Comments: At 8:00pm tonight I got a phone call from Dale Smiley. Today while he and Yuvonne were in Abilene doing some ranch-related shopping, they received a cell phone call saying their ranch was on fire. Dale reports that very high winds quickly pushed the flames along and that his and a number of adjacent ranches were involved in what grew to be a massive fire. Dale estimates that two-thirds of his land was burned. The home and barn escaped damage. Will have more details later.

Comments: Oh my goodness, how blessed am I/we to have each other. I thank all of my SOC family for all the prayers and b-day wishes. I returned to Tex. last March 29 and doing great (after 10 wk. healing time, 8 in Ca.) I can't wait to see all in June. I will try to check our Guestbook weekly. Please know how much I love and cherish all of you and am always in prayer for all. RoseMary Z. Cooper
Comments: For those of you without access to the Dallas News here is a link to the Ramon Arguelles story: http://tinyurl.com/dx5x4j It is cool to learn that he is actually pictured in the story but we may be missing the point. He and his fellow tenants are being hit with fees of up to $50 to take a van trip to the grocery store and are given only 20 minutes to get in and out. Would any of you in the local area consider reaching out to him and offering to give him a ride to the store, barbers, doctors etc? If 3 or 4 SOCites volunteered to be on call, it could make his life much easier. It is scary to think we are all headed toward that loss of independence.
Comments: Two interesting things in today's DMN & both pertain to many of us on the GB. * On front pg story about "Senior Citizen Communities" but the best part is on pg 14A where it continues & has a picture. Our own Ramon Arguelles is pictured! I've been to the Treemont a number of times, even went to see Ramon when he first moved in there, it's a nice place. * Toni you will like this one - - Neiman's has released the recipe for their famous White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies served at the Zodiac Room!! ![]() Have a good day . . . . ![]()
Comments: Jack...I took your life test and came out at 85.4, thanks.
Comments: Well of course you count, Sheryl!! Good to hear you are coming. It's been too long since we have seen you. Shovel Dog; yes James is Jerry's older brother. James was BatCom in 64 and Camp Commander of the last Camp Dallas. Jerry was BatCom in 66. (They must of had something on Col Hill). Both did an excellent job. I was a Company Commander in 66. Moved up to staff (Training Officer) towards the end of the year. Carry on!
Comments: Jack, no response from Santiago yet (Ed Arnold). But, my younger daughter wants to make the next trip.
Comments: Jack, as a "Lurker", I plan on attending the festivities....do I count ? |
