometimes I'd even remember to put the plastic screen on the TV before I commenced drawing. Nowadays, eight yr. olds can spend hours playing Grand Theft Auto and learning future life skills.
Comments: Snadra McM., the trantula you had nightmares about may have been the 9th grade Holmes stud you were in the balcony with.......
Comments: Ronney Mc., Donna Terry and sister Sonja were sweet, kind, beautiful girls. I always told them it was an honor to dance with them at the soc hops.
Comments: Sandy Mc: I have some of the Topper episodes on DVD. I, also, never missed the show. I also have all of the I Love Lucy shows and Luci-Desi Comedy Hour shows on DVD, along with some of the Our Miss Brooks and My Little Margie programs. Always fun to watch them and go back in time.
Comments: Karen, I have watched "It's a Wonderful Life" more than any other movie. One of my daughter's favorites is "Stand By Me", which I have seen many times.as well as dirty dancing. "Breakfast At Tiffany's", Linda and I saw that at Crest Theater. I'm so tired I can't spell any more even with spell check. It never stopped raining last night and actually kept me awake. Besides the creek being out of it banks I could stop thinking about one of my friends. ![]() ![]() In the shower and off to bed. Night everyone.![]() ![]()
Comments: Some of my favorite movies include "Titanic" including the old version with Clifton Webb and Barbara Stanwyck, all Indiana Jones movies (can't wait for the new one!), It's a Wonderful Life", "The Sure Thing" and, yes, "Memento". I was off today and went to a matinee with a friend of mine and saw "Cloverfield". It was interesting in a wild and wicked way. JS, in fairness to SNL, you should have asked "what" rather than "who starred in the title role". ![]()
Comments: Doc, I remember Topper. It was a show I never missed.
Comments: John S, you're older than the class of '66. What is the oldest TV show you remember? Anyone remember Topper?
Comments: And, Toni, you are right. Donna Terry was the salt of the earth. You could not find a sweeter, kinder person. She and I both thought a lot of one another. I think she sort of liked the attention, even if it was calling her Shorty. I still feel sad thinking that she has passed on. I was hoping so much that she would come to a reunion. I would have loved to have had the opportunity to sit and talk with her again. She was one of the most precious people in our class. Not a mean bone in her entire body. I never even heard her say anything bad about anyone. I had to square dance with her once. It was so much fun having to squat down to dance with her. |
