Ok, I've decided to fly in for the reunion. We'll be there Friday and look forward to seeing Southworth next Saturday. "Hi "to all.  Seems there was something else on my mind, but I can't quite remember what it was...it'll come to me., just the age thing kickin' in.

Now, SLN, how the heck did I miss David Mitchell? Darn! I sure would like to see him again. Hope he comes to a future mini-reunion.

Sandy -

You and Barb put together a great party ... of course, you always do!  I had a great time and was sorry I couldn't join everyone for dinner later.  Finally got to meet the famous/infamous John Southworth!  Can't wait to see the pictures!

Want to give an update on the great party & 60th birthday celebration we had on 6-7-8.

We started the day off with a loving remembrance & toast to our dear friend Christie who left us on 5-25.  We acknowledged what an honor it was to have had her as a friend & we felt she was smiling down on us Saturday.  She would have been happy to see so many SOC friends gathered that day.

We had 35 SOCites & 15 spouses join us on Sat.  Barbara & I brought 2 cakes (chocolate & carrot) & snacks.  Sue McDow brought her famous crackers & cheese snacks.  I think the plates said it all & set the tone for the party.  They said, "60... the party continues!"  And party we did!

We rearranged the Double Trees furniture and made a place for a grp pic.  I've decided trying to get 35 partying SOCites over to the photo area & to hold still for a picture is like herding cats!!     After the photo we cut the cakes, but we didn't sing the traditionally "Happy Birthday to you" song.    Oh No, not this grp!  We played from a boom box the Beatles song "They say it's Your Birthday!" and Happy Jack really got in to it!  Can't wait to post those pics!!

Later we had the drawing for the great box of goodies Carol Carpenter sent down form Kansas City.  Barbara Fugate was the lucky winner!  Thank You Carol!

Ronney McKee brought his band jackets from SOC & Zumwalt.  Sandra McMakin brought her entire Deb uniform.  Plus several people brought old photos & memorabilia.

The doctor made a house call Saturday as David Mitchell & his wife Shirley made a first-time appearance.  Also John Southworth ('63) & his wife Dru and Buddy Capps ('67) & his wife Georgene were first-timers.  We really enjoyed having them & hope they'll return!!

To sum it up. . . we had cake, snacks, gifts, music, photos and lots of F-U-N!!! Thanks to everyone who came, I had a great time!!!

John - I cannot believe that you even believe that you might have been arrested at our dinner on Saturday night - that was actually quite mild compared to what we usually have - I mean when we found that you were coming we cancelled the dancing girls because we did not want to embarress you . We did have some other things planned but the threats kept coming so we decided to be nice

This morning at 8:00 I staggered into the dining area at the DoubleTree and was greeted by the still-hanging "Happy 60th Birthday" banner in the lobby. What a hoot the previous day had been.

I don't know where to start and can't possibly thank everyone who helped make the weekend extra special for Dru and I. How can one describe the Class of '66? ... Caring, Feisty, Generous, Rowdy, Fun, Youthful, Exhuberant, Successful, Hyperactive etc.

It was a treat for us to finally meet face to face with some of the legends of the guestbook. Everyone had a story to tell. One simple question I frequently asked was "where did you live in Oak Cliff?" Invariably, the answer would lead to a flood of memories long forgotten. Jana and Karen floored me by stirring up some memories of fun times on Brownlee and old neighbors like the Radkes and Grimlands.

Saturday evening ended with a group of 20 to 25 of us in a cozy backroom at iFratelli's italian restaurant off Macarthur. After the frenzy of the afternoon getogether, Dru and I were ready for a quiet romantic little sit-down dinner with our new friends.

Well, forget that. After the riot at IFratelli's, Dru and I considered ourselves lucky not to be sitting handcuffed in the back of a police cruiser. I'm sure the poor waitress will be asking for a two week leave of absence after dealing with our group. But the chow (or is that "ciao"?) was Great!

I'll try to post more a little later as I think of others to pick on ... er, I mean "thank".

SNL - I have now downloaded my pictures to a disc and will put them into the mail the first thing in the morning.  Well, second thing - I have my dr. appointment with my migraine dr. in the morning.  That is always fun.  Toni - I don't think Bruce added a lot of hot air!!!!!

WOW!  Seems as though I missed quite the party!  Jack stripping?!?  Bovie as a Deb?!?  (Will the hotel allow us to come back?)

Barb, I can't think of a nicer person to have won the KC goodies.  Enjoy them all.

KMG, what did John S. bring for you?

Ada, I'm glad that you made it to the party but sorry that you had such a hard time getting there.  Hopefully the rest of your trip will be easier.

I'm already looking forward to the fall get-together.

BLB, it's good that Sarah wasn't hurt too badly.

Later - Carol

It was great seeing everyone again yesterday. Sarah and I had a blast. For those of you who missed the mini reunion, please make an attempt to come to the next one. SNL said it appropriately when we honored Christie with a toast. You never know who will not be around to enjoy the family of SOC friends.

J.D. Thanks for the drink, but especially the kind words about me. Sarah was teary eyed.

Thanks again Sandy for putting this together.

Thought for the week is in honor of stripper Jack.

Had a great time yesterday.  Hey SNL, I'd have to agree with Ronney about the room being hot but I think it's because of all the glass on one side...and a lot of hot air Bruce added!!  The thing I enjoyed was being able to put my ailing foot up on one of the sofas to give it a rest.  I never knew Bovie looked so charming in a Golden Deb hat!  JD, thanks for everyone....and Karen and Jimmie, we REALLY enjoyed the wine...sorry we got stuck in the corner and couldn't tell you personally!    I'm glad everyone enjoyed the pictures we took of OC back in 2/08.  Sandy McM, Linda P, Debbie M and I had a great time.  John Southworth, it was really nice to finally meet you and I thought you were kidding when you said you had to put on your "eating" pants!!!  Your gift to Karen MG brought down the house with laughter last night.  Whisking, whisking, whisking the night away.....Jack, that song will be treasured for a long time to come, right Karen?  Happy Birthday to all....
