Comments: Jim - Thanks for the info regarding Ricky, but I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. If he lived on Kushla, he was only a coupla blocks down from me on Marfa - it dead-ended on Kushla. I also attended Lisbon for that 1st semester, then transferred to Oliver & went on to Storey & SOC. Rick - How about this: I'll just continue to wish you a happy b'day when it rolls around & make no ref to your age. If you show up w/Bovie & Sandy McM says you both look 35 in a swim suit, then you will have set the bar pretty high for the rest of us who don't own a thong.

Comments: I am here to announce that SNL will be adding our South Oak Cliff Military website as soon as she can. The document is 90% complete. I still have to add some pictures...clean up some of the abbreviations in unit descriptions etc...but expect to have it complete within a month. Then I will tinker with it until I feel it is the best representation of the men who's names appear on the site. We (Don L. & I) have decided to add a list of other SOC men Killed in Action. We have a few names and will be adding those as well. So, if you are on the site..you will receive notification from Don...if you are not but are curious...please visit the site...Don and I are extremely pleased and honored to have gathered the info and worked together to complete the site. Oh, and I have one additional name to add to our site ...Mike Spray ...we recently found out that he should be a member of this group and will be proudly adding him this weekend. If, as you view the site...see anything that you can help us add additional information...please e-mail either Don or myself...thanks for your patience...this has been a project that took me over a year to complete...but am pleased and hope you will also. Thanks to all for supplying the information...

You're nice..in fact there are 3 Sandy's that converse on the GB...You & Sandy Lynn (who is nice also)respect & understand me, the other Sandy, who builds pools, & is "not" nice to me..SNL, I hope u & Don are getting settled in your new home.....
Comments: Don L, I had a stress test Monday and they got my EKG mixed up with the lady across the hall, so Doc wanted to start operating right away. After straighting out the mixup he said I look like I'm 35 years old. So can you change my birth date on your list?
Comments: Don - Ricky lived on Ann Arbor behind our house on Neptune when we were born and then they moved over to Kushla when we were at Oliver. I think. He, Alton Day and I both went to Lisbon for our first semester of the first grade before going to Oliver when it opened. He went to Zumwalt and then SOC. Early on his parents owned Jones Laundry on Lancaster. It was right across from Lisbon. Not sure when they sold that. His parents were almost always in some kind of business. He had an older sister Donna. I believe if you lived on the North side of Ann Arbor, you went to Storey and if you were on the South side, you went to Zumwalt.
Comments: Jim - Ricky's name sounded familiar, so I looked up & found Richard Jones in the Jr. pages of our Den. I recognized him right away, but can't recall where all we crossed paths. Was he an Oliver > Storey > SOC guy?
Comments: Happy Belated Birthday Wishes to Linda and Sheryl. Yesterday, Aug 19, would have been Ricky Jones' 60th BDay. He was the same age as most of us, but was held back in the third grade because of excessive days out for illness. He would been a '67 grad, but dropped out in his Sr. year. He was killed in a car wreck at Kiest and Hwy 67 in April of '69. |
