Ooooooooooooooohhhh, Reynolds-Wrap. You and my wife, Connie, must be two peas in a pod. I cannot tell you how many years (at least 20) she acted as if she had no idea how to turn on the oven. She would even call me at work (when she was at home) to ask me how to turn it on. On those rare occasions when she does decide to admit she knows where the vacuum cleaner is, I still have to change the attachments for her. (It's a Kirby and you'd think that after all of these years, she would know that).

On those few occasions when she decides to actually cook, I still end up doing the work. For example, she once decided to make a cake for my birthday. She got a mix and read the directions. Next thing I know, she is asking me if when the directions say to put a half cup of milk in the batter, "does that mean fill the measuring cup to where it says 1/2?" At that point, I usually just run her out of the kitchen and do it myself. I have learned that if I let her finish the recipe, it will only be down hill from there.

JS - That is what Bobby usually says is my reaction to a vacuum cleaner. I was using ours at the lake one day & he came running in from the deck to find out what the noise was-said that he did not know that I knew what or where the vacuum cleaner was  But you know  - if I keep him think that - I don't have to use it!!!!!

Long but worth sharing with all of you:

WRITTEN BY A 15 yr. old SCHOOL KID IN ARIZONA :

New Pledge of Allegiance (TOTALLY AWESOME)!

Since the Pledge of Allegiance and The Lord's Prayer
are not allowed in most public schools anymore
Because the word 'God' is mentioned....
A kid in Arizona wrote the attached:

_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

NEW School prayer :
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

If you aren't ashamed to do this,
please pass this on.

Jesus said,
'If you are ashamed of me,
I will be ashamed of you before my Father.'

Not ashamed. Pass this on.

Mr.Southworth. I like your choice of gifts...the bags were extremely appropriate...Dru must have loved your response as she shoved the vaccum up you know where! LOL

I once sent a friend of mine a rose...I'm sure it died on the porch.

Words of wisdom - Be careful who you share your friendship with as some don't recognize it for the golden gem it is...and it becomes a one way street...going the wrong way!

JS - Better distract Dru, before she has time to react & spoil your primary surprise gift.  Feign helplessness & tell her you need a shirt ironed.

Right this minute (12:14pm) it is raining like crazy outside. First time in weeks. Uh, I ordered it up for Dru's "other" birthday present.

She is still speechless over her primary gift. I got her a 2-pack of Type Y Replacement Bags for her Hoover Windtunnel Vaccum.

Dru studied the present, sipped her coffee, and muttered "We have a vaccum?"

John Southworth.....tell Dru we all wish her a wonderful birthday...and tell her how excited we were to hear about the surprise birthday cruise you planned for her.....next year.  Like KMG suggested, you'd better start planning now!

JS, be sure and give Dru a big Happy Birthday hug from me.  It's just like a man to wait till the last minute to get something for his wife's birthday.  You now have 364 days to prepare for the next one so plan ahead next time.

Sam, I like that thought.  I have had many detours and life is still amazing.  Thanks for reminding me.

Not for sure if this is a world's record. About 20 years ago I was rushed to the hospital from lower back pains that just about did me in. I had kidney several kidney stones in the past caused by my body producing too much calcium. It's due to the ankylosing spondilitis. I passed those with little or no pain.

Anyway, the xray's showed I had 11 stones and was immediately tranported to Medical City since it was the only hospital that had the equipment to perform a lithotripsy. Blew those suckers to pieces.

Haven't had stones since. I can honestly say I feel for anyone with them.

Thought for the week: A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

Memo to Toni R. & Don L.:

According to my list there is an important birthday coming up on the 24th!

Oh, wait ... she isn't a SOCite ... (or even a high school graduate, for that matter.)

I'd better get out tonight and get Dru a card.
