Sandy, bless yours and Don's hearts!  You're taking on quite a job!  Sounds like you're coming up on burnout!

I'm in for the 9/6 lunch and the GNO.  Just let me know.

Jake and I are leaving on the 14th for about 10 days in Sioux Falls.  That probably doesn't sound very exciting, but we are soooo ready to get out of town and out of the heat.  And if you have to go to South Dakota, this is the time to go!  It's very nice up there now.

Come on, SNL, get busy. You know you could accomplished a lot more if you didn't waste all night SLEEPING!  Gee, some people can find all sorts of ways to kill time.
Southworth, I can't believe that we both thought Julie Adams was the greatest. Who was the male lead?  Didn't he go on to star in "I lead three lives" on TV?? What's your take on the remake??

Ada Ann, have you been sniffing the laughing gas??

Bob Jones, yes Doug Lincoln is Don's bro.  Don is on the GB a lot and I'm sure he will be contacting you to give you contact info for Doug. I believe Don told me Doug & his wife live in Salado now.

Kathy, yes we will have a 2nd Get-Together in the Fall.  We always have at least two a year.  It will most likely be either 9-27, 10-4 or 10-25.  Sorry, but it takes lots of phone calls, planning & coordination to set up the get-togethers and I don't have the time right now.  When are you moving to NM?

Yes, I want to have another Saturday Girls Luncheon!  I really enjoyed our last one.  How about Sept 6th??!!  I was going to say Aug 30th but that is Labor Day weekend & many are out of town or with family.  I'll find a restaurant & we'll meet at 11:45 & be seated at 12:00 noon.

Most of you know Don & I bought a house about 4 months ago & we've been very busy on weekends painting, redoing and fixing up the place.  We tore out our entire master bath vanity along with the sinks, lights & mirrors and hired a contractor to rebuild it to our specifications & install it.  He was also to rebuild several of our kitchen cabinets as we bought all new appliance and the cabinets had to be modified to accommodate.  He was also going to repaint and glaze them in the colors I picked out.  Long story short - -  after screwing with him for 2 months it all got canceled!!  We basically wasted 2 mo!  We've got another contractor now & with a little luck we may have a working bathroom and kitchen in about 2 wks.  Don & I are at the house every Sat & Sun all day & 2 or 3 nights a wk working our butts off to get everything ready.  We are moving in on Aug 16th regardless of what stage the kitchen or our bath is in!  Just wanted ya'll to know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth and I'm not ignoring your emails or the GB . . .  I'm just tired & burning the candle at both ends.  Between my job, the house, my Dad, this darn HEAT and a few other responsibilities... Don and I are about whipped.  Until we can get all packed up and get moved into the house I don't have any spare time!!

I do check the GB a couple of times a day but right now my main focus is getting packed and moved along with all the fun stuff in between!!  I'll post the Luncheon info soon.  Ya'll stay cool as this heat is a killer!!!

Hey, Bobby Jones, are you the Bobby Jones who was the grandson of Mrs. Huffstettler? And, did you go to Edgefield Church of Christ?

I noticed quite a few pictures of Don Lincoln. I was two years behind him and knew a Doug Lincoln. Is this his brother? Would like to know how he is. I went to Clara Oliver and Boude Storey, but moved before my sophomore year and graduated from Kimball, class of 1968. I always missed my friends form Oliver and Storey.

Memo To Richard Nance: "The Killer Shrews" has its place in the 1950's movies genre - but my favorite remains the 1954 classic "Creature from the Black Lagoon". (or Black Magoon, as my 6 yr. old brother called it).

It featured powerhouse-actress Julia Adams who never received the awards and credits she was rightfully due. That girl could act and make you believe that there was hope for these two kids from opposite sides of the track ... er, lagoon.

To this day, I've always wanted to live on a street named "Black Lagoon". It still has a certain cache.

Dennis, no it's not my Courtney.  She graduated from DeSoto High School and has been a senior at Dallas Baptist for several years now.  Some day she'll finish.
Kathy, what takes you to NM?  Hopefully we ladies can get together this next month for lunch on a Saturday.

SNL, or whoever is in charge of setting dates...is there going to be a get together this fall?  If so, do you have a date yet?  I am moving to Rio Rancho, NM and want to pencil in the time.  Thanks.

I'm "working" out of my home-office today and watching "The Killer Shrews", filmed around Grapevine or Lake Dallas ('57).  It's really a scary show.  The shrews aren't bothering me so much, but Gordon McClendon's acting is sending shivers up my spine. They just don't make 'em like that anymore.  I think Southworth lists this as one his favorites...maybe not.

I was browsing through the pictures in the misc photo album and noticed Sandy Mc 's family, and was wondering if her daughter Courtney went to Trinity High. If this is the same Courtney then she went to school wih my daughter Carrie Hayden and were best friends, and with that Sandy's husband Mike would have coached the "Derek Dolls" of Dresser Industries a team that my wife played for when we were involved in softball. Could this be so?

Ada Ann, I'm afraid I can't help you with that one. It sounds like a compilation of many songs and/or poems.

Welcome back Cap'n Jack, or should I say "Wet Willy". (Sandy McM, I like the names you picked). Jack, I never realized what a closet fan you were of Andy and Opie and Mayberry. Did ya bring us a dish of Aunt Bee's Apple Dumplings? We're all gonna need a little "persuasion offering" to garner our political support.
